JOHN BUCK
One of the more interesting of the Putnam soldiers was John Buck who was taken by Indians during the war and kept for four months. Born in Hanover, England in 1752, he enlisted while residing in Cumberland County, PA under Capt. James McConnell of The Flying Camp and served as Sgt for a five-month period. Later 1778 served in same troup for two months under Cap. Mechant and again for a fouth month stint as Lt. under the same Capt. Merchant with Col. Laughery.

It is assumed he died in Putnam County Indiana after his last pension payment on Nov 21, 1836
