The Bible survived a tornado on November 4, 1905 in Mt. View, Oklahoma. John Shaw Barkley was killed at his job in a gin, and the family home about a block away was lifted from its foundations and destroyed in the storm. The Bible has major water damage and is very hard to read, with much of the ink smeared. The Bible is presently in the possession of one of the daughters of Ray Watson Barkley, son of John Shaw Barkley.
Robert, the son of Henry Barkley and Zilpha Moore, moved from Mifflin County, PA to Jasper County, IN about 1837; and about 1847 moved to Ogle County, IL. In 1832 James and John Shaw and their families moved to Tippecanoe County. Abigail Cowan Smith died in Henry County, IN, but her husband and children later moved to Tippecanoe County.
William B. Shaw, brother of Margaret, was married 7 January 1835 in Tippecanoe County, IN to Ruanna Mills. After her death he was married 20 April 1874 in Jasper County, IN to Nancy Jane Barkley, sister of Robert M. Barkley.
