Jan 1     We are at home all day. This is a rainy day.

Jan 2     We are not doing but very little, choreing is bout all. Got colder since morning and froze up the mud.

Jan 3     Nothing done but the chores. This is a stormy day, snows most of the day and cold.

Jan 4     The same as above. Nothing done. Cold day, the snow did not melt.

Jan 5     About the same, nothing done but the chores. It is right cold today, some warmer.

Jan 6     Nothing done today. Snow melted some but not much.

Jan 7     I went to N. Vernon to mill and to get corn ground for the cows. Got shoes on Cate in front feet. Not so cold today. Snow melted most off.

Jan 8     We are at home all day. The day is right nice, thaws some and is muddy.

Jan 9     Nothing doing. I went up to Issac Canfield's and bought 12 ricks of wood for the cook stove for $10. Day is some cool.

Jan 10     I hauled home some stove wood from Issac Canfield's, hauled 3 ricks. Ground is thawing fast.

Jan 11     Not much done, corded up some stove wood. Cloudy all day and it rains some tonight.

Jan 12     Nothing done but the chores. It rains a part of the day and cloudy.

Jan 13     Not much, the day is rainy and the ground is soft and the creek is high and cloudy weather for several days.

Jan 14     About the same as above. Cloudy weather and rain tonight at 7 o'clock. It rained more.

Jan 15     We are at home all day. Day is mostly cloudy and cooler. The roads are very muddy.

Jan 16     I am not doing anything but the chores. Ground froze up some last ngiht but thawed most out today.

Jan 17     Nothing done but the chores. There was a snow fell last night and this morning, about 3 inches.

Jan 18     The same today as above. Snow melted off some today.

Jan 19     The same as above, nothing but the chores. The weather is bad, cloudy and muddy.

Jan 20     There is church going on this week, since Wednesday night but the roads are very muddy and dark and cloudy weather, not many comes to church.

Jan 21     Nothing done but the chores. I went over to church this forenoon. Church is still going on. Weather is rainy, dark and cloudy.

Jan 22     Went to church, Protracted Meeting is going on now. Weather is dark and the roads are very muddy now.

Jan 23     Nothing done but the chores. Church tonight.

Jan 24     I went to church this morning. This afternoon went to N. Vernon, took up Joe Bertram's wheat to the mill for him that he brought over for seed.

Jan 25     Nothing done but the chores. Wet muddy time. Church tonight.

Jan 26     Nothing done but the chores. Dark muddy weather. Cloudy a little rain.

Jan 27     Nothing done today, it rained the most of the day and the ground is full of water.

Jan 28     The same as on the last week, very wet and muddy to get around much. Warmer for the last 3 or 4 days.

Jan 29     we are at home all day. Weather is some warm but very muddy, soft rain.

Jan 30     Nothing doing. Roads are very bad. Ground is full of water. Creek is high this morning.

Jan 31     Nothing doing. Wet time to get around. Weather is warm.

Feb 1     I went over to Joe Bertram's, took over 2 sows, one red, one black. Road is very muddy.

Feb 2     We butchered 2 hogs for our own meat. Joe Stewart is here and folks. Joe Bertram, Dick are helping to butcher. Right nice day, mostly cloudy. Sun shone out awhile this morning, a little this evening.

Feb 3     We cut up our hogs and salted them down and made the sausage and rendered the lard out. Joe Stewart and Sadie, Joe Bertram and folks, also Dick Gibbs all here. Not very cold.

Feb 4     I went to N. Vernon, there was a horse sale, horses and some mules. The forenoon was cloudy, the sun shone out this afternoon.

Feb 5     Joe Stewart went over to Joe Bertram's this evening to go home tomorrow.

Feb 6     Nothing done but the chores. Big rain this morning. Ground is very wet.

Feb 7     Nothing done but the chores. Dick is helping Emma to butcher her hogs. Right nice day.

Feb 8     Nothing done but the chores. Dick is helping Joe Bertram to butcher his hogs. Day is nice, not cold. Ground is not froze.

