Jan 1     Joe Bertram brought over 2 fat hogs for us for our meat. Then we cut them up and the lard and the sausage. Day is right nice.

Jan 2     We rendered out the lard at noon, all done and the meat salted. It began to rain and most of the evening.

Jan 3     I was draining off some water off of the wheat in the field by the house. Cloudy day.

Jan 4     Some cooler and froze some. Not doing very much.

Jan 5     We are at home all day.

Jan 6     Cloudy weather, dark. Some rain.

Jan 7     Rain most of the day and all night and the creek is up big.

Jan 8     The creek is up high today. Nothing done.

Jan 9     Not doing anything but the chores, got a very bad cold and cough. Nice day.

Jan 10     This is a rainy day. I went over to Lawrence's. Rain all day.

Jan 11     This has been a full day of rain from morning to night. It rained steady but slow. Creek rose slowly but got up high.

Jan 12     We are at home today. Ground is wet from so much rain and the backwater has not all gone yet.

Jan 13     Today is a right nice day after so much rain. E Sullivan and Emma Euler are here awhile today.

Jan 14     Doing nothing but the chores.

Jan 15     The same as above, not doing anything but the chores. This is another day of rain most of the day, very slow rain.

Jan 16     This is another rainy day all day slow and tonight it rained harder. This morning the creek is up big and raised till after noon.

Jan 17     Rain some but not as much. Creek is full. Ground is soaked full of water.

Jan 18     I went to N. Vernon to get some notions we needed. This is a right nice day but the roads are some muddy after so much rain.

Jan 19     We went to church, I and Maw. Fred Young was over at the church.

Jan 20     This is another day of rain most of the day but did not raise the creek so much as the three raises.

Jan 21     This is a very nice day. Ground is wet and soft.

Jan 22     This is a right nice day but it rained a big rain tonight and raised the creek.

Jan 23     This is a dark day, a little rain this morning. Creek is high.

Jan 24     The day is very foggy this morning but it got clear and was a nice day.

Jan 25     We are only choreing. Weather is open, roads are muddy.

Jan 26     We went over to Joe Bertram's today with Emma and A. E. Sullivan. Day is right nice but the roads are muddy.

Jan 27     I am around the house most of the day, I have a bad cough and cold. The day has been right nice.

Jan 28     I went to Seymour, went to Joe Stewart's. It begins to snow about 9 o'clock and keeps on most all day long with a little rain.

Jan 29     I am at home most of the day. I was up to Edy's awhile. Right cool day.

Jan 30     I am choreing some, not well at all. Day has been nice.

Jan 31     About the same as above. Day is right nice.

Feb 1     It turned cold last night and today it is right cold. Coldest this winter.

Feb 2     We are at home and Lawrence Stewart and folks are here. Day is right cool. Part cloudy, some sunshine. Ground is froze to bear up.

Feb 3     Jerry Sullivan died tonight and will be buried on Thursday next. It snowed last night about 3 ½ inches of snow fell and this evening more.

Feb 4     The snow is four or five inches deep now. Thawed a little in warm places. Very clear day all day, sun bright.

Feb 5     About the same as above. Don't thaw as much as on yesterday but very little, but the coldest morning, 6 below zero.

Feb 6     Jerry Sullivan was buried. This is a right cold day. Snow is mostly on, what fell it had thawed a little the last 2 days. The sleighing is right nice.

Feb 7     Still cold and the snow is on yet a good cover for the wheat at this time.

Feb 8     We are at home all day. Joe Stewart and folks are here. Lawrence and folks are here. Day is nice and bright with the snow still on.

Feb 9     Joe and folks are here today and Edy and folks also. Day is right nice. It doesn't thaw any much.

Feb 10     Joe and folks went home this morning. Day is mostly cloudy.

Feb 11     We are sitting around as common, not doing anything.

Feb 12     About the same today. The snow is most all on yet, thaws a little every day.

Feb 13     Nothing doing. Right cool weather.

Feb 14     Thaws more today, thawed the most of the snow off.

Feb 15     Warmer today, thawed about all the snow off. I went to church, elected Brother Swab for another year.

Feb 16     I went to church today. Right nice day. The snow is all off now. Wheat looks green.

Feb 17     I went to N. Vernon, took a load of corn to get ground for feed, got it, brought it home and some bran and oats.

Feb 18     I am choreing some. Dick Gibbs hauled up 2 loads of corn to the hog house for feed. I cleaned out the hog pen. Right nice day.

Feb 19     I went to the sale at Lora Childs' today. Very nice day. Jim Wewen(?) buried.

Feb 20     I am around not doing anything but the chores. Weather is nice.

Feb 21     I went up to Frank Fisher's and got 3 bushel of clover seed to sow on the wheat ground. Weather is warm and nice.

Feb 22     I am choreing around at one thing and another. Right nice day.

