ABSHIRE CEMETERY

The Abshire cemetery is located on the southeast quarter of Section 1, Township 29, Range 5, north of Roann. The 1884 History of Wabash County, Helm, described the cemetery on page 418 and 419 as follows: "Simeon B. Lloyd, an early settler, came in 1841, somewhat old. Mr. Williams, brother to old Mrs. Squires, widow of Martin Squires, and now a resident at Roann. Her husband, Martini Squires, sold out and started for Minnesota, but he died on his way there, and the family returned. Abraham Fisher, somewhat old; Mrs. Good, fifty-five or sixty years of age. The graveyard is not now in use."
