Name Samuel Hazlett is misspelled on headstone. Descedents might have changed spelling of the original last name.  It is found spelled MANY different ways

HASLET, Samuel – well, this one is a question mark – when I taught a rotating Parke County History class and we talked about the towns (in fact, we had a lot of fun with them) at Turkey Run HS, I always told them that with Portland Mills they could say yes or no and they’d be right as the counties of Parke and Putnam curved right through it so hmmm.  Samuel is buried in the Seceder Cemetery just beside the Portland Mills cemetery. The Washburn Chapter DAR counted him as ours but on Findagrave he is listed in Parke.
