NOTE: The 63rd lost the most of all of the above regiments (and companies). Their first detail was to guard prisoners at Lafayette. Then, they were transferred to Indianapolis then guarded prisoners at Camp Nelson. They were engaged in a few skirmishes and lost a few not only to the battlefield but death from the wounds and diseases (dysentery, flu, TB). On March 15, 1864, they were at Nashville, Tenn. “They marched hundreds of miles, burning bridges and destroying railroad tracks between Tennessee and Virginia” in order to deter travel and transport of supplies. Then on the 14th of May at Resaca, Georgia the group took charge (literally) across a half mile battlefield in the open under massive fire from the Rebel forces. 18 were killed outright, 94 wounded and many of those dying from the wounds. Rest In Peace All
