Jan 1     We are not doing very much. The snow is still on the ground. Pretty good sleighing. Edy came home tonight from Hugh's. He has been gone a week.

Jan 2     We, Edy & Joe went to N. Vernon. Took up some wheat to grind for feed. Went on the sled. Right good sleighing at this time and snows today.

Jan 3     We butchered our hogs today. George Euler is helping us. Snow on and right good sleighing. Thaws a little.

Jan 4     We are cutting up our hogs and frying out lard and making sausages and salting it down. George and Emma is helping. Right cold this morning.

Jan 5     We are at home choreing around. Edy and Joe went to Leiw Lattimore's to a wood chopping. Rain this evening and the snow will go off fast if it keeps warm.

Jan 6     We are at home. We got ready to go to church and it rained hard all the rest of the day.

Jan 7     The creek is the highest today it has been for eight years. The 7th day of August it was 2 feet higher.

Jan 8     We are not doing much. The creek is in its banks now.

Jan 9     We are not doing much. The weather is cool. Froze the ground some last night. Cloudy, thawed a little.

Jan 10     The same, not doing much. There is some snow on this morning and it is snowing more this forenoon.

Jan 11     We went up to Tull Sullivan's. The snow is deep but not very cold. Thaws a little. The snow is 7 or 8 inches deep.

Jan 12     The snow is deeper this morning, 2 or 3 inches and cold. The coldest day this winter yet.

Jan 13     We are at home all day and it has moderated some. There was more snow fell on last night and is snowing some today yet at 12 o'clock. The snow this morning is 10 inches deep on the level.

Jan 14     I am writing a letter to Hugh. The boys are hauling out manure on sled. The snow is 10 inches deep. Right good sleighing.

Jan 15     The boys went to mill to N. Vernon to get some wheat and corn ground for feed for cows and hogs and some for bread. Good sleighing.

Jan 16     Hauling out manure on sled. Right good. Thaws some every day. Freezes at night. Very clear weather.

Jan 17     The same today as on yesterday. Sled runs very well this morning. It is thawing some and very clear weather.

Jan 18     We are cutting stove wood in the woods below Lawrence's. The snow is melting fast.

Jan 19     The same, cutting wood for next winter. The snow is melting off fast. Freezes a little at night.

Jan 20     We are at home. The snow is melting off till it is mostly gone.

Jan 21     I am not doing very much. The ground is wet. The snow is all gone off but a very little bit on the north banks. The wind blows right strong all day. I went up to Thompson Childs' this afternoon to see him about a bull.

Jan 22     The same today, I am not doing much. The boys are cutting some stove wood for next winter. The snow is all gone but the creek did not get up so big. It went off gradual.

Jan 23     Maw went over to help Emma to quilt. Edy went to town. Joe went to catch foxes. I am at home. Right cold this morning, the ground is froze.

Jan 24     Joe and Edy are cutting stove wood. The day is very nice but cool. The ground is some frozen but thaws some.

Jan 25     We are at home sitting around this morning. It is quite cold and at noon it set in to rain and sleeted the rest of the day. Edy is helping Lawrence to haul straw.

Jan 26     We are not doing much, only the chores. The day is right cold but no snow on.

Jan 27     We are at home and Jules (Giles?) Spalden and folks are here today. The day is right nice but cool. Ground frozen, no snow.

Jan 28     We are not at work, only the chores. It set in to snow about 9 o'clock and it snowed all day till night but it fell slow.

Jan 29     We are around the house this forenoon. The snow is only about 3 inches deep, not so very cold. The picture man is here over night and has taken our stock and barn. I and Maw also.

Jan 30     I am not doing much. The boys are cutting stove wood a part of the time. The weather is cool but quite pleasant.

Jan 31     The same today as above. James Marsh and folks are here. Some colder today but pleasant.

Feb 1     I and Joe went to N. Vernon to mill to get some corn and wheat ground for feed. The day is right cool.

Feb 2     We are not doing very much. The boys are cutting some wood. I went to church this afternoon. The weather is right nice.

Feb 3     Went to church. The weather is right nice. Some cold. It thaws some today. Ice on the creek to bear up.

Feb 4     This morning it is a good deal colder with one more inch of snow. The roads are good. The ground is solid froze.

Feb 5     The same today as above. Right cold.

Feb 6     The snow is falling a part of the day and is very stormy and quite cold.

Feb 7     This is the coldest yet this winter. We are not doing anything but chores.

Feb 8     This is the coldest day this winter. The wind blows all day and tonight. The snow is 3 or 4 inches deep. Doing nothing but chores.

Feb 9     Weather some moderated, no so cold today as yesterday. We are still sitting in the house. Right cold.

Feb 10     We are not ding but very little, sitting around. The weather this day is right pleasant with snow on the ground.

Feb 11     We are at the same trade. The weather is very pleasant for winter. Snow on and thaws some and very clear day.

Feb 12     The same today. The boys are cutting wood this forenoon. This afternoon sitting in the house. It is some colder today then it has been for several days and cloudy.

Feb 13     The same today. It is some warmer, melts some. We cut two sycamore logs today to haul and saw for lumber.

Feb 14     We hauled in the two sycamore logs this morning at the cold spring to be sawed for lumber. It is a very nice day and the snow is melting off.

Feb 15     We are only choreing around doing but very little.

Feb 16     We hauled in one stack of hay from Lawrence's. The day is very nice, it freezes some every night and thaws some in day time.

Feb 17     We are at home, the day is right nice. Thaws some every day, some snow on yet but gets less every day.

Feb 18     The boys are cutting stove wood. I am choreing some around. The day is very pleasant. The snow is most all gone off.

Feb 19     I went down on the lower place below levy to sow some more grass seed where the water went over and washed some of it off. The day is cool but it thaws some every day.

Feb 20     I and Edy went to N. Vernon to mill to get corn and wheat ground for feed for cattle and hogs. The day is pleasant but cool.

Feb 21     I am choreing around some. The boys are cutting some stove wood. Thaws some every day, the snow is most gone. Went very gradual.

Feb 22     I, Maw & Edy went to N. Vernon to the Institute. This was a very pretty day. Roads are right good. Weather cool.

Feb 23     The same today as above, Went to the Institute. The weather is very nice and roads good.

Feb 24     We are at home. The weather nice and pleasant. Roads good.

Feb 25     The boys are cutting wood and I am choreing. The weather is very pleasant.

h Feb 26     The boys went to James Otis' to help him get out timber for a barn. The day is very nice and warm.

Feb 27     I went to old Vernon to mill to get feed ground for hogs and cattle. The day is mostly cloudy, looks like rain some.

Feb 28     The boys and Maw are over at George Euler's this forenoon staying. Tom MacDonal fell dead last night and will be buried tomorrow.

Mar 1     Joe went to the funeral of Tom today. It rained some last night and a little this morning. The boys cut wood this afternoon. I hung up the meat to smoke this evening.

Mar 2     The boys finished cutting wood today. I went to church this afternoon. The weather is right nice.

Mar 3     We went to church. The day is right nice but cool.

Mar 4     We are doing but very little, sitting around the fire. It is a right cold day. The wind blows right hard and it freezes all day.

Mar 5     Joe and Edy broke stalks on the bottom on the Liew farm this forenoon. This afternoon we work on the Long Bottom cutting logs and burned drift.

Mar 6     We are at work this forenoon cutting some sycamore logs. This afternoon fixing the road by the creek. It is a nice day.

Mar 7     We are only choreing some. Joe is helping Lawrence to saw wood.

Mar 8     We, all of us, went to N. Vernon with a load of corn and the other load of corn and wheat to grind for feed but they were not grinding and we sold it to the mill. Stormy today.