Feb 23     We are at home all day. Harold Stewart was here awhile. He is going away tomorrow, out to Howard County.

Feb 24     I sowed some seed timothy this morning. There is about 1 inch of snow on this morning but it all melted where the sun shone on it. Dick is helping Joe Bertram to cut stove wood today.

Feb 25     I am not doing but very little. Day is right nice. Ground was froze this morning, quite hard.

Feb 26     I am around the house all day, smoking the meat. This is a good day for this work. It has rained most of the day slowly. Very dark day.

Feb 27     About the same as above. Feel very lame and stiff. Right nice day.

Feb 28     Rain again today, nothing doing but the chores.

Mar 1     I went to N. Vernon to get some notions to use. Roads are muddy and the ground is wet.

Mar 2     We are at home. Day is cool.

Mar 3     Not doing much. I am alone most of the day, Maw went over to Emmie's this morning to fix a quilt.

Mar 4     I am doing some chores around that needed doing. Rain most of the day and this evening. It snowed a little and cooler.

Mar 5     I sowed clover seed this morning below Henry Burgmeyer. Sowed about half the ten acres sowed to wheat.

Mar 6     I chored this forenoon. This afternoon I went up to John Child to get a bushel of seed corn for Brother Jim Stewart to send to Red (Rud?) Springs. Day is right cold.

Mar 7     I went to N. Vernon to get my steel roofing for my roof on sheds. Right cool day, snow this evening.

Mar 8     I trimmed the grape vines and some apple trees in the orchard. Very nice day.

Mar 9     We went up to Edy's and stayed till this evening. Day is right nice.

Mar 10     Not doing much. Day is dark and rains a little all day.

Mar 11     I trimmed some apple trees and chored some. Day is nice and warm.

Mar 12     I went to the sale at John Ewen's. Did not buy anything. Day is warm and nice.

Mar 13     I am at home. Hauled out some manure out of the hen house and some chip manure out of the wood house. Dick helped.

Mar 14     I chored some today. Joe Bertram and Pammy came over this afternoon. Wind is very high. Rain last night and the creek is up some.

Mar 15     We went to church. Day is right cool.

Mar 16     I went to church myself, Maw did not go. It snows some this morning. Ground is white with snow but it all melted off today although it was cool all day.

Mar 17     I went to N. Vernon to take up the eggs and get some notions. Nice day.

Mar 18     We put the iron roof on the tool shed on the cast side and the barn shed on the north end. Joe Bertram, Stewart Euler, Boner too. Nice day but high wind. Dick helped.

Mar 19     I and Boner are at repairing some old board fence around the barn and house and the chicken park. Very nice day.

Mar 20     I was repairing some old fence and chored around some. Day is nice and warm.

Mar 21     I went to N. Vernon to get some notions that I needed, got them and came home. Right cold day. Wind is cold and blows hard.

Mar 22     I am repairing up one thing or other. Choreing around all day. Day has been nice.

Mar 23     We are at home. Day is right nice.

Mar 24     This has been a bad day, high wind and rain most all day and tonight it rained most of the night. Creek is high this evening and it will be higher tomorrow.

Mar 25     This is a very bad day, creek is very high. Lacks 2 feet of coming to the Meinly(?) flood and still raising and still rains most of the afternoon.

Mar 26     This morning the creek is most as high as it was last night. Rain last night kept the creek up full. It lacked one foot or over, of the Meinly raise.

Mar 27     The ground is full of water and mud. Creek washed out a good many ditches and filled other places. Took all of the fence along the road down.

Mar 28     I went to N. Vernon, took up the eggs and got what we needed. Day is right nice.

Mar 29     I am choreing around trimming some trees in the yard and taking the brush out of yard. Day is right nice.

Mar 30     We are at home all day. The day is nice and warm. Water is all gone off but some low places where holds or washed.

Mar 31     I sowed some more clover seed on the lower piece stalk field below Henry's, south of him and north of Emmie's. Wheat got too much wind. High wind today.

Apr 1     I sowed more clover on next to Emmie's then where the alfalfa pieces that Lawrence sowed to wheat. Day has been nice.

Apr 2     I and Dick hauled out manure on the garden and done some other chores. Day is nice and warm.

Apr 3     We was setting in some posts back of Sam Young's land to make the wire fence. We worked till noon then it rained. We did not go back. Billy worked on the house, fixing in the windows. More rain this evening.

Apr 4     I and Billy Boner was making fence at Sam Young's land this afternoon. The creek is up, runs through the 15 Acre field. Dick went away today.

Apr 5     We put up part of the wire fence back at Sam Young's and Billy put on some shingles on the wood house and repair to board fence by the corn crib. Day nice.

Apr 6     We are at home all day. Day is nice.

