The happy occasion of the silver wedding of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Milligan occurred at their beautiful new residence in the suburbs of Waveland Friday evening Nov 24, 1893. The rooms were beautifully decorated with ferns, cut flowers, trailing vines and silver, the dates 1868-1893 in silver, being prominently displayed above the mantle. The guests to the number of 125 responded to their invitations. After all the guests had arrived the bridal party preceded by Rev. AM Hooke of the Presbyterian Church of Waveland, entered the parlor to the sweet strains of Mendelsshon’s wedding march. Rev. Hooke made some very touching remarks giving the history of their married life, after which the bridal party led the way to the dining rooms, where an elaborate collation was served in three courses. When supper was over the guests returned to the parlors where some very fine toasts were made by LE Acker; Rev. TJ Shuey; Rev. Hooke and AJ Wolfe. Mr. and Mrs. Milligan received a large number of very beautiful and costly presents. The guests from abroad were: Dr. JG McMechan and wife, Mrs. MD White, Mrs. MA Grayson and daughter of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. James Gilliland of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Emma Hawks of Rockville.
