Mary Ella KELLY, colored, through her attorney CC Gillen has filed suit in the Putnam Circuit Court against her husband, James Kelly for divorce.  The complaint states that the two were married June 17, 1907 and lived together until Sept 1908.  It further alleges that in September 1908 that Kelly deserted his wife and she has had no knowledge of his whereabouts since.  The complaint asks for absolute divorce and the return of her maiden name, Mary Ella Reddick.   ---transcribed by kbz

Notice to Non-Residents. State of Indiana, County of Putnam, SS: Mary Ella Kelley vs. James C. Kelley. No. 8226. Putnam Circuit Court, January Term, 1912. The plaintiff in the above entitled cause having filed her complaint herein for a divorce, together with an affidavit that, the residence of the defendant, James C. Kelley, is unknown and that upon diligent inquiry cannot be ascertained and that he is believed to be a non-resident of the State of Indiana. Now therefore, the said defendant is hereby notified that unless he be and appear on the 32nd day of the next Term of the Putnam Circuit Court, to be held on the 1st Monday of March, A. D., 1912, the same being the 9th day of April, 1912, at the court house in the City of Greencastle, Ind, in said County and State, and answer or demur to said complaint, the same will be heard and determined in his absence. In witness whereof, I hereunto set my hand affix the seal of said Court, this 12th day of Feb.,1912. ARTHUR J. HAMRICK, Clerk Putnam Circuit Court.    ---transcribed by kbz
