Foust - Benjamin

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday, 6 April 1900

Amid the blood curdling scenes of 1812, on April 4, in Fairfield County, Ohio, was born Benjamin Foust, and on the same day in the year of 1900 was celebrated his 88th anniversary by children, grandchildren, nephews, and great nieces to the number of forty one.  Grandpa came to Indiana in 1836, accompanied by his wife and eldest son, Joseph Foust. Later to them were born four children, Abraham, Katherine, Phoebe and Rebecca, none of which survive him but two sons and a daughter, Mrs. J. B. Greene. Those from a distance were: Mrs. W. A. Russell, Terre Haute; Mrs. J. C. White, Urbana; Mr. and Mrs. Wm Butler and daughter, Indianapolis; Messrs. Henry and Calvin Defenbaugh and Mrs. Martha Cole, of Peoria; Joseph T. Foust and family, of New Market. As the groans of the table grew fainter the guests assembled in the yard and had their pictures taken by A. H. Champion, after which all departed wishing Grandpa many returns of this happy day.
