Clarence
E. "Snid" Cronkhite, 78, of West Lebanon Route 1, died
at Home Hospital in Lafayette Sunday (April 23, 1972).
He had been a patient at the Edgewood View Nursing
Home in Oxford since last November and was taken to
the hospital April 20. He had been in failing health
since 1966. Born near Marshfield, Dec. 26, 1893, he
was the son of Albert and Nellie Goodrick Cronkhite.
He married Edna J. Hickman June 10, 1916, she died in
April of 1933. A life resident of Warren County, he
had resided near West Lebanon for several years. He
had been a farmer and farm hand all his life. He was a
member of Williams Chapel of Johnsonville. Surviving
are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Salts of
Williamsport Route 3 and Mrs. Robert (Vivian Pearl)
Dowers of Danville, Ill.; a son, Albert B. of
Williamsport Route 1; two brothers, Ed of Alvin, Ill.
and Glenn of West Lebanon; four sisters, Mrs. Harry
(Audrey) Southers, Mrs. Lowell (Alberta) Groff and
Mrs. Dean (Geneva) Hobaugh, all of West Lebanon, and
Mrs. Owen (Ethel) Roderick of Danville; 14
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by two daughters, a son, two sisters
and a brother. Services were Wednesday at the Fisher
Funeral Home in West Lebanon with the Rev. Grover
Williams officiating. Burial was in the West Lebanon
Cemetery.
