Maj. Moses G. McLain, 70 years old, a veteran of the Civil War and an attorney in this city for many years died at St Vincent’s Hospital yesterday from infirmities due to old age. He was taken to the hospital Monday night and his condition was so serious at the time that little hope was held out for his recovery. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at the home of a niece, Mrs. William N. Picken, 2160 North Capitol Avenue. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Joshua Stransfield and burial will be in the Crown Hill cemetery. Because of Maj. McClain’s (sic) Civil War record it is probably that special services will be conducted by the GAR although nothing definite has been arranged so far along that line. In addition to Mrs. Picken, Major McLain has a niece, Miss Maude McGolley, who lives with Mrs. Picken and a sister, Mrs. Louis Clark, residing in South Carrelton, Ky – Indianapolis Star. Maj. McLain was a member of the DePauw Graduating class of ’69 and has many friends among the older residents of Greencastle. - kbz
