Darlington – Mrs. Jessie M. Delano, librarian at Darlington for 35 years died Thursday at Culver Hospital at 2:12 a.m. She was 72 years old on Wednesday. Mrs. Delano was born Oct 9, 1896 at Browns Valley the daughter of John and Nellie Boots Miller. She married Charles E. Delano Aug 31, 1918 at Crawfordsville. They started housekeeping at New Market. When her husband died in 1928 she moved to Darlington. Mrs. Delano was a 1914 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. She attended Indiana University and taught school at Ellettsville and New Market prior to her marriage. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. AG Kalil of Mishawaka and Mrs. Richard Vannice of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Charles Miller of Matthews, Ind and Lawrence Miller of Westfield, NJ; a sister, Mrs. Ottis Endicott of Darlington and 8 grandchildren. A son and a daughter preceded her in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bright Funeral Home in Darlington with Rev. Willard H. Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday. --kbz