Feb 9     Nothing done but the chores. I went to N. Vernon, took up some corn for feed, got it exchanged. Day is right nice but cool.

Feb 10     I and Dick hauled out some manure out of stable this morning. The ground froze to bear up till noon.

Feb 11     I and Dick hauled out the manure out of cattle shed while it is froze this morning. Day is nice.

Feb 12     We are at home all day. Emma Euler is here. Day is nice, a little cool.

Feb 13     Nothing done but the chores. Day is right nice.

Feb 14     I went to the sale at Caipe's(?), 1 ½ mile from Hayden. Day is right nice.

Feb 15     Choreing around some, not doing very much. Day is warm and nice.

Feb 16     I went to Frank Keller's sale. Day is right nice till this evening when it rained a good rain.

Feb 17     I took up a load of wheat to N. Vernon mill, got 86 cents per bu. Wheat has come down.

Feb 18     Not much done, the day is some stormy.

Feb 19     I went to church this forenoon. There was but a few there. It is stormy day and tonight it is much worse so there is no church tonight.

Feb 20     Nothing done but the chores. Snow and sleet over the ground, all covered with snow and ice. Don't thaw but very little.

Feb 21     Nothing but the chores. The most of the snow is on yet and mud under only where it was tramped on yesterday. It froze.

Feb 22     Not much done, nothing but the chores. Snow is on and right cold.

Feb 23     I took off 12 hogs to Lovett to Asbury Green at 705 per hundred. It is right cool day, cold wind. Thaws some of the snow off every day.

Feb 24     I went to N. Vernon, took a load of corn to get feed for the cows, got it. It is right cool but thaws some and freezes at night.

Feb 25     I went to N. Vernon, took up the last load of wheat, got only 83 cents. I bought some woven wire fence at Tripp's, 34 cents rod. Roads are muddy.

Feb 26     We are at home all day. Day is right nice, roads are muddy.

Feb 27     I sowed some clover seed today for the first time this year. Day is very nice. Shuman was here this morning. Cate mare is sick.

Feb 28     Nothing doing but the chores. Cool like weather today. Joe Bertram's mare died tonight.

Mar 1     Only choreing some. I and Maw went over to Emmie's this afternoon to see her and Grace. They are some sick for a few days. Day has been very nice.

Mar 2     The same as above, not much done. Weather is very nice.

Mar 3     Choreing some alone. Dick went up to Scipio with Ted Hight. He moved up today. this has been a nice day.

Mar 4     Choreing some. Cate mare had her colt this morning.

Mar 5     We are at home all day. Lawrence's folks came over awhile this afternoon. Rain tonight and the creek is up right smart.

Mar 6     I went to N. Vernon this afternoon, took up the eggs to sell, got 14 cents a dozen. Roads are muddy where it isn't piked. Cloudy day.

Mar 7     Choreing some. It is very rainy this morning and the creek is high this evening.

Mar 8     The same as above, not doing very much. I trimmed some apple trees this afternoon. The afternoon is bright and nice.

Mar 9     We put in the straw out of the old stack in the barn for bedding for the horses and cows. Then Granvel Childs came up and bought the mules, him and his son for the sum of $300.

Mar 10     I am choreing around some. Day is nice.

Mar 11     I went to Vernon to the bank, then to N. Vernon. Day is very nice and warm.

Mar 12     We are at home all day. Day is right nice.

Mar 13     I and Dick are choreing. Dick is getting some potatoes ready to take to town tomorrow. Cloudy day.

Mar 14     I went to N. Vernon, took up some chickens and potatoes. The day is a little cool.

Mar 15     I and Dick hauled stove wood from Issac Canfield's. Four loads today. This is a cold day. The wind is high and quite cold.

Mar 16     The same today as above, hauled 4 more loads, got done hauling. Cool but a nice day.

Mar 17     We hauled some fence posts from boner's to put up the wire fence. This is a nice day.

Mar 18     Chored some this forenoon. This afternoon went to church, Brother Nicholsen came home with us. Very nice day.

Mar 19     We went to church. This is a nice day, cool like.