Mar 9     We, Joe and Edy broke the rest of the stalks on the wheat this morning, then went to the sale at Jonahues?. He sold out his stock on the farm. The day is cool.

Mar 10     We are at home today. Brannon's folks are here and George and Emma. The day is right nice.

Mar 11     We are not doing very much this forenoon. This afternoon worked on the Long Bottom at the sycamore trees on creek.

Mar 12     We took off two head of cattle to Lovett to Charley Trap, the bull and red heifer. The day is cloudy, some cool.

Mar 13     We went down to John James' today. It is a cloudy day and rains some, cool.

Mar 14     This morning Betty Sullivan was buried at the graveyard over the creek at George's. Quite cool. Edy went to Vernon to get feed ground.

Mar 15     We are not doing very much this forenoon. This afternoon, cutting logs on Long Bottom. Right cold with snow on.

Mar 16     We are at work at he old beech tree on the hill by the line fence in the field next to Boner's, making it into wood to burn. The day is right cold, thaws a little.

Mar 17     We are at home. The day is right nice. Some muddy for it is thawing some. Patrick Wells was buried today.

Mar 18     We are cutting down some trees on the Betsy Bottom at he creek at he old damn. The day is very nice, some cool.

Mar 19     Went to N. Vernon to old Vernon and paid the first half of taxes on farm. The day right nice but cool.

Mar 20     We are sitting in the house most of the day. It is very stormy day. Snows and blows right hard most of the day, right cold.

Mar 21     We are at work on the Betsy Bottom cutting down some willows. The snow is part on yet that fell on yesterday but thaws.

Mar 22     On the same and got the logs cut and a part of them and the willows burned. It is chilly weather yet with some snow on yet.

Mar 23     We went down on the lower Liew thicket to cut up the old Elm and burn it up and cut some stove wood. Snow gone.

Mar 24     We are at home. The weather is very nice and warm today and very pretty day.

Mar 25     We are clearing off along the creek on the Betsy Bottom some willows.

Mar 26     The same a part of the day. Edy is harrowing the orchard this forenoon so as to sow clover. I sowed the clover. Weather very nice.

Mar 27     Joe and I went to N. Vernon to take up feed to get ground. Then got a few fruit trees off Pennington as we came home. Weather nice and warm.

Mar 28     We sowed our oats on the lower 7 acre piece below Tull's meadow. Very nice day, the ground is some wet.

Mar 29     We went to the barn raising at James Otis'. The day is very nice and is drying off fast.

Mar 30     I sowed clover seed this forenoon and got the bottom about half sowed. Edy is below breaking stubble. This afternoon hauled manure.

Mar 31     We are at home and Tull and folks are here today. Very nice day and warm and pleasant.

Apr 1     We was a grubbing over the creek at Jerries' on the corner by the roadside. Rain this afternoon.

Apr 2     This is a dark day and rains some most of the day slow and snows a little a part of the day.

Apr 3     We went over the creek and finished our piece of grubbing over there at noon. Then hauled away the fence on the Betsy Bottom. Cool weather.

Apr 4     Edy took five hogs out to Lovett to Morin, price per bu. 4.40 per hun. We went to N. Vernon to mill to get feed ground. Nice day.

Apr 5     We are preparing the ground over the creek at Jerries' for locust trees this forenoon. This afternoon went up to Earl's above Norman Gannon's and got a lot of trees and brought them and set out.

Apr 6     Edy and I went up to John Wrape's and got enough locust to set out the rest of the corn to locust. We set the rest of them out. The day is nice.

Apr 7     We went over to George Euler's. The day is nice.

Apr 8     We are not doing very much this forenoon. It is rainy. I bought 7 head of hogs off Billy Boner this evening. $4.25/hun.

Apr 9     We went across the creek to put up the wire fence around the locust patch. The day is cloudy.

Apr 10     We went down on the lower Liew farm to cut briars and logs that the water took up in the field. We logged them. Finished sowing clover seed.

Apr 11     We hauled in the stack of hay from up at Lawrence's this forenoon. This afternoon Edy brought home a load of tile.

Apr 12     We are choreing some. We are clearing off some bushes and briars on the little meadow below Lawrence's house. The boys hauled out some manure this afternoon.

Apr 13     We are repairing some fence back of the barn this afternoon. Edy took up a load of corn to McGannon.

Apr 14     We are at home and George and Emma are here. The day is right nice.

Apr 15     We are choreing some this forenoon. This afternoon Edy took up a load of corn and brought home a load of tile. Joe took Maw to N. Vernon to go down on the train to Nabb to see Mary Barnes. Cloudy day.

Apr 16     We are choreing some. It rains some and is damp.

Apr 17     We are hauling down a load of tile from home for the men to put in and this afternoon we plowed the garden and fixed some and then we planted some potatoes for the first.

Apr 18     Edy is hauling out manure on the corn ground. Joe and Jerrie are getting out the wire out of the drift. This afternoon Edy cut stalks with the disk harrow.

Apr 19     Edy commenced to plow for corn this afternoon. Joe and I took off the Long Bottom stalks. Weather is nice.

Apr 20     Joe and I took up corn and wheat to get ground for feed. Maw came home from Nabb this morning. We came home. We took up a load of corn to mill this afternoon, brought home the feed. Weather nice.

Apr 21     We are at home. The day is very nice.

Apr 22     We put in the last piece of oats today and finished planting our potatoes. The weather is very nice.

Apr 23     We are plowing for corn this forenoon with two teams. This afternoon one team is cutting stalks on the field of the Betsy Bottom.

Apr 24     The same today as above and we put out our cattle to pasture and colts this afternoon for the first this year. Weather is nice.

Apr 25     The same a plowing and Joe and I broke the stalks over at Jerrie's this afternoon. The tile men got done putting in the tile at noon today. Weather nice.

Apr 26     Still plowing and have got twelve acres broke this night. The weather is very nice.

Apr 27     Still plowing yet. I and Maw went over to Hayden this afternoon to Dunden's. He appraised my property, the land and personal property. Weather very nice.

Apr 28     We are at home. The weather is nice but need rain at this time. Some is planting corn.

Apr 29     We are plowing, got 19 acres broke this evening. The weather is nice and warm at this time but need rain.

Apr 30     The boys went over the creek at Jerrie's this morning to plow there. Warm and nice, need rain.

May 1     Still plowing. We got a shower of rain before noon. It is needed very bad but it did not rain but very little.

May 2     We are harrowing, making ready to plant. We allow to plant some tomorrow. Weather is warm.

May 3     We harrowed till noon, then this afternoon we commenced to plant first this year over at Jerrie's over the creek. The ground is in nice order and warm. Needs more rain.

May 4     The same at the planting and rolling and harrowing on the Betsy Bottom. Got it all planted but a small piece. Weather nice and warm. Went to church this afternoon.

May 5     We went to church. This is a warm day, need rain right bad. We have planted 15 acres of corn at this time.

May 6     The boys are plowing on the Long Bottom and got it all done this evening. The weather is dry and warm.

May 7     I and Joe took out to Lovett six hogs and one steer to Morin this forenoon. This afternoon planting the Long Bottom to corn. Weather is dry and warm.

May 8     Plowing on the clover 15 acre piece for corn this forenoon with one team for the first on this piece. Joe is rolling on the field below. Edy mowed clover this afternoon on the thicket bottom for seed.

May 9     The same as above, cut clover this afternoon got it done all we allow. The horses ran off and broke the machine. Joe is rolling on the field below clover. I took up a load of corn to P.C.McGannon, got 48cents bushel.

May 10     Edy is plowing on clover 15 acre piece. Joe is planting the field below. Got it all done. Have got 28 acres planted at this time. Weather dry.

