Source: Greencastle Banner & Times 24 Sept 1897 p 1

On Friday the case of Dessie M. Hamberlin vs Vincent Hamberlin, divorce was called.  The divorce was granted the judge ruling that the plaintiff was entitled to $300 alimony and $100 for attorney fees.  She was also granted the privilege of using her maiden name, Dessie Croucher.  In her complain the plaintiff avers that she and the defendant were married in August 1896 and lived in this city for two weeks after which they removed to Clayton where they made their home for three months.  During that short time the defendant treated her with so much cruelty that she could endure it no longer and removed to this city, the defendant remaining in Clayton.  Both parties are over 60 years of age.
