Josephine "Josie" Watkins was born May 7, 1857, in Caroline County, Maryland, the daughter of Josiah Watkins (1818-1894) and Elizabeth Gowty (1818-1891).  She came with her parents to Indiana in 1865, and lived for several years in Warren County.  Josie married George S. Lamb in 1878 in Warren County.  They later moved to Battle Ground where they raised their family.