May 11     Plowing and harrowing today on 15 acre piece, most half done this piece. It turned cool and rained a little but very little.

May 12     We are at home, the day is very cool and a few sprinkles of rain.

May 13     The boys are plowing on the 15 acre piece. The weather is cool. I am over the creek by Jerrie's cutting down willows.

May 14     The same today as above. There was some frost last night and today. It is very cool and windy.

May 15     I and Edy took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to get ground for feed. Got it ground, came home and commenced to pant the 15 acre piece. Weather cool and frost.

May 16     The same today as above. Planting the rest of the field, got it most done. Weather cool with frost.

May 17     The same and got all done planting today but the corn and potatoes that is up are badly frosted. Weather cool.

May 18     Breaking up a part of the old Sullivan Bottom to sow corn on. This afternoon went to N. Vernon, Joe, I and Maw.

May 19     We are at home. The weather is cool. Looks like rain.

May 20     We are choreing some this forenoon. It is raining some this afternoon. Plowed on the old Sullivan Bottom to sow corn. Cool weather.

May 21     We took off our hogs to Lovett, 25 of them. Sold to Mornen at 4.10/hun. The weather is cool since the rain. It did not rain but very little.

May 22     We hauled corn to N. Vernon mill to P.C. McGannon with three teams, 2 loads a piece. Weather very cool. Some frost at night.

May 23     We hauled 108 1/2 bu wheat to Hayden Mill this forenoon at .70 bu. This afternoon plowed some corn for the first.

May 24     We rolled some corn ready to plow. Weather dry.

May 25     Worked some in corn part of day. This afternoon I and Maw went to town. Still dry yet.

May 26     We are at home and Hedges' are here today. Some rain this morning, enough to do some good.

May 27     Plowing corn and Joe is harrowing some this forenoon. This afternoon took a load of corn to N. Vernon to Cora, .50 bu.

May 28     We were hauling wheat to N. Vernon to mill, 206 bu at .80.

May 29     We are hauling corn to N. Vernon mill to P.C. McGannon at .50/bu. 128 hauled to them. Weather dry yet. Need rain good.

May 30     Edy is plowing corn over the creek first time. Joe cut the willows down over the creek today. I planted some pumpkin seed. Weather dry.

May 31     Joe and Edy are plowing corn. I am this afternoon sprouting off the stumps on the lower thicket. Weather dry.

Jun 1     Plowing corn, have got over 20 acres once at noon, then we replanted corn on the field a side of Burgmyer's. Very dry yet.

Jun 2     Went to church. The weather is very warm and dry.

Jun 3     We trimmed the hedge fence today. Pete Canfield helped. Joe is rolling. Edy is replanting corn on the 15 acre piece. Very warm today.

Jun 4     We finished the replanting this forenoon. This afternoon plowing corn. Little rain this afternoon and more tonight.

Jun 5     We took up two loads of corn to P. C. McGannon mill this forenoon. This afternoon plowed corn. Weather cool since the rain.

Jun 6     We are at work in the corn. I am hoeing out the vines out of the corn. The weather is cool since the showers.

Jun 7     The same today as on yesterday. Cool, need more rain.

Jun 8     Still at the corn. The weather is dry.

Jun 9     We are at home. Weather is hot and dry.

Jun 10     Edy is plowing corn over the creek this forenoon and I am mowing down weeds. Went to town this evening and brought home the mowing machine. Hot and dry.

Jun 11     We were down on the Bottom fixing some wire fence on John James' to get water for cattle. Commenced to cut clover this afternoon. Hot and dry.

Jun 12     We are working in the corn this forenoon. This afternoon putting up clover hay. It is not a very good day. It is cloudy part of the day but did not rain any yet.

Jun 13     We put up clover hay from 9 o'clock, the rest of the day. It is a fine day to cure clover. Very dry weather, need rain very bad.

Jun 14     The same today as on yesterday and got all done on the Long Bottom but one load to haul in the morning. Weather still dry.

Jun 15     We are at work in the corn on the Betsy Bottom, 3 plowing this time. I went to N. Vernon this afternoon and got a new hay rake. Weather very dry.

Jun 16     We are at home. The day is very warm and dry. Need rain.

Jun 17     We went down on the Low Bottom to cut clover. The rest is at work in corn. Weather is very warm and dry.

Jun 18     We put up clover hay the most of the day. It is good weather for hay to cure but too dry for anything else.

Jun 19     Edy is cutting second crop clover down this forenoon. It set to rain at 10 o'clock and it rained a very nice rain. At noon it rained quite a nice rain. The rest of us are at work in the corn.

Jun 20     We had a fine rain on yesterday and last night. We are choreing some. It is rainy today. Ground is getting wet.

Jun 21     We are choreing some this forenoon. Trimmed the hedge the second time, then hoed in corn. Ground is wet.

Jun 22     We worked in the corn till 10 o'clock then went down and turned clover that we mowed on Wednesday. It has damage some. Boys plowed corn this morning, a little wet.

Jun 23     We are at home today. F. R. Gannon and Jane are here, also Sebe and Lissie, George and Emma. Weather is warm.

Jun 24     We finished our clover hay this morning. This afternoon we helped Lawrence to put in his hay. Day is nice.

Jun 25     Edy went down to cut wheat on the bottom next to John James'. He broke at noon and we had to go to town for a spring. Sowed the millet.

Jun 26     We cut wheat all day today. We will get done tomorrow if nothing hinders. Joe is plowing corn over the creek today. Rolled the millet.

Jun 27     We got done our wheat at 4 o'clock then went to the corn work. Weather is nice. Lawrence and Joe are plowing corn, the last time.

Jun 28     The same today at work in the corn plowing. I and Lime Canfield are hoeing out weeds and pulling out suckers. Weather is nice. Corn grows fast.

Jun 29     The same at corn work. This afternoon I went to N. Vernon to mill. Weather is nice, need rain again.

Jun 30     I am at home, the rest are over at George's today. Day is very nice.

Jul 1     There was a nice rain fell last night and a little this morning. We are choreing this forenoon. This afternoon we plowed in the rest of the tile.

Jul 2     We are over the creek by Jerrie's hoeing out weeds out of corn. The weather is nice. The ground is in nice order to work.

Jul 3     We are at the corn plowing and hoeing and taking off suckers. It is full of suckers. Weather nice.

Jul 4     We went to N. Vernon to the "doings" today. This is a very pretty day, not very warm and some smoky so the sun is not hot.

Jul 5     We hauled in our wheat and stacked it. The day is nice.

Jul 6     We finished our corn plowing at noon today for this year. This afternoon went to church. The last trip for Johnson to preach.

Jul 7     It rains a good rain this morning and it kept on till most noon. Slowly very nice rain fell.

Jul 8     I took up a load of corn to Hamen at N. Vernon. Edy went down on the pipe stem to mow the clover and grass. It is not much of a day for hay, cloudy.

Jul 9     We are at work in corn this forenoon. This afternoon hauled in the hay off of the pipe stem. It was good time for hay this afternoon.

Jul 10     We cut some oats and Edy mowed some this morning on the clover and timothy piece on the 11 acre field. We put it up today. Weather nice.

Jul 11     The same today but put up hay and a little oats. Weather nice.

Jul 12     We cut and put up hay today and got the lower field done and began the field by the house.

Jul 13     We finished cutting oats on the Liew Bottom this forenoon. This afternoon Edy and Joe went to haul wheat for George to machine. He thrashed.

Jul 14     We are at home. The day is cloudy and threatens rain.

