DAVIS, John L., PO Crawfordsville, Farmer, Sec 25 (Union Twp as are Warren & Isaac above); son of Randolph & Abigail HOEL Davis was b. April 4, 1831. His parents were natives of NJ; marr. Butler Co OH settled in this co. 1826 on the land where his mother now in her 83rd years - still lives; marr. Feb 6, 1862 Miss Eliza E, dau. of George W. and Margery Van CLEVE BENEFIEL ; natives of Ky and marr. Shelby Co of that State 1826. Mrs. Davis was b. on the farm where they now live Dec 24, 1834. Children's names: George E. b. Dec 8, 1862; Little Harry b. April 13, 1864 d. Aug 30, 1864; Margery S, b. Nov 8, 1866. Mr. Davis was made a Master Mason Montgomery Lodge No. 50 June 11, 1852; Royal Arch Mason in Crawfordsville Chapter No 40, July 30, 1857; Council Degrees in Montgomery Council No. 34 May 5, 1869; Knight's Templar in Greencastle Commandery No. 11 Nov 11, 1870 and is now a charter member of Crawfordsville Commandery No. 25.
