GREER-WILKINSON Lumber Co. - 1901
GREER- WILKINSON Lumber Company - A.T. Cox, Manager
Source: Souvenir Edition of the Russellville Record, 1901.
This is one of the new business interests of the town and is one of some 35 yards owned and operated by this company. This yard was established in June of the present year. At present the company has one building two stories high and 130' long and two coal sheds 75' long, all situated on ID&W ground near the tracks. The west end of the larger building contains the offices and lime rooms on the ground floor, and rooms for storage of sash, doors, glass and other building material of a like nature in the record story. Back of these are the two-story racks for the storage of thousands of feet of dressed lumber of all kinds; this, together with other building material, coal etc., represents an investment of many thousands of dollars. Mr. Cox, the manger, comes here from Lowell, Ind where he had charge of the Wilbur Lumber Co. While Mr. Cox came to us well recommended, the fact of his acting as manager of this company is the very highest guarantee, throughout the state, that his qualifications as a gentleman, a business man and a lumberman are beyond question. -- kbz