Mar 20     I went to N. Vernon this morning. Took up the eggs, then came back to the sale at McMannon's. Day is nice.

Mar 21     I went to Vernon this morning to the bank. This afternoon took a calf to Hayden. Very nice day.

Mar 22     I finished the clover seed sowing on the wheat ground. Dick took out the wire fence at the creek. Nice day. Ed Stewart got the deed to the MacMannon land.

Mar 23     I went to the sale at Rem's, he sold off all his loose(loos) property today. Day is cool and dry.

Mar 24     I went to N. Vernon, took up a load of corn to get feed for the cows, came home and sowed some clover seed on 15 Acre piece this side of field. Nice day but cold.

Mar 25     I sowed all of my clover seed on the 15 Acre field. Ground is getting dry. Weather nice.

Mar 26     We are at home all day. It has rained some all day and cool this evening.

Mar 27     Nothing done but the chores. This is a very stormy day. Wind blows hard and it is cold and chilly day. Sale at Louis Human.

Mar 28     Nothing done today but the chores. This is a very nice day and warmer.

Mar 29     Nothing done but the chores. Day is rainy and bad all day.

Mar 30     Nothing done but the chores. Snow and blowing all day in storms and right cold wind.

Mar 31     Nothing done but the chores. Right nice day but some muddy.

Apr 1     I am doing some chores around the barn. Dick went down to Joe Stewart's at Seymour. Day is right nice but some cool.

Apr 2     We are at home all day. Day was all nice till this evening when it set to rain and it rained all night.

Apr 3     Nothing done but the chores. The creek is out this morning, begins to go through the 15 Acre field but not so much, it did not come through the clover where I sowed it.

Apr 4     Nothing done but the chores. It rained some this morning and tonight there was a big rain.

Apr 5     About the same as above. The creek is high this morning and still raised till noon, a little through 15 Acre field at noon and after.

Apr 6     I went to N. Vernon, took up a load of corn to get feed for the cows and hogs. Day is right nice, high wind blows all day.

Apr 7     I went down to see Dessie Meek about my note I have on him. He said he would not pay it. Right nice day.

Apr 8     Nothing doing but the chores. Ground is drying off but is cool.

Apr 9     We are at home all day. Dick is here but allows to go away tomorrow. Right nice day but cool wind.

Apr 10     I went to Vernon and paid my tax on my property, then went to N. Vernon to the Jocky sale. Dick left for Buffalo this morning. Nice day.

Apr 11     I and Lawrence Stewart sprayed the orchard with lime sulphur. After we got done it set in to rain and it rained most of the night.

Apr 12     Choreing some. It is wet this morning. It rained last night. Creek is full banks.

Apr 13     I am only choreing. It is rainy, very wet.

Apr 14     Not much doing. The ground is wet, the creek is up over full banks.

Apr 15     I am choreing some this forenoon. This afternoon went to church.

Apr 16     We went to church, I and Maw. Day is nice but cool.

Apr 17     I took out to Lovett 4 hogs to Asbury Green. Sold at 6 cents a pound. Red one and black one, got them off Joe Bertram this fall. Day is cloudy.

Apr 18     Today is when I took the hogs - mistake - went today. The day is cloudy and cool, a little rain.

Apr 19     I am choreing around. It is showery all day by spells and stormy.

Apr 20     We put up the woven wire fence along the orchard and yard. Boner, Joe Bertram and Charley Baker helped today. Day is nice.

Apr 21     We finished up the east yard fence and cleared up the trash off the old fence. Day a little rainy this forenoon.

Apr 22     I went to N. Vernon, took up a load of corn to get feed for the stock. Day is right nice but cool.

Apr 23     I and Maw went over to Joe Bertram's. Day has been nice but quite cool weather.

Apr 24     I went to N. Vernon, took up the old wagon to get cut down and wide tires on. Day is nice.

Apr 25     I went down to George Baker's this afternoon, took Cate and Reen mares. Day is nice. Edy began to plow here next to the house for corn.

