Darlington Saw Mill

Source: Weekly Argus News 3 Oct 1891 p 6

Darlington, Ind Sept 25 – A loud report startled the people of this place this morning.  It came from the vicinity of Wilhite’s saw mill and everybody started on a run in that direction.  It was found that the boiler had exploded and that the mill was badly wrecked.  Engineer Phillips was the only man in the mill at the time.  He was lifted off of his feet and was blown clear out of the building.  Strange to relate he was only slightly injured.
