Source: Application for Sons of the American Revolution for James D. Edmondson Descendant of Wiliam Edmundson (both are kind of smudge - originally o's and think penned over as os) -- Accepted July 13, 1904 - Des Moines, Iowa

James is 65 years old, lineage in the following line from William Edmundson (sometimes spelled Edmiston) who was born in VA in 1750 and died in Greencastle, Ind (no date give)

I was born in Des Moines Iowa 23 Nov 1831

I am the son of William Edmundson and Priscilla DePew Edmundson

and grandson of William Edmundson and Mary Cook

Said William Edmundson or Edmiston served in the Virginia Troops and was at the battle of Cowpens in which hbe was reverly (?) wounded as set forth in the application of David G. Edmundson the cousin of this applicant Arters (?) Iowa Society of the Sons of the American Revolution No. 250 and refence is herein made with said application which is made a part hereof as is the affidavit of this applicant on the 4th page of the same as the said William Edmundson or Edmiston is the common Revolutionary Ancestor of both applicants. -- note William Edmundson and Priscilla DePew were married in Parke County Indiana 25 January 1838 which is odd the SAR applicant would be born 23 Nov 1831 - surely it is 1839 - and they must have left for Iowa almost immediately upon marriage. William A. Edmundson, the son was born in 1805 and died in 1862 buried Oskaloosa Cem, Mahaska County, Iowa at age 57

Note: James D. Edmundson (parents Wm. Edmundson and Priscilla Depew) was a banker and married at age 56 in Burlington to Laura Barclay Kirby age 39 (parents Henry and ELizabeth Armstrong Barclay) on Jan 24, 1894 in Pattawattomie County, Iowa