Apr 26     This is the day I went to George Baker's with the mares.

Apr 27     I plowed the garden and harrowed it, ready to plant.

Apr 28     Not much done, it rained last night and made the ground too wet.

Apr 29     I went to Vernon, then to N. Vernon on business. Rain by showers today.

Apr 30     We are at home all day. Right nice day. Big rain tonight.

May 1     Very wet morning and the creek is getting up. Creek is the highest since last October.

May 2     I am choreing some. Maw and Emma and Stewart Euler went to Seymour today and came home tonight.

May 3     I and Billy Boner finished up the yard fence in front of the road. Right nice day.

May 4     I went to N. Vernon, took up a load of corn to get feed for horses, hogs. The day is right nice but cool.

May 5     We hauled out manure with the manure spreader with Edy till noon. Very nice day, the ground is quite wet yet.

May 6     Choreing some. Tried to plant some potatoes but too wet yet. Edy is plowing by the house. Very nice day.

May 7     We are at home all day. Day is nice.

May 8     Emma got Charley colt to work to plow for corn. Day is nice. Folks are plowing for corn.

May 9     Choreing some. Weather is nice and warm.

May 10     I plowed till noon for Edy in the field by the house. Ground is only in order yet and it is warm and nice.

May 11     I drilled in some bone dust in the field by the house for Edy. 15 rows of corn wide before he planted it. Warm now.

May 12     I went to N. Vernon to mill and market. Day is very nice.

May 13     I was ridding up the old boards that came off the orchard fence. Edy finished planting the corn this evening. Nice weather now.

May 14     We are at home all day. This is a very nice day.

May 15     Nothing but the choreing. Weather is nice and warm. Everyone is getting some ready for corn.

May 16     The same as above. Very nice weather now.

May 17     Went down to George Baker's this morning. Very warm day.

May 18     Choreing some. Weather warm, getting dry.

May 19     I took up a load of corn to N. Vernon. First load sold this year. Burned stalks for Joe this afternoon. Getting dry, need rain.

May 20     Went to Baker's this morning, took old Nell.

May 21     Went to church today. Big rain this evening at 3:30. Wet nice.

Mar 22     I went down to George Baker's after old Nell mare. Rainy day, most of the day.

Mar 23     I took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to Collins. Nice day.

May 24     I took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to Hollowell. Nice day.

May 25     I took up another load of corn to Collins. Very nice day and warm.

May 26     I worked in the garden this forenoon. Plowed the potatoes and fixed a sweet potato ridge. This afternoon mowed down weeds and docks on the 15 Acre field. Very warm day.

May 27     I finished cutting the weeds on this field at noon. Warm day.

May 28     We are at home all day. Weather is very warm.

May 29     I am choreing some. The day is not so warm as on yesterday.

May 30     I am choreing some. Day is right nice. Rain this evening about sundown and a big one.

May 31     I took up a load of corn to Collins at the feed store. Nice day.

Jun 1     I am choreing some. Day is nice.

Jun 2     I and Maw went to Columbus, Indiana. Maw went there to get her eyes examined by the oculus.

Jun 3     I am only choreing some. It rained some and made the ground too wet for an hour or two.

Jun 4     We are at home. This is the Dedication of Weston Church. Warm day.

Jun 5     I took up a load of corn to Seman at Vernon. There was a big rain fell while I was there.

Jun 6     I am choreing some. Ground is very wet from the big rain on yesterday.

Jun 7     I mowed the alfalfa this afternoon. Day is right nice.

Jun 8     We put up the alfalfa hay this afternoon. We trimmed the lower hedge fence this forenoon. Right nice day.

Jun 9     Not doing very much. Day is warm.

Jun 10     Choreing some. Day is very warm.

Jun 11     We are at home and this is a nice day.

Jun 12     I helped Joe Bertram to plow. Day is cool.

Jun 13     I helped to plow till noon when he got done plowing for corn and finished planting. Cool day.

Jun 14     I went to Vernon, took up a load of corn to Seman. Nice day till this evening when it rained.

Jun 15     I am trimming the upper hedge fence. Nice day.

