Westfall - Jacob

Jacob Westfall (with the George Rogers Clark Expedition according to his grandson, Frank Mill's autobiography) is buried just over into Putnam County, (he was born October 10th, 1755 in Hardy County, West Virginia and Jacob and Judith Hornbeck Westfall on a large farm.  He married Mary King in March of 1777.   He and his father had built Westfall Fort previous to this.  served in the 8th Va. Regiment and died in 1835, buried in the family graveyard of his son-in-law, David Swank on the banks of the Raccoon).  He fathered 8 children.  Following through Miami County, Ohio, he was in Putnam County in 1827 and just over the border in Montgomery by the 1830 census.

Frank considered him to be one of ours and he along with the DAR dedicated a granite stone in Oak Hill Cemetery to his memory but is buried in what is called the Skillman Cemetery just into Putnam County.  Here is an amazing outline of his life:  https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/22314903/jacob-westfall.