Jul 15     We, Maw and I, went to old Vernon to see about the appraisement on the property. This evening we put up the hay that was in shock and cut the rest of the field at house.

Jul 16     Joe is mowing up at Lawrence's house and got it all done and we shocked up the piece at the stable. The day is warm.

Jul 17     We got done all of our hay at 4 o'clock. All done for this year. The day is warm but some smoky.

Jul 18     I and Edy took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to Miles and Bros., got $.50. This afternoon we are choreing. The weather is nice but warm.

Jul 19     Edy is trimming hedge. Joe and I are opening the oats shocks on the bottom so they can dry out some. We began to haul in oats this afternoon.

Jul 20     We finished hauling in oats and stacking this forenoon.

Jul 21     We went to church to hear the new preacher Ebow. The weather is right nice.

Jul 22     We commenced to cut the late piece of oats at 9 o'clock. We cut a part of them and it rained and we quit. Also we are trimming hedge. Got it most done, the third time this year.

Jul 23     We are choreing some, cutting down weeds and got the hedge all done the third time. It rained a little shower and is a cloudy day most of the day.

Jul 24     We commenced to break up for wheat on the 7 acre piece by the thicket. The ground is most too dry, it breaks hard.

Jul 25     I and Joe took up a load of corn to Miles Bros. at feed store. This afternoon we finished cutting oats. The day is right nice.

Jul 26     The boys are plowing for wheat this forenoon. This afternoon bound up the rest of the oats and shocked them. The day is nice.

Jul 27     Joe is plowing. Edy took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to Holts Wiley livery stable. .45 a bu at this time.

Jul 28     We are at home. The day is very nice.

Jul 29     We are mowing down weeds around corn and fences and plowing some.

Jul 30     We went to N. Vernon, took up some chickens and some corn to get ground for feed. Nice weather.

Jul 31     We commenced to haul out manure. The weather is fine. Some cool.

Aug 1     Still at the manure. The weather is nice but needs rain.

Aug 2     The same at the manure till noon. This afternoon hauled in the last of the oats and stacked them. Now we are ready for the machine.

Aug 3     Joe went to N. Vernon with a load of corn to Holts at the livery stable. .45. Edy and I went down to fix the spring for the cattle to get water at John James' spring.

Aug 4     We went to Sunday School, then went over to Smith Wetzel's. The day is right nice.

Aug 5     We hauled out manure the most of the day. The day is right nice, need rain.

Aug 6     The thrashing machine came here this morning and thrashed out our wheat and oats. Number of bu of wheat 286, oats 336. All done at noon.

Aug 7     The boys are hauling out manure this forenoon. I and Maw went to N. Vernon this afternoon. We helped John Hedge to thrash on the Wrape place. Weather dry.

Aug 8     We went to the fair. This is a warm day and dry weather and dusty. Need rain very bad. Mrs. Green died today.

Aug 9     Edy and I finished hauling out manure this forenoon. This afternoon went to the funeral of Mrs. Green. The weather is dry and warm.

Aug 10     We are plowing the little piece of oats stubble below the corn next to George Euler's. Very warm and dry, need rain.

Aug 11     We are at home most of the day. Part of the folks are up to Lawrence's. Harold got hurt on day before yesterday. He is better now. Very dry yet and warm.

Aug 12     The boys are plowing this forenoon and got the little piece of oats stubble done before noon. This afternoon went down on the lower place to sprout off some sprouts.

Aug 13     We went to the show at Seymour. The day is warm and the weather is dry.

Aug 14     I am sprouting off sprouts. Joe is hauling manure. Edy is mowing the wheat stubble. We brought home the cattle, no water for them. Weather very dry, need rain.

Aug 15     We hauled out some manure, Joe and I. Edy is cutting down weeds on the wheat stubble. Weather dry. Need rain.

Aug 16     The same today as on yesterday. No rain yet. The corn is drying up fast.

Aug 17     The same till noon as on yesterday. This afternoon took up two loads of corn, one to McGannon, one to Leitchfield's. Weather dry. Corn drying up.

Aug 18     We are at home and J. M. James and Beck are here and Tull's folks. Dry weather.

Aug 19     We went up to Owen Noon's this morning and got his attachment to cut clover. We fixed it up ready to cut.

Aug 20     We cut some clover and Joe hauled up some stove wood. The weather is dry.

Aug 21     Edy and Joe both hauled up stove wood. I am cording it up. Weather very dry, no rain.

Aug 22     We took up two loads of corn to N. Vernon this forenoon. This afternoon cut clover. Weather dry.

Aug 23     We are hauling up wood in the wood house for winter. The weather is very dry. The corn has dried up very bad for the want of rain.

Aug 24     We went down on the lower Liew Bottom to cut clover this morning for the first on this piece. Then Edy mowed this forenoon and I and Joe took up a load of corn to Haman. A little shower fell.

Aug 25     We are at home, the day is nice but warm and dry. Need rain. The corn has dried up very badly for want of rain.

Aug 26     Edy and Joe are cutting seed clover on low bottom this forenoon. Joe along this afternoon. Edy took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to Miles Bros. Cloudy and threatens rain. We need it bad.

Aug 27     We scraped the barnyard on top and hauled out the scrapings on the oats stubble field for wheat. The weather is still dry, a little sprinkle fell on yesterday, only enough to lay the dust.

Aug 28     We picked up some apples and made cider for vinegar. The weather is till dry with a few sprinkles the last few days has fell.

Aug 29     We, this morning, hauled down a load of wood to thrash clover with on the lower bottom. Then mowed some till noon. This afternoon we helped George to thrash clover seed. This is a good afternoon to thrash.

Aug 30     Rain last night and some more today. It is a nice rain. A very good shower fell today. Edy finished cutting seed clover today.

Aug 31     Joe and Edy are harrowing in the oats stubble for wheat. It is in nice order. I, Maw and Pammy went to town this afternoon.

Sep 1     We are at home. The day is nice.

Sep 2     We are raking up seed clover and turning it this forenoon. This afternoon we helped George to thrash clover.

Sep 3     We are at work at the clover raking and turning. Did expect to get the machine on tomorrow but they broke down. They promised to come day after tomorrow.

Sep 4     We are not doing much this forenoon. It rains this morning a good rain. This afternoon took two loads of corn to N. Vernon to MacGannon at .45 bu. We had a very nice rain, indeed it was.

Sep 5     We are turning clover today. It is very wet from the rain. Edy took up a load of corn to the same as above at .45.

Sep 6     The same as on yesterday. The day is clear and warm.

Sep 7     We commenced to thrash clover this afternoon and thrashed out 8 bu. and quit it. It blowed the seed out and wasted it so they went home. This was Arbuckle's machine.

Sep 8     We went to church to here our new preacher, Ebow for the first time of his new year.

Sep 9     We turned clover this forenoon. This afternoon we went to thrashing about 4 o'clock. The clover is dry.

Sep 10     The same today as on yesterday, at the clover and got the low bottom all done, 62 bu. of seed off the 15 acre piece. The weather is warm.

Sep 11     We finished our clover this morning on the Long Bottom. We got 81 bu of seed on all.

Sep 12     We, Edy and I, took up a load of clover seed to N. Vernon to Tripp Bros., got $4.00/bu. Weather is warm.

Sep 13     We took up two loads of corn, one to Gagen, the other to Leitchfield. The weather is warm.

Sep 14     We took up a load of clover seed to Tripps, got $4.00 a bu. Also took up a load of corn to Corya.

Sep 15     We are at home all day. The day is nice.

Sep 16     We began to cut corn for the first this year. The weather is warm.

Sep 17     The same till noon. This afternoon took up two loads of corn to N. Vernon, then brought home the bone dust we got off Jim Marsh.