Jun 16     The same today and finished. Cloudy and some rain.

Jun 17     Joe Bertram finished cutting the wheat out back of the barn. Very nice day.

Jun 18     I mowed the yard this forenoon. This afternoon went to N. Vernon.

Jun 19     Mistake - this is the day we went to town, Sunday yesterday.

Jun 20     I am only choreing. Day is very nice.

Jun 21     I took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to Collins.

Jun 22     I am only choreing. Day is warm.

Jun 23     Choreing some. Day is very nice.

Jun 24     Took up a load of corn to Vernon to Seman. Nice rain fell last night.

Jun 25     We are at home. Day is some cloudy and a little rain. This is Children's Day or tonight at the church.

Jun 27     I took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to Collins. Day is nice.

Jun 28     Choreing some around. The weather is nice for work in corn.

Jun 29     I was hoeing out some weeds out of the corn here by the house and the road on Edy piece.

Jun 30     Took up a load of corn to Vernon to Seman. Day is warm.

Jul 1     Choreing some. Weather is nice.

Jul 2     We are at home and all of our children are here today. Day is warm.

Jul 3     I am not doing anything much. The weather is warm.

Jul 4     The same as above, not doing very much. This is a very warm day and there was a little rain fell this evening.

Jul 5     I began to cut some clover and timothy on the 15 Acre piece.

Jul 6     The same as above this morning and Edy and Tom is hauling it in this afternoon. Very warm.

Jul 7     Finished the rest of the hay that was cut down this evening. It rained a little.

Jul 8     I am choreing some. The weather is warm.

Jul 9     We are at home. The day is right warm. Need rain.

Jul 10     Not doing very much. Weather is warm, need rain very bad.

Jul 11     Helping to put up hay. Weather is dry and hot.

Jul 12     I took up a load of corn to Seman at Vernon. Then helped to put up hay that Boner cut. It is very warm day.

Jul 13     I am choreing a little. Day is not quite as warm as it has been. We have not had much rain for a long time.

Jul 14     I am not doing very much, cutting some weeds. We need rain very bad.

Jul 15     The same as on yesterday. Weather is hot and dry yet. The early corn is suffering for rain.

Jul 16     We are at home all day. It rained a small shower this morning.

Jul 17     Billy Boner and Edy cut the first of the meadow and will put it up tomorrow.

Jul 18     They put up all of the hay. All done with the hay. Still dry, need rain.

Jul 19     I am mowing some weeds around the fences. Day is mostly cloudy but no rain yet. Corn firing up for want of rain.

Jul 20     I cut the alfalfa second cutting and put it up. Day is warm.

Jul 21     I went over to Lawrence's. the thrashing machine is there. Weather is warm and dry.

Jul 22     I am over at Emmie's this forenoon. The machine is there thrashing. Day is warm and still dry.

Jul 23     We are at home all day. It is still dry weather but threatens rain a little sprinkle tonight.

Jul 24     The machine has not got over here yet. It is at Millspul's.

Jul 25     The machine came over this morning to Henry Burgmyer's and thrashed his and mine out by noon today, then to Boner's and Young's.

Jul 26     I and Maw went to N. Vernon. Nefkin's barn burned today. Still dry weather yet.

Jul 27     Edy thrashed his wheat. I am not doing much. Still dry, need rain.

Jul 28     I trimmed some hedge. The machine finished up all of the jobs of grain today and took the machine home tonight.

Jul 29     I finished up the hedge, second time.

Jul 30     We are at home and still dry weather yet.

Jul 31     I am not doing anything but the chores. Weather is still dry, there was a little shower this morning, not much.

Aug 1     Not doing much. Weather is still dry, a little shower this morning.

Aug 2     I took up a load of corn to Vernon to Seman. Weather is still dry yet.

Aug 3     Not doing much. Warm and dry time.

Aug 4     Mowed down some weeds on the 15 Acre piece. Very dry yet.

Aug 5     I took up a load of corn to Vernon to Seman. Very warm and dry yet.

