TIMES MAIL David Eugene Phillips of Springville, IN, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at his residence. Born on July 1, 1930, in Wayne County, KY, he was the son of Ben and Roxie (Bell) Phillips. He married Janna Cobb on July 10, 1954, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are four sons: David Phillips and his wife, Trish, of English, IN, Ricky Phillips and his wife, Donna, of Springville, IN, Mark Phillips and his wife, Sharon, of Springville, IN, Tracy Phillips and his wife, Pam, of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Beth Feldman and her husband, Dr. Mark Feldman, of Bedford, IN, and Terri Speer and her husband, Marty, of Oolitic, IN; his mother-in-law, Nancy Stout; one brother, Howard Phillips of Springville, IN; three sisters: Aline Nelson of Houston, TX, Charlene Banks, and Alma Jones, both of Springville, IN; seventeen grandchildren, five great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by six brothers: Herbert, Stanley, R.C., Glen, Luther, and Joe Ray; and two sisters, Carrie Gregory and Opal Chattman. He retired as a welder for the Monon-CSX railroad in Bloomington and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Oak Grove Pentecostal Church in Springville, a member of the Big Red One and the railroad union. Services for David Phillips will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23rd, at the Oak Grove Pentecostal Church in Springville with Bros. Larry Hawkins, Marty Speer, and Jeremy Weddle officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Oak Grove Pentecostal Church, and from 11 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the church.