Apr 7     I and Boner are at the wire fence by Sam Young's. Edy helped this afternoon, got it done. Day is cloudy.

Apr 8     Not doing anything. Got a very lame back. Day is wet dark and rainy.

Apr 9     Nothing done, wet rainy cloudy weather. I have such a lame back that I am not hardly able to go.

Apr 10     Rain most of the day. Creek up, dark weather. I am still very lame.

Apr 11     Very dark day and cloudy. A little rain, very cool. I can hardly get around with a lame back. Very cool.

Apr 12     I went to N. Vernon to get some medicine for my lame back. Cool day.

Apr 13     We are at home all day. Day is cloudy and dark.

Apr 14     I am very lame, not able to do any work only the chores and that by the hardest. All in my back. Weather is cool now but the ground is wet.

Apr 15     Not much done. I am so lame. I cannot go hardly.

Apr 16     The same as above, got my fruit trees from the Illinois Nursery today. B. Boner planted them this evening. Very nice day.

Apr 17     Nothing done but the chores. Day is nice.

Apr 18     I and Stewart Euler went to N. Vernon, took up some corn and got it ground for feed for the horses. Brought out Jones the plasterer and fixed the kitchen plaster. Very nice day and warm.

Apr 19     We went over to church. Day is cooler today. I still have a pain in my back, no better.

Apr 20     We went to church this morning. Quite cool day.

Apr 21     Nothing doing, not able to do any work. Weather is nice.

Apr 22     The same as above. Weather nice, dry enough to plow now.

Apr 23     The paper man is here today putting on the paper in the kitchen. Very nice day.

Apr 24     I went to N. Vernon, took up a veal calf to Grable then I came home and we plowed the garden and planted some potatoes. Very nice drying day.

Apr 25     I sowed some clover and timothy out at the sink holes by the creek.

Apr 26     I am choreing around some, it is raining a very little sprinkle at near 2 o'clock, now a shower.

Apr 27     We are at home. The day is some cloudy and a little rain falling and cool.

Apr 28     We are not doing anything but the chores. It rains part of the time and is right cool.

Apr 29     I went to N. Vernon then to old Vernon and paid half of tax, $115. Right nice day.

Apr 30     This is the last day of April and I don't feel able to do anything. Weather is nice.

May 1     I am choreing some, not very much. Day is very nice.

May 2     I went to Hayden this afternoon, then over to Allen Hartwell's. Very nice day and warm.

May 3     I went to N. Vernon to get some notions. Very nice day.

May 4     We went to church. Day is nice and warm.

May 5     I took the wire out of the wheat along the road where the water took it out. Fine weather now.

May 6     Broke some stubs off stalks on the wheat below Henry's.

May 7     I burned up some drifts on the stalk fields where the water drifted the trash.

May 8     Joe Bertram came over to plow for corn this afternoon. Weather is dry yet, need rain.

May 9     I chored some today. It threatens rain and we need it now.

May 10     I went to N. Vernon, took up a load of corn to grind for feed for the horses and chickens. Right nice day but cool.

May 11     I and Maw went over the creek to E. E. Sullivan. Very nice day but cool.

May 12     I am puttering around not doing much. Day is nice but dry weather at this time.

May 13     I took out six fat hogs to Lovett for A. Green to ship. Joe Bertram began to plant corn on the Long Bottom this afternoon for the first this year. Ground is getting dry.

May 14     I chored some is all. Joe finished planting the Long Bottom. Dry weather yet.

May 15     I am doing a few chroes. There was a nice shower of rain this evening. It was badly needed.

May 16     I went to George Baker's this forenoon, took Cate and Edy's white mare. Another good rain this evening.

May 17     I went to N. Vernon this afternoon to get some notions needed. Right nice day after the rain.

May 18     Went to church. Nice day after our rain.

May 19     I hoed some in the garden.

May 20     I am doing some chroes, hoeing some in the garden, fixing ridges for sweet potato plants.

May 21     I was reeling up some wire that was along the roadside where the water took out.

May 22     I am puttering around. Joe began to plow the 15 Acre piece below Henry Burgmeyer's.

May 23     I and Maw went to N. Vernon this afternoon. Day right cool.

May 24     I am not doing much. Day is nice and cool. Joe Bertram got done planting corn on old Sullivan. All done over here.

May 25     I and Maw are at home all day. Day is nice but cool, too cool for corn.

May 26     About as common, not able to do much. Weather is cool. Trial of Jim Tyler is this week. (NOTE: He and Romaine guilty of killing McQuade Brothers- 1912)

May 27     I took out one hog to Lovett to Asbury Green, weight 340, got 810 per hundred.

May 28     I went to Vernon to the trial of Jim Tyler. It is going on this week. Nice day.

May 29     I am at home today, not able to do any work. Trial ended this evening of Tyler's and he was sentenced to prison for 2 to 21 years. Very nice day.

