Fugitives - Montgomery InGenWeb Project

Crawfordsville, Ind Aug 20 – A posse caught a third state reformatory fugitive today after capturing his two armed companions without firing a shot late last night. In custody today were Raymond Johns, 22, Kokomo and Roland Hurt, 25, Indianapolis.  Early 100 state policemen, sheriff deputies and farmers searched a rough, hilly woodland near here for Charles Gilchrist, 25, Indianapolis. State police said a bicycle and clothing was stolen at a nearby farmhouse early this morning. They believed Gilchrist might have eluded their trap. A Montgomery County farmer, Lester Bayless, chased the two captured men out of his barn last night. They put up no struggle against state police.
