Dr. Lester Wardlaw VEACH


Dr. Lester Wardlaw Veach, 91, Bainbridge, died Monday at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born Feb 8, 1893 in Staunton, he was the son of Dr. Patrick Henry and Martha Wardlaw Veach.
Dr. Veach was graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1918.  He practiced in Bainbridge from 1922-75.
He was a member of the Phi Beta Pi medical fraternity, the American Medical Association and the Indiana and Putnam County Medical Societies.  He served as Putnam County health officer from 1961-73.
Dr. Veach was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No 75 F&AM, Bainbridge, and the Cassell C. Tucker American Legion Post. He was an Army veteran of WWI.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard and Dorothy Veach, Bainbridge; a sister, Catherine Robbins, Tucson, Ariz; two nieces, Patricia George, Franklin and Marian Kohl, Tucson, Ariz and a nephew, Phillip Robbins, Phoenix.
Dr. Veach was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, who died on Feb 2, 1963.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with the Rev. William Carr officiating.  Entombment will follow at the Bainbridge Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
