Mrs. C. E. McClintock Dies
It was with deep regret that Mr. and Mrs. H.Hudson G. Burdge and many friends received word of the death of Mrs. C. E. McClintock, sister of Mr. Burdge, which occurred Saturday, July 1, at her summer home in Harpswell, Me.
The body was brought to North Vernon Monday where the funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with burial in the family lot in the North Vernon cemetery.
Among those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Burdge, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Day, Mrs. Will Wilson and other friends.
Mrs. McClintock was Miss Gertrude Burdge, daughter of Hudson and Anna Burdge. She was born in Butlerville in 1871.
In her early life she was a teacher.
She was married to Charles E. McClintock in 1893, who with Mr. Burdge another brother, Jefferson Burdge, of Huntington Park, Calif., survive.
In 1943 Mr. and Mrs. McClintock reached their fiftieth wedding anniversary. For twenty-five years they lived in Boston, Mass. They were residents of Mooresville for five years where they endeared themselves to a large circle of friends. The Nature Study club was an organization they enjoyed being affiliated with.
Mrs. McClintock was a life-long member of the Methodist church and was a woman with high ideals and radiated the sweetness of her character all her life.
Like the beauty and fragrance of the rose, those whom her life touched have been the recipients of the outflow from her inward gracious spirit.
Earthly voices are saying, "She is gone," but heavenly voices shout, "She has arrived." Wrapping the drapery of her couch about her she lay down to pleasant dreams" and to live in the hearts who loved her.
"She is not dead-she is just away."
