LITSEY REUNION

The annual reunion of the Litsey family was held Sunday, Aug 5, at the home of Mr. & Mrs. O.L. Myers who live on State Rd. 47 four and one-half miles E. of Turkey Run State Park, with Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Litsey as assistant host and hostess. A large crowd was present and a bountiful dinner was enjoyed on the lawn at the noon hour. Those present were: Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Knee and daughter, Helen; Mr. & Mrs. William Knee and family of Danville, Ill; Mr. & Mrs. Fred Moore of Delphoe, O; Luther Litsey of Freeport, Ill; Miss Sophronia Litsey and Mr. & Mrs. George Newlin of Indianapolis; Bloomer Myers, Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Myers and family, Miss Treva Myers, Mr. & Mrs. Tommie Grimes and Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Sample and son all of near Wallace; Mrs. Effie Moore, Mr. & Mrs. Webb Metzer and son of Kingman; Mr. & Mrs. Carroll Beeson and family of Crawfordsville; Mr. & Mrs. Charles Smith, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Chamness and family, Mahlon Hadley and graddaughter, betty Jo, and MIss Tina Myers, all of Marshall; Mr. & Mrs. Fred Myers and daughter of Waveland; Mr. & Mrs. Clovis Jarvis; Mr. & Mrs. Bion Myers and family; Wood Carter, William McCampbell, Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Litsey and Mr. & Mrs. O.L. Myers and daughters. Music consisting of vocal, piano and guitar was furnished by Max and Kathryn Myers and Betty Jo Hadley. The main feature of the day was the report given by the Historian, Mrs. Florence (Litsey) Newlin. She tells us that Henry Litsey and wife, Nancy Carrico, pioneers of Indiana were the first settlers in Howard Twp, Parke Co, locating on a farm 1/2 mile E. of Turkey Run State Park, in 1822. Mrs. Newlin has succeeded in obtaining a complete record of the descendants of Henry Litsey which are: 15 children; 56 grandchildren; 136 great grandch; 212 gr. gr. grandchildren 60 gr. gr. gr. grandch; 579 descendants; 263 families, 678 people, scattered over the states of Ohio, Indiana, Ill, Mo, Iowa, Washington, Ore, California, Nev, Colorado, Ks, Ok, Ark, Cal, Tex, Ark, Louisiana, Tenn, W. Va, Ky, Cuba, Australia and China. THe officers elected for the coming year are: Elmer Litsey, Pres; Mrs. Edna Metzer, VP, Kathryn Helen Myers, Sec-Treas. The 1935 reunion is to be held on the old home place where Henry Litsey settle din 1822 and lived until his death.