Sep 18     We cut corn and Line Canfield is cutting by the shock. Also Billy Wells is cutting. Edy is plowing for wheat on sod piece. Nice weather, need more rain.

Sep 19     The same as above. We are at the corn and took George, Emma and Edy up to N. Vernon to go to the fair at Indianapolis. Joe got done plowing wheat.

Sep 20     The same as above. The folks came home tonight from the fair. The weather is dry, not enough rain yet. I took up a load of corn to MacGannon.

Sep 21     We cut corn. Edy commenced to plow under the millet this afternoon.

Sep 29     We are at home most of the day. I and Maw went over to Sebe Ewing's awhile this evening. Very cool. Big frost tonight for the first to make its mark.

Sep 30     We finished the 15 acre field sowing to wheat. This is all we have sowed. The weather is dry.

Oct 13     I and Maw went over to Frank Gannon's today. The day is nice but cool and dry.

Oct 14     Edy went over to F. R. Gannon's to get seed wheat. He got 16 bu of white fultz wheat. Joe is helping Lawrence to harrow on wheat ground.

Oct 15     We began to sow wheat and grass seed on sod field. We have been waiting for rain for so long now we have to sow it dry. The weather is cool.

Oct 16     The same today and got his field done. The weather still dry and cool.

Oct 17     We sowed the wheat on the Liew farm by MacMannaman's on the 7 acre field. All done tonight, sowing wheat.

Oct 18     We began to sow the rye on bottom. We quit at noon and took up two loads of corn to P. MacGannon, got .35bu only.

Oct 19     We finished sowing rye at 10 o'clock today. Then gathered some corn and pumpkins to feed on. Cool and dry.

Oct 20     We went to church, this is the commencement of the protracted meeting. Weather cool and dry. Froze the hardest on last night of any this fall.

Oct 21     We are digging potatoes and got them done. We allow to commence to gather corn on tomorrow. Weather dry.

Oct 22     We commenced to gather corn to crib. The corn is plenty dry to put up for the weather has been so dry for so long a time and still dry.

Oct 27     We are at home. There is church but our kin folks are here, Kerms, Sebe Ewing and Liz, F. R. Gannon and Jane, George and Emma. The day is nice.

Oct 28     I and Maw went to N. Vernon this morning. Took up Uncle Kerms and Aunt to go to Lewisville this morning. The morning is right cool. The boys are at the corn.

Weather dry. Oct 29     We are at the corn in shock this forenoon. It is very dry, too dry to handle fodder on stalk this afternoon. Weather dry and right cool.

Oct 30     At the corn. Church is going on every night, all last week and all this week. Weather dry and frosty.

Oct 31     Small rain this morning. We went to work in the shock corn today. It was the first time it has been damp this fall. Church today and at night.

Nov 1     Shucking corn on stalk and Joe Hedge is helping. It is clean and frosty this morning and right cool. I went to the mill this afternoon.

Nov 2     Still at corn gathering and a very nice time on stalk but to dry in shock. Church is going on yet. Weather dry and big frosts.

Nov 3     We went to church, the protracted meeting is still going on. The day is very nice but very dry time. The wheat is not half up for it is poor.

Nov 6     The boys finished the piece of corn by Jerrie's at noon. Number of bushels, 250. Began to gather the 15 acre piece. John Wrape commenced to press hay today.

Nov 7     The same today as on yesterday. Pressing hay yet. The weather dry. About 8 acres of corn on stalk to shuck yet.

Nov 8     Got done pressing hay this morning. It rains this morning and by showers all day and all night. Big rain fell and wet the top of the ground very nice. We are not doing much. It is rainy to be out.

Nov 9     We are not doing very much. It rains a very little most of the day. We commenced to make a wire fence on the lower stalk field to put in cattle.

Nov 10     We are at home. The day is very nice after our rain on Friday.

Nov 11     We are at work in the shock corn and I am at work fixing up a wire fence on the Betsy Bottom to pasture the cattle.

Nov 12     We put the cattle in this stalk field this morning. We gathered corn in shock all day. The weather is right nice.

Nov 14     We are in the corn shocks. It is a good time in shocks, it rained a little this evening and stopped us of shucking.

Nov 15     We are still at corn shock. It is a good day today in shock. We got all the lower field done but too small loads.

Nov 16     We hauled in fodder this forenoon and stacked. Joe is shucking. We helped awhile and hauled in a part of a load at noon. This afternoon went to town, Maw and I.

Nov 17     We are at home. The day is right nice.

Nov 18     We are at the corn shocks this forenoon. This afternoon on stalk. Joe Hedges is helping today. Weather is nice.

Nov 19     We are at the corn on stalk today. It rained some. Hedge is helping.

Nov 20     The same as above and got most done on stalk. We have only 11 rows left.

Nov 21     We are hauling in some fodder this forenoon. This afternoon finished all on stalk. We are all done but about 120 shocks at this time. A little snow this morning.

Nov 22     I and Edy went to N. Vernon and took up some apples and sold them for .30 and .40 a bu. It rained all day afternoon and a part of the night.

Nov 23     We are shucking corn in shock till noon. It set in to rain and it rained the rest of the day. Jimmy Gannon(?) and Kerns came here awhile today.

Nov 24     We are at home today. The day is some rainy and tonight it rained hard and tonight the wind blew very hard.

Nov 25     We are choreing some. We killed old Jenny cow and butchered a hog. Put up some fence that the wind blew down on last night. A very little snow falling and some cold.

Nov 26     Today is the day for yesterday. Yesterday was very wet and today it snowed a little all day. We did the butchering today. Cool after rain.

Nov 27     Edy and Clifford are shucking in shock. Joe and I hauled in two loads of corn that got wet out in rain. Then we went to N. Vernon. Took up the hide of Jenny and some chickens.

Nov 28     We were shucking some corn till noon and hauling in. It got dry and muddy and we quit. The ground froze right hard last night and frosty.

Nov 29     We are at the corn in shock. It is a right good day. It rains a very little a part of the day. The fodder is damp.

Nov 30     The same and we hauled in some fodder and corn. It is nice and damp all day. Cloudy. We are most done at this time.

Dec 1     We are at home. It rains some this evening.

Dec 2     I went to N. Vernon and seen about going to Atlanta, Georgia. We cannot get a ticket to stop off so we won't go at this time.

Dec 3     I and Maw started to go to Kokomo this morning to visit Hugh Stewart and the folks out there. We got out to his house about 4 o'clock. Some snow.

Dec 4     We are at Hugh's all day today. It snowed some last night and it is right winterish out and right cold. Snow is about 3" deep.

Dec 5     We went from Hugh's over to F. H. Gannon's and spent the day and tonight at his house. We went from Hugh's over on the sled.

Dec 6     F. H. and Walter took us over to Mark Spalden's to visit at this house. We stayed till nearly night and came back to Hugh's and stayed over night with him again. The day is right chilly but thaws some.

Dec 7     Hugh took us over to Elly Gilbert's to visit them. We went in the wagon over there, then came back with Hugh and stayed overnight with them gain. It is still very chilly and quite cold.

Dec 8     This morning we went over to visit Elie Freelan and Spalding's folks. We came back and stayed with Hugh. We allow to start home in the morning. It is a raw chilly day.

Dec 9     We left Hugh this morning to come home. We came up to Kokomo on the hack. We got on the train to come home at 12 ½ o'clock, we got to Indianapolis at 3 o'clock, waited 15 minutes, came on the Greensburg Rd got to N. Vernon at 5:30 o'clock. Got home at 7 o'clock.

Dec 10     We hauled in foder this forenoon. This afternoon choreing. Dick Gibbs came home today. The weather is right cool today.

