About White CountyWhite County was created 1 Feb 1834 from Carroll County. The County Seat is Monticello. The county was named for Isaac White of Equality, Illinois who was killed at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811 and was buried at Battle Ground. Although White was a Colonel in the Illinois militia, he volunteered to serve as a Private in the Indiana militia.
