Mr. and Mrs. JV Carter gave a reception Wednesday evening at their home on Garfield Avenue in honor of the 30th anniversary of their marriage. The affair was largely attended, 125 guests being invited. The rooms were trimmed with wedding bells and hearts and clusters of carnations and narcissuses. The appointments in the dining room were effectively carried out in the valentine colors, red and white. Mrs. William Goben of Crawfordsville who was maid of honor at the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Carter was a special guest. During the evening an informal musical program was given by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Marquette, Miss Lois Heaton and Miss Marie Knowles. The hostess was assisted by her daughter, Mrs. JM Benefiel, Mrs. VG Carter, Miss Leora Thorpe, Miss Clara Wilson, Miss Cleethel Carter, Miss Katherine Wischmeyer, Miss Corrine Welling, Miss Blanche Gill and Byron Carter. Among the guests from out of the city were: Mr. and Mrs. William Goben and daughter, Miss Jessie Goben of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Charles Miller of Cayuga, Mrs. Mollie Garrigus of Tangier, Miss Carter, Roy Carter and EM Carter of Rockville. – kbz