Aug 6     We are at home all day. The day is very warm and dry. A little shower this evening.

Aug 7     Puttering around, nto doing very much. Weather is warm and dry.

Aug 8     Not doing very much. Weather is warm and dry, need rain.

Aug 9     The same as above, nothing done but the chores. Warm and dry.

Aug 10     Not doing much. I went over to Hayden this afternoon, took over the lard to Dodd's store. Very warm and dry yet.

Aug 11     I am not doing anything but the chores. Weather is very warm and dry.

Aug 12     The same as above, still dry and warm.

Aug 13     We are at home. There was a little rain fell, the most of it went around. It is very dry.

Aug 14     Not doing very much. Weather is dry and warm.

Aug 15     About the same as above, warm and dry yet.

Aug 16     I took up a load of corn to Vernon to Seman's mill, then went up to N. Vernon and got a load of coal. Very warm day.

Aug 17     I am not doing anything but the chores. Not so warm as it was, but still dry.

Aug 18     I and Maw went to Vernon to the Homecoming. Very nice day. Pretty warm, still dry weather.

Aug 19     I am not doing anything but the chores. This is the picnic at Tea Creek. Still dry but cooler.

Aug 20     I went to church, this is the doings at Vernon, the Homecoming time. We were there on Friday.

Aug 21     Not doing anything but the chores. Weather is cooler now.

Aug 22     I took off 18 hogs to Lovett to Asbury green at 735 per hundred. Still dry weather yet but cooler now.

Aug 23     I went to N. Vernon, took up a small load of corn, traded it for bran and meal. Still dry but looks very low.

Aug 24     I went to the creek where the folks was seining out fish, was there all day.

Aug 25     There was rain last night and this morning. The first rain for a long time. This rain will help to start the grass but there needs more yet.

Aug 26     I went to N. Vernon this morning, took up Sadie and Mima to go home. They have been here several days.

Aug 27     We are at home all day. Day is partly cloudy. Threatens rain, we need more.

Aug 28     I am not doing very much. Weather is cooler now but the ground is quite dry. Needs more rain.

Aug 29     I went to the sale at the Kelso farm. Very nice day.

Aug 30     I am mowing down weeds and stubble where wheat was. Very nice day. Print Gannon came out to Edy's today. Went over to Emmie's tonight.

Aug 31     I went over to Lawrence Stewart's today, I and Maw, Print Gannon and folks are there. They came out on Tuesday from Illinois. Weather is warm.

Sep 1     Print is at Emmie's yet overnight, then they are going to Grave's tomorrow.

Sep 2     I took up a load of corn to Vernon to Seman. Print Gannon went to Grave's this morning. Weather dry and warm.

Sep 3     We are at home and Smith Wetzel's are here. Day is warm and still dry.

Sep 4     I finished cutting the weeds on the wheat stubble today. Still dry.

Sep 5     Very nice rain this morning. I went to George Baker's this afternoon. Roads are muddy.

Sep 6     I worked on the road on the hill at Ted's house, grading the hill down. Very warm.

Sep 7     I mowed down the grass in the orchard and shucked some corn out for feed in the field next to crib. Edy is most done cutting this field up.

Sep 8     I took up a load of corn to Stricklan at 70 cents a bushel.

Sep 9     I am choreing around this forenoon. This afternoon I and Maw went to N. Vernon. Day is nice, warm too.

Sep 10     I and Maw went down to Henry Burgmeyer's for dinner. Stayed till after 4 o'clock when it set in to rain and we got a big rain.

Sep 11     I am choreing around some, mowing some weeds, shucking some corn and other things. Day is warm. Edy finished cutting up the field of corn by the house today. Warm.

Sep 12     I went to the sale of Elgen Wilson's today. John Ross was buried today. Day is nice.

Sep 13     I am choreing some, mowing down some weeds around the house and barn and shucked out some corn for feed. There was more rain this morning before daylight.

Sep 14     I took a load of corn to Vernon to Seman. Some rain this morning and some this evening.

Sep 15     This is partly a rainy day. I am not doing much choreing. Ground is wet now, too wet to work.

