George Lowe - Wounded

Pvt George A. Lowe, 36, 1408 Darlington Avenue has been wounded in action in France, acording to word received here Sunday.Pfc. Lowe who is an infantryman suffered a fractured ankle and shrapnel wounds when he was struck by fragments of a morter shell on July 11, according to a letter received from him. He said that he was given aid treatment by the medical corp within 5 minutes after he had been hit. He later was evacuated to England and in his letter siad he was recovering rapidly. Previous to his induction in October 1943, Pvt Lowe was employed at the Wabash Ordance works at Newport. Prior to that time, he had been employed by the Indiana State highway commission. His wife, Mrs. Martha Switzer Lowe is employed at the Elston Bank & Trust Company. His mother, Mrs. Cora Lowe, lives at Hillsboro, his former home. Pvt Lowe has two brothers in the US Army - Leslie, stationed in England or France and John at Camp Atterbury.
