John served with brothers in the Revolutionary War Rifle Company attached to the 2nd Pennsylvania Reg Commanded by Col. Broardheads Reg.
He enlisted at Hannahstown Pennsylvania in April or May of 1776. John was severely wounded in the battle of Long Island, and was discharged at Valley Forge in 1777, He returned home later that year.
He went on to serve many more times.John resided in Ohio for many years then moved on to Switzerland County Indiana where he was living in 1818 in Jefferson Township.
He was awarded a pension in 1831 based on his Revolutionary War service at age 71.
He also resided in Decatur County Indiana where he was living at the time of his death.
He was buried in Twin Springs Cemetery, South West of Kokomo Indiana.
His nickname was Jack
He was a resident of Decatur County Indiana in Oct 1839