May 30     I am around but feel weak, not able to do any work. Weather is warm for the last 3 or 4 days.

May 31     I am not doing very much, not able to do much. Joe Bertram is hauling out some manure on corn field.

Jun 1     I went to church this morning. Day is right warm.

Jun 2     I done a few chores this forenoon. Joe is hauling out manure on corn. I went to George Baker's this afternoon with Queen mare.

Jun 3     I am not doing much. I am very lame and weak. We got a nice rain this afternoon.

Jun 4     I took up all the wheat I had to Vernon and sold it to Seman for .95/bushel.

Jun 5     I trimmed some hedge for the first time. Pete is helping, got it done. Nice day.

Jun 6     I am only choreing, ground not able to go. Weather is right nice.

Jun 7     I done some work in the garden and chored some. Weather is nice.

Jun 8     We are at home today. Nice day but cool.

Jun 9     Choreing some, not able to do much. Weather cool.

Jun 10     Choreing around some. Weather is cool and is getting dry, need rain.

Jun 11     I am mowing down some weeds and dock around the farm. Wool weather now.

Jun 12     I loaded 4 wagons with corn from Sandysinto(San Jacinto?) at 50 cents per bushel.

Jun 13     I went to N. Vernon for oil and notions. Weather is warmer now.

Jun 14     Went to church this afternoon. They elected Jim Marsh, Deacon for Zion Church. Weather is warm now but we need rain very bad.

Jun 15     We went to church this morning, tonight is Children's Night.

Jun 16     I am not doing anything.

Jun 17     About the same as above. We got a nice rain this afternoon.

Jun 18     I chored some, cut down some weeds and dock around the fences. Very warm.

Jun 19     I am weighing out corn for Otto Sterns and finishing up some paint left on house.

Jun 20     The same today and Sterns got all of his corn hauled away from here. Very warm day.

Jun 21     I am measuring out corn and weighting it for Oscar Hutton, he got 84 bushel, 2 loads.

Jun 22     We are at home. Day is nice, warm.

Jun 23     Edy began to cut wheat today out in this field by the cribs. Warm.

Jun 24     Cut some more wheat today, a little rain stopped 2 or 3 hours.

Jun 25     The same as above, cut more wheat, did not get done.

Jun 26     Got done all his wheat that he had here today. Weather is very warm.

Jun 27     I went to N. Vernon and to old Vernon. Got some more medicine off Doc Haiden today. Very warm for several days.

Jun 28     I am plowing the potatoes in the garden. Joe cut a part of his wheat this day. Very warm.

Jun 29     We are at home all day. I am mostly blind, my eye is swelled shut all day. Day is warm and has been for several days.

Jun 30     Joe Bertram finished up cutting wheat here today. Very warm weather every day for the last weeks.

Jul 1     Joe began to plow and hoe weeds on the Long Bottom, fourth plowing. Still warm and is getting dry.

Jul 2     I was helping Joe in his corn on the Long Bottom, hoeing out the weeds and is laying it by. Very warm.

Jul 3     Joe finished up the Long Bottom corn at noon. This afternoon plowed on the leased corn, second time. Weather is warm and getting dry.

Jul 4     I am not able to get around, lame across my hips and stomach. Weather is very warm.

Jul 5     The same as above, no better. Very weak.

Jul 6     We are at home, not able to go to church. There is church today. Weather is cooler today. There has been rain off some where but none here, only a few sprinkles.

Jul 7     I am hardly able to get around. Very lame across my hips and back.

Jul 8     About the same as above. We had Doc Mitchel come out and give some medicine.

Jul 9     I am taking the medicine that the doc left. Weather is not as warm as it has been.

Jul 10     Not able to do any work, taking medicine of Doc Mitchel every day but no better yet.

Jul 11     The same as above. I feel no better yet from all the medicine I have taken. Weather is dry, need rain.

Jul 12     We are at home all day, not able to get out. Lame, cannot go around much.

Jul 13     We are at home, housed up all day taking medicine from Mitchel. Not better yet. Weather is warm yet but not as warm as a week ago. Need rain now.

Jul 14     About the same as above. Doctor was here again. I have a little better appetite to eat but lame and weak.

Jul 15     The same but the doctor did not come out. I am some better. Warm days now.

Jul 16     Joe Stewart and Sadie came up today from Seymour.

Jul 17     About the same. Edy and Lawrence are cutting my grass and putting it up. Nice time to get in hay.

Jul 18     I went to N. Vernon to get some medicine for self off Doc Mitchel and other notions. Edy got up all the hay this morning.

Jul 19     The thrashing machine is around. It thrashed out Emma Euler's wheat, then to Woodwards. Still dry weather, need rain.

Jul 20     We are at home all day. Weather is warm and dry, need rain.