Dec 11     We finished all of our fodder hauling for this year. The ground is froze to bear up this morning but thaws some today.

Dec 12     I went to N. Vernon to mill to get feed for the cows and I got a part of a load of coal to burn. The day is right cold and blustery.

Dec 13     We are helping George Euler to shuck corn in shock. The day is nice but right cool.

Dec 14     We are only choreing some, not doing very much. This is a nice day.

Dec 15     We are at home all day and Dick Gibbs is here today and George Euler and Emma are here. This is a very nice day.

Dec 16     I am choreing some. Edy is helping George to shuck corn. Joe is helping Lawrence to shuck corn. The day is very nice.

Dec 17     We, Edy took up a load of clover hay to Jim King at N. Vernon, got 10 a ton. The day is cloudy.

Dec 18     The day the same, took up two loads of clover hay to King. The last of the stack on the lower bottom. It rained today.

Dec 19     We took our hogs out to Lovett to Morin. We sold 24 head at $3.05 a hundred. It rains a little but not much. We helped George to shuck corn after we came back.

Dec 20     We went over to help George to shuck but it set in to rain and we came home. We butchered our beef. It still rains some.

Dec 21     We went to N. Vernon, took up the beef hide and some chickens. The day is damp and chilly.

Dec 22     We are at home only part of the morning. Went to Sunday School. The day is very nice.

Dec 23     We are only choreing. Joe and Dick are helping George Euler to shuck corn till noon. Then it set in to rain and rained the rest of the evening.

Dec 24     We have not been doing very much today. Choreing some. The day is right warm but did not rain today. The rest of the folks are all gone over to church tonight.

Dec 25     This is a very pretty day and warm. I am choreing some. The boys are hunting. It set in to rain tonight and it rained a big rain.

Dec 26     This morning the ground is very wet and the ground is full of water and about 8 o'clock it set in to snow and it kept on most of the day.

Dec 27     This is bad weather. The snow is on the ground but it melting off some. We are not doing much. The ground is wet and bad.

Dec 28     The same today. It is nice overhead but soft and muddy underfoot. We went down this afternoon to see Charley Hess(?). He got shot a week ago.

Dec 29     We are at home. Edy and Pammy went to Sunday School, this is the last Sunday of Sunday School this year. The day is right nice but muddy. No snow, only a few spots laying.

Dec 30     It set in to snow this morning and it snowed all day and was very blustery day. Dick Gibbs went away down on the river this morning.

Dec 31     We are not doing much. The snow is 4 or 5 inches deep but not very cold. Edy went to help George Euler to butcher his hogs. The day is right nice overhead. Thaws a little today.

Mar 9     Joe and I went to old Vernon and got a load of corn and oats ground for feed and paid taxes.

Mar 10     Joe is hauling corn to Tom Dosen at .35/bu. Edy and I are hauling some lumber we got off Sam Young. Weather nice.

Mar 11     Joe is hauling up some stove wood from the bottom that Canfields cut for me. Edy and I are commencing to clear the piece on the thicket.

Mar 12     Edy and I took up a load of clover hay to N. Vernon to Mast Rash, got 10 a can for it. Joe is hauling wood. Weather nice and dry.

Mar 13     We are still in the thicket. We hauled up a load of hay and a load of wood at noon. This afternoon set the thicket on fire. Weather nice.

Mar 14     I sowed the last of the grass seed this morning. Then went to the thicket to work. It is dry. We brought up the last load of hay on bottom at noon and all of the wood.

Mar 15     I and Maw went up to Sam Young's. The snow is on the ground about 2 inches deep. Cool and chilly.

Mar 16     We are a grubbing out bushes below Lawrence's on the hillside. The snow is on the ground some.

Mar 17     The same as above, grubbing and cleaning out a way for a wire fence. The day is some chilly with some snow on yet since Sunday.

Mar 18     We hauled down some posts for the wire fence this forenoon. This afternoon it set in to snow and it snowed the rest of the day.

Mar 19     We are around the house most of the day. It is a stormy day. Snows and blows the whole day.

Mar 20     The snow is melting off fast. The day is very pleasant over head but very sloppy under foot.

Mar 21     Edy and I went to N. Vernon and took up a load of corn to grind for feed for cattle. The day is very nice, snow is most gone.

Mar 22     We are at home. The day is very pleasant. The snow has all gone but it is muddy. Joe went up to Hedge's today.

Mar 23     We are only choreing. It snowed last night and the snow is 3 or 4 inches deep. It is melting off some today.

Mar 24     I am choreing some. Edy is choreing and trimming some apple trees. Joe went to Lovett to help George and Lawrence to take stock.

Mar 25     We are clearing up some thicket and brush below fences on the hill to pasture. The weather is nice but the ground is wet.

Mar 26     The same at the thicket and brush. The ground is wet but is drying off fast. Very nice weather over head.

Mar 27     The same today till noon. This afternoon put in fence posts on the roadside below Lawrence's house for the wire fence. Cool weather.

Mar 28     We, Edy and I are hauling in the last of the straw stack in the barn to bed with. Joe went to N. Vernon to take a load of feed to get ground for the cattle. This afternoon Edy and I put in the rest of the fence posts.

Mar 29     We, Maw & Pammy went to Harrison Spencer's with Tull. It rained some this evening.

Mar 30     We are putting up some wire fence by Lawrence's on road this forenoon. This afternoon at the same. The creek is very high today. It rained hard last night.

Mar 31     We are at the wire fence and got it done. All of the fence next to Canfield's. The day is right nice.

Apr 1     We were working in the orchard this forenoon, trimming up some trees and cut some down. This afternoon commenced to build some plank fence.

Apr 2     We commenced to put up some new board fence by the house along the lane and down the roadside. The day is cool.

Apr 3     We are at the same today and a very cool day with a very cold high wind all day.

Apr 4     The same today, at the fence and got it done. This afternoon went to church. The day is right nice.

Apr 5     We went to church. The day is right nice and pleasant, some cool.

Apr 6     I commenced to sow clover seed this morning. Sowed the flat 10 acre piece below the house. The boys are hauling manure out on the garden. Plowed the garden.

Apr 7     The same, sowed over one half of the 15 acre to clover. The wind raised and I quit and fixed some garden this afternoon and trimmed some apple trees. Weather nice.

Apr 8     I and Edy went on the lower thicket to burn up some trash this forenoon. It is too wet, we hauled out manure. This afternoon Joe took up a load of feed to grind for cattle. Cool day with wind.

Apr 9     We were repairing some fence this forenoon. This afternoon took out the wire fence around the stock field. Rain this morning.

Apr 10     I sowed clover seed all day and got most done, all but a small piece next to George Euler's on the old bottom. The day is nice but some wind.

Apr 11     I finished the clover seed this morning. Then went to town to mill and market. Edy and Joe took up a load of hay to the Brick School House. Day warm.

Apr 12     Maw and I went up to Tull's. Edy and Pamma went out to Mr. Euler's. The day is nice and warm.

Apr 13     We, Edy and I took up a load of hay to N. Vernon today. The day is very nice.

Apr 14     We took out our cattle, 6 head, to Asbury Green at Lovett at 3 1/4 a pound. Weather is very nice.

Apr 15     I and Edy are hauling hay to N. Vernon, two loads to Alby, one to Thenis'?. Weather nice.

Apr 16     We are taking off stalks and burning them up on the three low bottom pieces. Got them all off but the little piece over the creek. The weather is nice but need rain.

Apr 17     We began to plow for corn this morning for the first. The weather is warm, need rain at this time.

Apr 18     We put out the young cattle on pasture on the old thicket this morning and the three colts. The weather is nice but need rain. The boys are plowing on the Betsy Bottom.

