CEMETERIES AND NAMES OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS BURIED THERE

Indian Creek Hill Cemetery -Take 47 South out of Crawfordsville. The cemetery is about 5 miles out of town on the right (West) side of the road. There are two veterans buried there. David Olinger & John A. Fulwider. Dean Norman is the caretaker of the cemetery. He lives on 300 S.


Maple Ridge Cemetery outside of Waveland-Turn North off SR 47 on the road that takes you to Shades State Park (750 W) The Cemetery is on that road 1/4 mile on the left. There are two veterans buried there. Richard L. Moore & John R. Isaacs


Old Union Cemetery is past Maple Ridge Cemetery outside of Waveland in Brown Twp. Go to the next right turn, turn right and it is on the left about 1/4-1/2 mile down that road. One veteran is buried there. Samuel Swisher


Methodist Cemetery in Waveland- - Go to the top of the hill on the North edge of Waveland (off of 47 going into town on 59) and turn left (East). The cemetery is behind the old Methodist Church. There is one veteran buried there. James Isaacs


Smith-Jarvis or Smith Cemetery- - North side of SR 47 going towards Waveland. On the North side of 47, 0.1 mile West of CR 600W. There is one veteran buried there. Broyles Milligan


Shiloh Cemetery- - Take 136 E to 400 E (Nucor Road). Turn North to a clearing on the West side of the road. Pull off road and walk on a path to the Cemetery on top of the hill. You have to cross creek. There is one veteran buried there. James W. Patterson


Darlington IOOF and Darlington Greenlawn are on the same main East-West street in Darlington. One is on the West end of town and the other is on the East end of town. There are 3 Confederate veterans buried in the

IOOF -- Noah Monroe Brock, James Q. Shannon & -- John Booker (Booher?)

The person who has the records of the IOOF Cemetery is Mary Threlkeld, PH 765-361-8975.

Two are buried in Greenlawn -- William R. Lynch & William Booker (Booher?)

The caretaker of Greenlawn Cemetery is Mike Cohee, 206 S. Madison St., Darlington, IN 47940, PH765-794-4391.


Oak Hill Cemetery - There are 3 cemeteries in Crawfordsville named Oak Hill. The oldest one is the one likely to have the Confederate veterans buried in it. Take Washington Street North out of Crawfordsville to the stop light which is Lafayette Avenue. Turn left (South) on Lafayette Avenue. Turn right on Oak Hill Road. The cemetery is at the top of the hill on the right. There are 8 Confederate veterans buried at Oak Hill. The other Oak Hill Cemetery is on South Grant Street in town. It is the second oldest of the three. (It is the Oak Hill Masonic Cemetery) There is one Confederate veteran buried there. Address is Oak Hill Cemetery, 392 W. Old Town Cemetery - Take Lafayette Avenue North towards SR 231. Turn right (East) on Covington St. The cemetery is on the right (South) side of Covington St. at the top of the hill. There is one Confederate veteran buried there, but he is in an unmarked grave. A memorial stone has been placed on the west end of the cemetery. James A Anderson


Mace K of P Cemetery - - Take SR 136 West out of Mace. Mace is about 7 miles East of Crawfordsville and 5 miles West of New Ross. The cemetery is just outside of Mace on the North side of SR 136. There are 5 veterans buried there. The caretaker is Ben McKinney. PH 765-362-1761

Stoner Cemetery - - Go East out of Ladoga on SR 234. Go over the bridge and past some houses on the South side of the 234. Turn right (South) at the first T road and go a mile South to a T road. Turn left (East). The cemetery is on the right about ½ mile from the turn. There is one Confederate veteran buried. The caretaker is Bill Boone, 1208 W. Watson Dr., Crawfordsville, IN 47933. Bethel-Dunkard Cemetery - - North out of Ladoga on Washington St (750 S). Turn left (West) at the second road (It is a T road) Go West about a mile. As you go across the tracks, the cemetery is on the right (about ½ a mile past the tracks). There are 3 Confederate veterans buried there. William Manges, David H. Mangus, Elijah R. Harris


New Ross IOOF Cemetery - Go South out of New Ross. Cemetery is on the West side of the road at the curve. There is one veteran buried there. Isaac F. Sperry


Harshbarger Cemetery - - North out of Ladoga on Washington St. The cemetery is on the North side of the road just as you go around the curve. If you cross the bridge, you have gone 100 yards too far. There are 6 Confederate veterans buried there.

Ladoga Cemetery - - South out of Ladoga on Washington St. Cemetery is on the right after you cross the bridge. There are 22 Confederate Veterans buried there. Steve has sheet with location of graves. New Richmond Cemetery --Take 231 North out of Crawfordsville. The New Richmond road is at the South edge of Linden. Turn left (West) onto the New Richmond road and follow it until you come to New Richmond. The cemetery is on the West edge of town. There is one Confederate veteran buried there. Clouser Cemetery -- Take SR 47 East out of Darlington to 950 E. Go North on 950 E. Cemetery is on 950 E between E 700 N and W 750 N There is one Confederate veteran buried there. There is a picture on Find a Grave. James Dykes


Peterson Cemetery -- Sugar Creek Twp.-Take 231 North out of Crawfordsville to Linden. Turn East on 1000 N/ E South Street.Follow CR 1000 N to CR 600 East. Turn right on 600 East. There is one Confederate buried there. . William H. Wolfe


Cornstalk Cemetery is Southwest of Ladoga, Take SR 234 West out of Ladoga to the first paved road that goes South (750 W). Follow that road (Cornstalk Creek Road) until you come to the cemetery. Calvary Cemetery (Catholic) -- North of Crawfordsville on 231. It is clearly marked with a large sign on the east side of 231 just past the nursery. The records are at St. Bernard's Catholic Church on Market Street in Crawfordsville. Phone number of the church is 362.6121. There are four vets buried there. Roachdale Cemetery - Take the road out of Ladoga that goes past the Ladoga Cemetery. Roachdale is about 5 miles south of Ladoga. Go straight through Roachdale until you come to SR 236. Turn left (East), the cemetery is on the South side of the road at the East edge of Roachdale. Clifton Hill


Jamestown IOOF Cemetery - Take SR 75 South off I74. The cemetery is on the right side of the road (West) There are two Confederate veterans there. There is a picture of Billy Mitchell's stone is on Find a Grave. William "Billy" Mitchell and William B. Ashwell


Lowry Cemetery - is on the West edge of Jamestown just off SR 234. Take I74 south to Jamestown. Go across SR 136 to west edge of town. Turn left (North) on Lowry street to the cemetery. There are 3 veterans buried there. All three stone are found on findagrave.com but are Union stones. William Brown, Andrew Hobson & Thomas J. Grissom


Old Thorntown Cemetery - - Take SR 75 North off I74. Go through Thorntown to Bevel Road. The cemetery is on W 650 N and Bevel Road on the North East side of Thorntown. There is 1 veteran buried there. His stone is pictured on Find a Grave. John Bush


Hebron Cemetery- - is just off SR 236 (South). Take SR 341 South out of Crawfordsville. Turn West on 236. The cemetery is on the second road after county road 375. There is 1 veteran buried there. Charles Alex Howell, Sr.


Bethany Cemetery -- East of Marshall on SR 236. Take SR 47 south out of Crawfordsville. Go past Turkey Run State Park. Turn south on SR 41. Take SR 41 south to SR 236 and turn left (East). Go through Marshall until you come to the cemetery. It is on the north side of the road. There is 1 veteran buried there. Henry Clay Thomas