Jul 21     The thrashing machine came over and thrashed out Henry Burgmyer's before noon, then came over and thrashed out ours. Joe, Edy and Lawrence's job did not get quite done.

Jul 22     They finished all of our wheat this morning. Then went to Sam Young's. We had in all of wheat 558 bushel. My half is 276 bushels. Very dry weather but not so warm.

Jul 23     The machine went from Anthony Gawen's to Fisher's after they got their new concave they broke at Fisher's a little before they got done. Not so warm today as it has been.

Jul 24     There was a nice rain fell this morning but not enough for the corn yet. NO thrashing today, too wet.

Jul 25     The machine went to Edy's this afternoon and thrashed out his wheat, then to Peter Bertram's and Joe Bertram's. Nice day, not so warm.

Jul 26     I went to N. Vernon to get notions and medicine for myself. I am very poorly for the last 2 weeks and yet I feel no better, very weak.

Jul 27     We are at home, not able to go around. I and Maw are very poorly, only able to go about, very weak both of us. Warm and dry weather.

Jul 28     This is a warm day and dry weather yet. The thrashing machine finished up this neighborhood today. We had company today, Liew Lattimore, El Sullivan and Hartpence.

Jul 29     I and Billy Boner are repairing wire fence at the creek and put straw in the barn. Very warm and dry.

Jul 30     I am not doing much. I am weak and very lame. Hardly able to walk.

Jul 31     The same today as above. There was a little sprinkle of rain fell this evening. Ground is very dry, needs rain very bad.

Aug 1     I went to N. Vernon for notions and to get Queen mare shod. Day is nice.

Aug 2     I am around home, not able to do any work. Weather is warm and dry. Need rain very bad.

Aug 3     We are at home all day. There is church today but we were not able to go. Not so warm as it has been but very dry.

Aug 4     I am at home still not able to do any work, neither Maw or myself. Weather is still dry but a little cooler.

Aug 5     I went to N. Vernon after some notions we needed. Weather dry.

Aug 6     I am at home sitting, not able to do much.

Aug 7     The same as above, hot and still dry yet.

Aug 8     I went to N. Vernon to get some things we needed. Day is cooler but no rain, ony a sprinkle fell this morning.

Aug 9     I am home. I and Maw. The picnic is over at Hayden Day is nice and cooler than it has been but still dry.

Aug 10     We are at home and the day is right nice and not quite so warm as it has been. Ground is very dry.

Aug 11     I went to N. Vernon to get coal oil and coal. Got them and brought them home. Weather is dry and warm. Corn is drying up in places.

Aug 12     I am choreing some. Weather is warm and dry. Nell came up to the barn with a young colt following her.

Aug 13     Big rain this morning after the long drought. Done lots of good, will help the corn a good deal and the pastures. It is still warm.

Aug 14     I am choreing some but not able to do much. I am very weak and lame. Day is nice but warm.

Aug 15     I went to N. Vernon on a few notions. Day is very warm.

Aug 16     I and Maw went to the picnic over to Jim Marsh's woods. Very warm day.

Aug 17     We are at home all day. Warm day.

Aug 18     I went to N. Vernon, went up with Edy. He took up a load of corn for me and sold it to Bob Wrape for .75/bushel. There was a big rain fell while we was at North Vernon. Brought out a load of coal from town.

Aug 19     I am not doing much, not able to do very much. Weather is warm.

Aug 20     I am not doing very much, not able to but very little. Weather is warm. Edy is plowing for wheat below Burgmyer's.

Aug 21     I went down to George baker's, took old Nell down, her colt is nine days old. Got back home at noon. Day is cooler and cloudy, may rain.

Aug 22     I am not doing very much, not able.

Aug 23     I went to N. Vernon to get some few notions. Edy took up a load of corn for me, he took one for himself. Tom Spencer took the team. This is a nice day and cool.

Aug 24     I and Maw went over to Joe Bertram's today. Day is very nice.

Aug 25     I am choreing some, not able to do much. Weather is very nice.

Aug 26     I was mowing down some weeds and choreing around.

Aug 27     I am painting the wagon wheels and 2 gates, one at the barn and one under the shed at the corn crib. Very nice weather.

Aug 28     Edy took up a load of corn for me to N. Vernon to the livery stable on Walnut Street to Wason.

Aug 29     I went to N. Vernon to get some things needed. Weather is very nice.

Aug 30     I am not doing any work to amount. Weather is nice and rain again. Ground is dry for plowing.

Aug 31     We are at home and the day is nice and warm. Need rain.

Sep 1     I chored some and I painted the doors on the corn crib. These days are very warm.

Sep 2     I went to Hayden and got some corn ground for feed. Very warm day.

Sep 3     I am attending to a sow that had young pigs this morning. She had eleven. Day is warm and dry.