Apr 19     We are at home. Weather is nice and warm. Need rain.

Apr 20     I and Clifford Brannan are at work on the lower thicket, burning up brush and logs. The boys are plowing. The weather is warm and dry.

Apr 21     We are at work on the line fence between John James' and I, repairing the wire fence, Clifford and I. The weather is warm and dry. Boys are plowing..Joe is, Edy is not, his colt got cut on the fence.

May 2     It rained a right nice rain last night. Done much good for it has been dry so long, it was needed. Still plowing. Weather very nice.

May 4     We commenced to plant corn this afternoon for the first this year on the Betsy Bottom. Weather is very nice.

May 16     I and Joe went to Vernon to mill to get a load of corn and oats ground for horses. It rained a good shower at noon.

May 17     We went over to F. R. Gannon's today, Sebe and Lissy were there too. Day is very nice.

May 18     We trimmed hedge for the first time. A shower of rain today and tonight it rained a big rain. It is wet.

May 19     We are choreing some. We are piling up some manure at the barnyard. The ground is right wet on top since the rain.

May 20     The boys finished trimming hedge. I went to Lovett to try to buy some cattle. Some rain today.

May 21     The boys are plowing corn for the first this year. Ground is plenty wet yet. I am planting some pumpkin seeds among the corn.

May 23     Rain some last night. We are cutting down some bushes this forenoon. This afternoon plowed corn.

Jun 1     We commenced to haul off our old crop of wheat to N. Vernon to the mill of P. Magannon, got .61/bu.

Jun 13     We cut a little more wheat this morning and quit, it is some green. Plowed corn till noon. This afternoon put up clover hay that had been cut 2 days ago. It is right good this afternoon.

Jun 14     I am at home. The rest went to Sunday School. Day is very nice.

Jun 15     We are cutting wheat and put up clover. Day is nice.

Jun 16     We cut some wheat. Put up 2 loads of clover hay and then we got the biggest rain we had all summer at between 5 and 6 o'clock.

Jun 17     We are this forenoon, mowing down some briars on the thicket pasture. It is very wet. The rain wet the ground too wet to plow corn. We cut wheat this afternoon. Poor weather for clover.

Jun 18     Edy cut some wheat this morning and the knotter would not work anymore so he brought it home and I got Sam Young to cut the rest of it. We put up clover hay. Sam is cutting on the lower field below Tull's.

Jun 19     Sam is at the wheat on the old Sullivan Piece below road. Fisher is cutting this afternoon on the field across the road. We are at the clover. Weather is nice but very warm.

Jul 18     We commenced to cut our meadow by the house this morning and put it up this afternoon. Good day for hay to cure. There is a festival at the Zion Church tonight.

Jul 20     We are not doing much. We cleaned some seed wheat. It rains by showers all day today and tonight it rained a big rain.

Jul 25     We finished trimming the hedge the third time this forenoon. This afternoon, Edy and I are cutting down weeds on the thicket and Joe is digging out the cellar drain. The ground is very wet.

Jul 26     We are at home. The day is right nice.

Jul 27     We are opening the cellar drain and fixing it. I am mowing the yard and some weeds in the garden. This is a very nice day but some warm.

Jul 28     Edy mowed till noon and got all done mowing. This afternoon got all done our hay for this year. Joe plowed this forenoon on the hill below Lawrence's. Very warm day.

Aug 1     Plowing today till 5 o'clock when it rained a big rain. It has been very warm for several days back but is cooler now.

Sep 15     This morning it rained and it rained some a part of the forenoon. We went to N. Vernon. This is the day of the rally on the fairground.

Sep 16     We are cleaning some wheat and hauling to N. Vernon to Evert's mill. The wind has got in to it and we have to move it out, sold at .53/bu. Day is dark and cloudy.

Sep 17     Joe is harrowing out on the old pasture. Edy is down on the Liew land this forenoon harrowing. Too wet to drill this forenoon. This afternoon got the 7 Acre piece most.

Sep 18     Joe is hauling wheat to N. Vernon, took 2 loads. Edy is drilling in wheat. Got done the 7 Acre piece, then began on the other side of it.

Sep 19     We hauled up two loads of wheat to Evert's mill. This is all we allow to take at this time. We took him 333 bushels at .53/bu. There was rain last night and it is too wet to sow wheat today. We have only 10 acres sown yet.

Sep 20     We are at home. Day is right nice.

Sep 21     Edy went down and tilled in a little wheat on the hill side where it was dry enough, then took home Hedge's drill. This afternoon took up a load of corn to Litchfield at .25. Joe is plowing on old field.

Sep 22     Edy is finishing the lower field today. Weather is nice. First frost to make it's mark but is not very heavy.

Sep 23     We began to sow the 11 Acre piece below the road and got the most of it done.

Sep 24     The same, sowing wheat and got the field done a little after noon. Then commenced on the 15 Acre field and got 3 acres done. Weather is nice.

Sep 25     The same, at the wheat and got the 15 Acre piece all done but 2 acres. It sprinkled a little rain today but did not stop work.

Sep 26     This morning Edy finished the 15 Acre piece of wheat, all but the potato patch is in. Joe and I gathered the first load of new corn this year.

Sep 27     We are at home. Day is some wet, it rained a good deal.

Sep 28     We are only choreing. It is very wet this morning and it rains some all day long. Ground is very wet.

Sep 29     The same today as above. It is raining most all day.

Sep 30     This is another day to rain till bout noon, then Joe and I went to town this afternoon.

Oct 1     We trimmed hedge this forenoon, fourth time this year. This afternoon we picked winter apples. The day is very nice overhead, ground is wet.

Oct 2     We picked winter apples all day and got them done. The day has been cloudy all day and looked like rain but did not.

Oct 3     I went to N. Vernon and took up my clover seed and sold to Tripp's for 2.90/bu. Brought out Ebaugh to preach today and tomorrow. The boys gathered a load of corn.

Oct 4     We went to church, Ebaugh preached. Day very nice.

Oct 5     I took up Ebaugh to N. Vernon to go home. Boys are plowing and harrowing on the old pasture. Day is very nice.

Oct 6     We are only choreing. It is rainy. Edy and I brought home the cow and calf from up at Lawrence's this afternoon.

Oct 7     We went to the Silver Rally at N. Vernon today. The day is right nice but cool.

Oct 8     The boys are plowing and harrowing on the old field getting ready to sow wheat. The day is nice.

Oct 9     We sowed wheat on the old pasture today for the first on this field on the upper end of the field. The day is right nice.

Oct 10     Edy and I are hauling out manure on the old pasture on the ground for wheat. Joe is plowing next to the barn and harrowing. Most done now. Very nice day.

Oct 11     We are at home. The day is right nice.

Oct 12     I went to Vernon on the grand jury. It is wet this morning from the rain. The boys are shucking corn out of shock.

Oct 13     The same today as above, on jury. Cloudy and wet, cannot finish sowing wheat, too wet. The boys are shucking corn out of shock.

Oct 14     The same as above, went on jury. The boys are at the corn this forenoon. This afternoon was harrowing on wheat ground. It is dry enough this afternoon.

Oct 15     The same, at court. The boys are putting in the wheat on the old pasture on this end of the field. This has been a very nice day.

Oct 16     The same, at court on the jury. Boys finished the wheat sowing on the old pasture next to the barn. Day is nice.

Oct 17     The same, at court. Boys are shucking corn this forenoon. This afternoon digging potatoes. Weather nice.

Oct 18     We are at home. Day is right nice.

Oct 19     Went to court. Boys gathered a load of corn on stalk this morning. This afternoon dug potatoes. Biggest frost this morning of the year.

