Crawfordsville – Trial was started in circuit court here Monday before a jury of the damage action brought by the Travelers Insurance Company against the city of Crawfordsville and the Pike Construction Company of Bloomington in connection with the death of David Nelson during the construction of the new city building. Nelson was employed by the Lane, Pyke, Werkhoff Company of Lafayette which held the plumbing contract for the building. The state industrial board ordered the insurance company to pay Nelson’s family compensation of $3,000 but the company, charging negligence is now suing the city and general contractor.