Sep 4     I went over to Hayden and brought over a load of bone dust. Hatty Hosteter's two girls are here from Kansas. Nice day.

Sep 5     I went after another load of dust at Hayden. This afternoon mowed down weeds along the roadside.

Sep 6     I and Maw went to N. Vernon to trade some and to see Doctor Grassman about her eyes. Nice day.

Sep 7     We went to church, I and Maw. We came home and after dinner we had a good rain.

Sep 8     About the same as common, not able to do much. Weather is cooler.

Sep 9     I mowed down some weeds around the fields and chored some.

Sep 10     I went to George Baker's took old Nell down. Very nice day and cooler.

Sep 11     I went to the sale at the Calvin Wilder farm. Bought nothing. Day very nice.

Sep 12     I am mowing down some weeds around the fences and fields. Very nice day.

Sep 13     I and Maw went to N. Vernon. Maw went to get glasses for her eyes off Dr. Grassman. Weather is cool now.

Sep 14     I am at home. Maw went over to Emmie's. Very cool this morning and all day.

Sep 15     I chored some around at one thing or other. Day is nice and cool.

Sep 16     I mowed down some weeds on the wheat stubble by the barn where Edy had the wheat. Nice day.

Sep 17     I done some chore work, not to amount to much. Big rain this afternoon.

Sep 18     Nothing much done, sort of wet this week. Showers most every day, bad time to cut corn and fill silos.

Sep 19     I went to N. Vernon, took up the timothy seed that I got off Wrape and exchanged it for new seed.

Sep 20     This has been a dark day and rain all forenoon, very wet.

Sep 21     We went to church. Day is right cool.

Sep 22     I went to Hayden to election to vote for courthouse to N. Vernon but the old one is to stay yet awhile. Very cool day.

Sep 23     Edy began to sow wheat today on my land below the road next to Emmie's land. It is plenty wet yet. A very little frost this morning for this year, none to hurt.

Sep 24     I was mowing weeds on the fields with the machine. Edy got the 8 acre piece in wheat this evening. The other field is ready to sow. Nice day.

Sep 25     I am choreing some, not doing very much. Dug the sweet potatoes for one thing. Weather is nice.

Sep 26     We went to N. Vernon to the Carnival, I and Maw. The day is cloudy and sprinkled a little rain and cool like day.

Sep 27     We are at home, not doing much. Weather is right nice. Edy finished sowing wheat today on my land.

Sep 28     We are at home all day. Day is cloudy. Our cow is sick, don't' get anymore milk, think she is buckeyed(?).

Sep 30     Joe Bertram finished cutting corn on the field where he had corn by Henry Burgmyer.

Oct 1     Joe began to sow wheat among the shocks today. Cool and cloudy.

Oct 2     Joe is at work at the wheat and got ti done, all over here. Weather is cool.

Oct 3     I am mowing down some weeds and other notions. Weather is nice.

Oct 4     I am burning up some drift on the 15 Acre field and choring. Weather is nice, been no frost to show on anything yet.

Oct 5     We went to church, I and Maw. Then after church went to Lawrence's.

Oct 6     I am choreing some, burning up some drift along the creek.

Oct 7     I and Maw went to N. Vernon on business. Day is warm.

Oct 8     Doing nothing much, some chores. Weather is very warm and getting dry. Edy is digging a well at this time.

Oct 9     About the same as above, not able to do much. Weather is dry and warm.

Oct 10     I shucked some corn out of shock for the first this year. Day is warm. Jim Canfield's wife died and will bury her tomorrow.

Oct 11     I am fixing a trough for the hogs to get water at the pen. The old one leaks. Jim Canfield's wife was buried today. Rain this morning.

Oct 12     We are at home most of the day. We went down awhile to Burgmyer's. Weather is nice.

Oct 13     I shucked out some corn out of shock to feed and hauled it in. Very nice weather.

Oct 14     I went to N. Vernon, took Maw up to go to Seymour to see Joe and Sadie. Nice weather.

Oct 15     I went to N. Vernon this afternoon and brought Maw home from Seymour from Joe Stewart's. Weather is nice.

Oct 16     I and Billy Boner are hauling out some manure out in the meadow where Edy had wheat, then hauled some dirt at the stable and filled it up behind the horses. Day is nice. Joe Bertram sowed a bushel of rye on the Long Bottom.

Oct 17     I chored some. A little wet, there was rain this morning.

Oct 18     I was fixing the outlet of the tile, it had got most stopped up with dirt. Day is cloudy.

Oct 19     We went to church. Day is cool and cloudy.

Oct 20     Fountain Childs died today. Weather is cool and cloudy with showers of rain often.

Oct 21     We put on the roof of iron on the porch. Joe Bertram helped. Sort of a wet cool time.

Oct 22     Fountain Childs was buried today at Hayden graveyard. Sort of a rainy day by spells and cool.