Oct 20     The same, went to court. The boys are shucking corn out fo shock. It is damp. There was rain this morning.

Oct 21     Went to court on jury. Boys shucked corn in shock this forenoon. This afternoon dug the last of the potatoes, then sowed the patch to wheat. All done now.

Oct 22     Went to court again and got through today. Number of days at court, 10…$20. The weather is nice. Boys are at the corn on Long Bottom now.

Oct 23     Not doing much this is a rainy day.

Oct 24     Went to the Republican rally at N. Vernon. Day is nice.

Oct 25     Maw and I went out to Tea Creek to church. This is a nice day. Tull's folks were here when we came home.

Oct 26     The boys are gathering corn on Long Bottom. I am choreing some. Weather is very nice.

Oct 27     The same, at the corn. I am choreing some. Weather is nice.

Oct 29     The same and weather nice. I went to N. Vernon this afternoon and took up some apples, then came to Crockleberry's and got 8 pigs off him.

Oct 30     We hauled gravel on the road with two teams. Day is right nice but the wind blows hard.

Oct 31     The boys are gathering corn. I am hauling gravel on the road and plowing some on roadside. Nice day.

Nov 1     We are at home and John Ewing and wife are here and George and Emma. Day is quite nice.

Nov 2     The boys are at the corn. The day is nice.

Nov 3     The boys hauled up stove wood this forenoon. This afternoon went to the election at Hayden. The day is nice.

Nov 4     Gathering corn on the Betsy Bottom on stalk, got this piece done today. Weather nice.

Nov 5     At the corn over the creek at Jerrie's. Weather nice but cool.

Nov 6     We was at the shock corn till noon and hauling in fodder in the afternoon. Went over the creek and finished on the stalks over there. Number of bushels, 250. Weather nice.

Nov 7     The boys went down on the Liew 40 to gather corn on the stalk for the first. I am sorting apples. Day is right nice.

Nov 8     We went to church. Bailey preached this morning. Day is cool.

Nov 9     The boys are gathering corn on the lower forty by the thicket and got it done on this piece of about 4 acres. Day is quite cool.

Nov 10     Commenced to gather the corner at the mouth of Indian Creek. Got one load and brought home the cattle to get dehorned. It set in to rain at noon and rained till 3 o'clock, then we dehorned the cattle.

Nov 11     We are not at the corn this forenoon. This afternoon went at the shock corn on lower Betsy field. There was a big rain last night and the ground is wet.

Nov 12     We are at the shock corn on same. The ground is wet. Day is very nice.

Nov 13     At the corn in shock till noon. This afternoon on stalk on the last piece at Indian Creek. Weather is nice.

Nov 14     The boys are at the corn on stalk. Maw and I went to N. Vernon to mill and market. Day is nice.

Nov 15     We went down to Charley Hess's, George Euler and Emma was there. Day is cool.

Nov 16     Got done all the stalk corn at noon. This afternoon hauled up stove wood. Day is nice.

Nov 17     We are at the shock corn on the old Sullivan Bottom. The fodder is dry. We got it all done. Day is nice.

Nov 18     We fixed the hog lot and hauled out some manure on the patch for potatoes then plowed it. Day is nice.

Nov 19     We are at the shock corn this forenoon. This afternoon hauled in fodder, upset and I got my arm hurt. Cloudy day.

Nov 20     Edy and Joe are hauling in fodder. I have a lame arm at this time. Day is cloudy and dark.

Nov 21     We shucked corn in shock till noon then it set in to rain and we got no more done. The day before noon was nice and the fodder damp.

Nov 22     We are at home. Day is right nice.

Nov 23     We are at the corn in shock. It is in nice order. Day is cloudy.

Nov 24     The same as above. Day is cloudy and sprinkles rain a little most of the day.

Nov 25     We are at the corn and got it all done for this year. The day is nice.

Nov 26     Edy and I hauled in some fodder this forenoon. This afternoon I helped George Euler to haul in corn. Joe went hunting and Edy this afternoon. The day is windy.

Nov 27     Big rain this morning and today it rains some by showers most of the day. We are only choreing.

Nov 28     I and Joe went to N. Vernon, took up some apples got .30. Day is right cold.

Nov 29     We are at home. Day is cold, the coldest time this fall. Jim Sheedy got drowned this night in the creek.

Nov 30     This is a right cool day. We are only choreing.

Dec 1     The same as above, not doing very much. Day is right cold.

Dec 2     We hauled up some wood to the wood house for heating stove. It is right cool.

Dec 3     We hauled some more wood home today. Weather is cool.

Dec 4     I and Edy went to Brownstown today to the Farmer's Institute. Day is right nice but the wind blows some.

Dec 5     I and Edy hauled in some fodder this forenoon. This afternoon went to church. Took over 2 head of cattle over the creek at Jerrie's to pasture on the stalks this day.

Dec 6     We went to church. The day is nice and it is right warm now.

Dec 7     I and Edy put up the wire fence across the lower end of the Betsy Bottom to pasture the cattle on soon now. Joe commenced to work on the pike today, first.

Dec 8     This is a rainy day. We are sorting over some apples and choreing some.

Dec 9     I and Edy are at work on the lower wheat fields, on the fields below Tull, draining off some ponds of water. The ground is very wet.

Dec 10     I and Edy took up a load of corn to town to get ground for the cattle feed. This is a nice day.

Dec 11     I and Edy hauled in the last load of fodder this morning that we had out, all done. This afternoon was fixing the barn shed. Nice day.

Dec 12     We went to N. Vernon to the Institute. The day is nice. Went to church tonight. The Protracted Meeting began tonight.

Dec 13     Went to church. Bailey is the preacher till Ebaugh comes on next Saturday.

Dec 14     I and Edy are a grubbing some in the thicket. This is a dark day and rains a little. It rains tonight.

Dec 15     The same as above, at the grubbing. It is right wet on the ground from the rain last night.

Dec 16     The same as above. Day has been right nice.

Dec 17     We are grubbing today again. This is a kind of cloudy day. We brought home the cattle from the pasture this evening. Church is going on.

Dec 18     We put the cattle in the stalk field this morning. We are only choreing. The day is cloudy and cool. Wind.

Dec 19     I and Maw went to N. Vernon to mill and market. The day is right cool. Church again tonight and tomorrow.

Dec 20     We went to church. Ebaugh and Bailey are both there. The day is right cool. The Protracted Meeting broke tonight.

Dec 21     We are not doing anything but the chores. Day is right cool and the wind blows.

Dec 22     I and Edy went down to the creek by George Euler's to make more wire fence to keep in the cattle. They got out this morning on the other side. Cool a little snow.

Dec 23     I and Edy finished up the wire fence before noon. This afternoon he went out to see Doc Works about the white steer and Queen mare. Cool today.

Dec 24     We hauled out manure on the wheat. This afternoon we hauled on the orchard. Day is pleasant. Ground is froze.

Dec 25     We are at home. George and Emma are here. Day is right nice.

Dec 26     We hauled out some manure on the Orchard and some on the old back field on the sink hole field. This afternoon Joe went to town to get his boots.

Dec 27     We are at home. Day is nice.

Dec 28     We went down on the lower bottom to haul clover hay. It is poor hay. It is moldy.

Dec 29     We hauled one load more from there this forenoon. It is a dark day and threatens rain.

Dec 30     I went to Vernon to Goff mill with a load of corn to get ground for cattle. Got it exchanged, 25 bushes of it. The day is right nice but cloudy most of the day.

Dec 31     We are at home most of the day choreing. Mrs. Patrick was buried today at Zion. The day is nice and warm. We went over to the funeral
