Hoffman - Wm - Roxie - 1909 - Putnam

Suit was this morning filed in circuit court by Wm. Hoffman asking for a divorce from Roxie L. Hoffman. The complain alleges that the parties were married in 1904 and that they have lived together till the present year. The complaint further alleges that the defendant has been guilty of cruel and inhuman treatment in that she kept their 4-year-old child long periods without food or sleep and then whipt it for crying.  The complaint alleges further that the defendant has been guilty of unchaste conduct with several men unnamed and that when the plaintiff was absent from because of his business of a traveling man the defendant invited other men to his home and there caroused with them in an unseemly manner. The plaintiff asks for divorce and the custody of the child.  – kbz – how sad