Oct 23     Doing nothing, it rains every day so far.

Oct 24     About the same, rain most of the day. Slow rain falling but not hard.

Oct 25     I went to N. Vernon on business. Joe Bertram took his wheat away from here to N. Vernon to Linkhart's mill. This is a nice day.

Oct 26     We are at home this forenoon. This afternoon we went over to Joe Bertram's. Day is right nice.

Oct 27     I shucked out some corn out of shock this forenoon. This afternoon the rain came and made it to wet to shuck.

Oct 28     I am hauling in some corn I had shucked out of shock for several days. It had rained for 3 days.

Oct 29     I and Maw went to N. Vernon then I went down to old Vernon and paid the last half of tax. Henry Craford (Crawford) died yesterday.

Oct 30     I am choreing some. Corn shock is wet. Henry Craford buried today at Tea Creek.

Oct 31     I shucked out a few shocks of corn. Day is nice.

Nov 1     I shucked a few more shocks out today. First big frost this year.

Nov 2     I and Maw went to church. Day is nice, second big frost this morning.

Nov 3     I chored some, not able to do much. Weather is very nice at this time.

Nov 4     About the same as above, hardly able to go. Chored around some.

Nov 5     Not doing very much. This is nice weather.

Nov 6     I went to the sale of Paris and bought a cow at the sale for $55.50.

Nov 7     Not doing very much. Rains some. Joe Bertram finished gathering corn on the Long Bottom.

Nov 8     I and Maw went to N. Vernon, cool day.

Nov 9     We are at home and Alvin Marsh and Grace are here part of the day. Day is some cool.

Nov 10     I am not doing anything but the chores. Day is right cool and a little snow and snows a little by spells.

Nov 11     Not doing much. Doc Shuman cut the lump off our cow. Weather is cool.

Nov 12     I am not doing very much. Joe began to gather the old Sullivan Bottom corn on yesterday and today again. Very nice day to gather.

Nov 13     I am not doing much, cooler day.

Nov 14     Rain today, not fit to gather corn.

Nov 15     This is the sale of Fount Childs' property. A good deal of rain today, not fit to gather corn. Maw is sick for the last few days. She is a little better.

Nov 16     We are at home and Maw is no better.

Nov 17     I chored some around, not doing very much. Cloudy day and the ground is wet.

Nov 18     I am choreing some. Maw is still sick in bed and the doctor comes out every day or other day. A little better today.

Nov 19     I hauled in some fodder that Billy Boner shucked on yesterday. He helped Sam Young to move today.

Nov 20     Billy shucked today. I hauled in the corn that he shucked out.

Nov 21     Billy shucked till noon then quit and I hauled in the corn and most of the fodder. Joe Bertram shucked out one row for the fodder.

Nov 22     I went to N. Vernon to get some notions we needed. Joe Bertram got done all of his corn over here. This is a nice day. Maw is still sick but some better at this time. Day is nice.

Nov 23     We are at home and Maw is still sick but is some better than she has been. Weather is nice now.

Nov 24     I got my corn all shucked out today and the corn in, all but one small load and 2 loads of fodder out yet. Nice weather now.

Nov 25     I finished hauling in my corn and fodder. Very nice day. Maw is still in bed, not able to be up but is better.

Nov 26     I went to N. Vernon this afternoon on business and to get some things we needed. Some rain this morning.

Nov 27     I am choreing some. This is a dark cloudy day but warm.

Nov 28     I chored a little around. Weather is dark and foggy, very dark day.

Nov 29     I went over to Hayden to settle for gravel got on my land. Maw is better now, can sit up some.

Nov 30     We are at home and it is a dark and rainy day all day and warm. Ground is very wet.

Dec 1     I am not doing anything but the chores. I am not able to do hardly anything. Maw has been down for 2 weeks sick in bed but is able to sit up some the last day or two. Weather is very wet, dark and cloudy.

Dec 2     Not able to do very much but the chores. Maw is still better. Weather is dark and cloudy.

Dec 3     I am not doing much, not able to. Joe Bertram and Pammy came over this afternoon and Joe finished the porch roof this evening. Dark cloudy weather for the last several days.

Dec 4     I hauled a load of rock from Indian Creek to put in the hog lot at the pen where the hogs had dug out a hole, also hauled a load of gravel to put at the water trough.

Dec 5     I was choreing some, repairing some fence, another few things. Weather is very nice and warm.

Dec 6     Rain this morning and a part of the day. I am not doing things but the chores.

Dec 7     We are at home all day and rained some and snowed and stormy most of the day. Charley Gaun (Gahn?) died this morning.

Dec 8     I am puttering around, not doing much. Weather is cooler.

Dec 9     Charley Gawn (Gahn) was buried today. Weather is quite cool. I went to the funeral.

