TIPPECANOE COUNTY, INDIANA
1830 CENSUS

This 1830 federal census of Tippecanoe County, Indiana, was transcribed from the National Archives Microfilm No. 19,
Roll 31, Vol. 6 of Indiana, found at the Tippecanoe County Public Library in Lafayette, Indiana.   It is presented in the
order it was written.   The advantage of this type of presentation is that it allows you to get a "feel" for the neighborhood
your ancestors lived in.  This can be a valuable aid in tracing your ancestors' origins because you can see who their neighbors
and associates were, and will allow you to follow family groups as they migrated from one county or state to the next.

Every effort has been made to maintain accuracy; however, mistakes happen. If you need to document any information using
this census, I strongly recommend you double-check the original.  Page numbers used were the numbers imprinted on the book, not handwritten numbers (there were 3 different sets of numbers to choose from!).

The census enumerator was A.W. Ingraham, Assistant to the Marshall of Tippecanoe District of the State of Indiana.

To aid you in understanding what the numbers mean,  I have included this table to show the age categories used in the
1830 census.
