Arnet O. Byers, 85, of
Casselberry, Fla., died at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Gladys Clark
at St. Petersburg, Fla., Wednesday morning, March 22,
1972. He had been
in failing health since 1969. He was born in Warren
County Feb. 19,
1887, the son of William F. and Phoebe Remster Byers and
was a life
resident of Warren County until he retired to Florida in
1956. He was
married Feb. 8, 1905, in Williamsport to Ada L. Evans
who passed away
in October, 1969. For several years they operated the
Byers and Byers
Flower Shop and fillng station at the "Y" intersection
of 28 and 41.
Before that they owned the general store at Hedrick and
farmed. Several
people will remember happy meetings of the Wabash Valley
Stamp Club
with Mr. and Mrs. Byers at the "Y." Mr. Byers was a
member of the First
Christian Church at Sanford, Fla. He had been active in
the Christian
Church at Williamsport and served as superintendent of
that Sunday
School. He was a member of the United Commercial
Travelers, Odd
Fellows, the Williamsport Lions Club and was active in
many civic
affairs. Surviving are three daughters; Mrs. Vera Jack
of Caselberry,
Fla.; Mrs. Grace Gaskill of R 3, Attica ; Mrs. Gladys
Clark of St.
Petersburg, Fla.; one son, Arnet Evans Byers of Hammond,
Ind.; one
brother, Everett of Ontario, Calif.; 12 grandchildren,
23 great
grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was
preceded in death
by one sister and two brothers. Friends may call at the
Fisher Funeral
Home in Williamsport after 2:00 p. m. Friday. Funeral
services will be
held in the Fisher chapel at Williamsport at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, with
Rev. Douglas Dickey officiating. Burial in West Lebanon
Cemetery.