Dec 10     I went to Vernon, got bran off Seman, then went up to N. Vernon got some things there, then came home.

Dec 11     I chored some, this is all. Weather is nice now, cool and frosty.

Dec 12     About the same as above, not able to do very much. Weak and lame. The weather is very nice with frost every night for 4 or 5 nights.

Dec 13     Nothing doing but the chores, not able to do very much. Weather is very nice. Folks are all done with their corn. Jim Marsh has 2 days work yet.

Dec 14     We are at home all day. Day is very nice.

Dec 15     We are going about not very well only doing the chores. Weather is nice.

Dec 16     About the same as above, not able to do much work. The day is nice and has been for several days.

Dec 17     I took out the old sow to Asbury Green to Lovett. Sold for 675 per hundred. Day is cloudy and dark, most all day.

Dec 18     I and Stewart Euler hauled a load of lumber from the saw mill above Otto Hess'. This afternoon hauled out manure out of stable. Weather nice.

Dec 19     I and Stewart Euler hauled out manure out of shed till noon then quit and went to N. Vernon. Nice day.

Dec 20     I chored some around, did not do much, I am not able to do but very little. Weather is nice.

Dec 21     We are at home all day. There is church over the creek but we did not go. It rains all morning.

Dec 22     Doing nothing but the chores.

Dec 23     About the same, not able to do much.

Dec 24     Cloudy weather and dark and rain some. Not well, Maw is all well or better than she was before she was sick.

Dec 25     Christmas. We are at home and Joe Bertram's and folks are here, and Emmie and folks. Ground is white with snow.

Dec 26     I am around home not doing much but the chores. Weather is dark and cool.

Dec 27     I went to N. Vernon. Fisher went with me and he paid off the last note. Weather is right cool. Ground is some frozen.

Dec 28     We are at home and Lawrence Stewart and folks are here. A little snow on the ground, only a little.

Dec 29     I am doing the chores, is about all. Weather is dark and cloudy and cool. Freezes a little every night.

Dec 30     About the same as above. Cloudy dark weather.

Dec 31     I am able to get around and that is about all. Weather is cool and cloudy. Very dark.

Jan 1     I am not doing anything but the chores. Dick Gibbs came home a few days ago. Weather is cloudy and dark for a good many days. Not very cold.

Jan 2     About the same as above, not able to do much. Weather is dark and vaery cloudy.

Jan 3     About the same as above, not doing anything but the chores. There is snow falling today and is warmer.

Jan 4     This is a stormy day. We are at home, we did not go to church. Weather has been dark and cloudy for 2 weeks.

Jan 5     Nothing done but the chores. I am not able to do anything. I am very weak. Very cloudy.

Jan 6     About the same as above, not able to do much. Very lame and weak. Snow is on the ground.

Jan 7     I went to Vernon to A. E. Sullivan's, then to N. Vernon. This is a right nice day.

Jan 16     I and Dick hauled up stove wood from the sawmill on Will Haynes' land. Very nice day and the roads are right good.

Jan 17     I am at home, not able to do much, got a very lame back. Dick went to help Joe Bertram to saw wood. The sawing machine is there. Nice day.

Jan 18     We are at home, not able to go to church today. Neither one of us.

Jan 19     About the same, not able to hardly get around. I am very weak and a pain in my back. Not much appetite to eat. Weather is right nice.

Jan 20     About the same, not trying to do anything but the chores. Weather is right nice.

Jan 21     About the same as above. Weather turned cooler this evening and today it is cool.

Jan 22     Dick Gibbs went over to Hayden with a load of corn to get ground for feed for the stock. This is a right cool morning. I am feeling very weak and not able to get around.

Jan 23     I am only able to go around, very weak and a pain across my back and a shortness of breath. Not much appetite to eat.

Jan 24     Not doing anything except the chores. Weather warm and nice.

Jan 25     We are at home. Nice day.

Jan 26     We had out hogs butchered today by Joe Bertram, Edy Stewart and Stewart Euler and Dick Gibbs. I was not able to help. Sort of a warm time.

Jan 27     Dick and Joe cut the hogs up and tried out the lard. I made out to salt the meat, done it. It is a little soft but seems to be cool. Ground is not frozen.

Jan 28     Sold the Jack colt to Pete Speck for $125.00. Will be 3 year old in May.

Jan 29     We are poking around, not able to do any work. Weather is warm. Roads are good.

Jan 30     I am about the same, not able to do any work. Weather is nice.

Jan 31     Doing nothing, no able to go a mile.

Feb 1     We are at home. I am not able to go at all. Day is some cool but quite pleasant.

Feb 2     About the same as above.

Feb 3     About the same and Doc Mitchel came out today to see Maw and I.

Feb 4     About the same, no better.

Feb 5     Doc came out today. We are not any better.

Feb 6     Still no better yet.
