Waynetown Ind Feb 13 – Flower Lover’s Club met with Mrs. Barnum Dazey. Responses were exhibits of treasured buttons, prior to a talk and general exhibit by Mrs. Russell Moffett. Her small daughter Ruth has a collection of approximately 15,000 buttons and has been awarded several prizes for her various displays. A daily reminder of the shortage of coffee in a bygone war is a small Seth Thomas clock, the prized possession of Mrs. TF Stockdale. Inherited from her grandfather, Erasmus Williamson, veteran of the Civil War, the clock keeps perfect time. Soldiers in that war more often than not were without coffee with their camp fire meals but he had a supply and “swapped” some of the precious green coffee with another soldier for the clock which he always suspected had been stolen.