Sep 16     I went to N. Vernon this afternoon. Ground is very wet from the big rain last night and the creek is out across the 15 acre field at 8 o'clock and still raised till noon.

Sep 17     I and Maw went to church. Day is right nice but the road down to the bridge is muddy from the backwater. Corn is muddy.

Sep 18     I went over to Joe Bertram's to get bone dust but did not get it, came home and shucked corn out of down shocks. Very wet them that are down and moldy some.

Sep 19     I shucked some corn and hauled it in out of down shocks this forenoon. This afternoon I and Maw went over to Joe Bertram's, he put up his silo today. This has been a nice day.

Sep 20     I am not doing very much. I am lame and sore. Not feeling very stout. Day has been very nice.

Sep 21     I and Billy Boner shucked corn out of shock and hauled it in the cribs to feed. Very damp.

Sep 22     I was choreing some, not doing very much. Ground has dried off so it is fit to harrow and get ready for wheat.

Sep 23     I and Billy Boner and Walter Boner hauled out manure on the corn ground where Edy is going to sow in wheat. Day nice.

Sep 24     We are at home all day. Day is nice, quite warm.

Sep 25     I am choreing some this forenoon. This afternoon I went over to Joe Bertram's to see them fill the silo. Day sort of cloudy.

Sep 26     I am helping Edy to start the drill. He began to drill in wheat this morning on the lower 15 Acre field below. He got it all done. This evening I sowed on more grass seed.

Sep 27     I finished sowing some timothy on where Edy sowed his wheat on the 15 Acre piece. He got it all done on yesterday, began to harrow on the corn field today. Big rain tonight.

Sep 28     Rain today a good part of the day and the ground is wet. This is the day the Carnival commenced at N. Vernon.

Sep 29     I and Maw went to N. Vernon to the Festival, lots of people there. Nice day.

Sep 30     I shucked out a few shocks of corn on the field by the house. Day nice.

Oct 1     We are at home. This is a day of rain. This afternoon and part of the night, hard rain.

Oct 2     This morning the creek is high, runs across the 15 Acre field and is still rising.

Oct 3     I took up a load of corn to the Pump and Lumber Company, got 70 cents. Creek has run down and today is nice.

Oct 4     I am choreing some, not much done. The ground is very wet. I and Edy took up 2 loads of corn to Pump and Lumber Co. - was a mistake.

Oct 5     I am doing some choreing this forenoon. This afternoon I went below Hayden to Crocket's and bought 12 hogs off him.

Oct 6     I went after my hogs that I bought off Crocket and brought them home. The 12 weighs 1165 lbs.

Oct 7     I am sorting over some corn that was overflowed and is wet, that was down. Day is dark and cloudy.

Oct 8     We are at home and the day is cloudy and dark and the ground is wet. Not much sowed at this time.

Oct 9     Choreing some. It is wet time. Some rain today. Not much wheat sowed yet, too wet. Corn is moldy.

Oct 10     I shucked out a few down shocks. They are very wet and moldy and some of the corn is moldy.

Oct 11     I shucked out some corn and hauled it in for feed. It is not very good. Wet weather has molded a good deal of it. This is a nice day.

Oct 12     I shucked corn out of shock. Corn and fodder is damaged by so much rain. Day nice.

Oct 13     I shucked corn out of shock and Walter Boner is helping me. We hauled in what we had shucked out and some fodder too. Day is nice.

Oct 14     I am oiling my harness this forenoon. This afternoon choreing some. Cloudy day, too wet to sow wheat and tonight another big rain fell. Very wet time, very little wheat sowed.

Oct 15     We are at home all day. Right nice day after the rain. Storm and hail.

Oct 16     I am mowing down some weeds and choreing. Loaded a load of corn to take to N. Vernon tomorrow.

Oct 17     This is a sort of a bad day, it rained a big rain last night and some more this morning and the creek is up out in low banks.

Oct 18     I took up a load of corn to Litchfield, the last load of old corn. Day has been nice.

Oct 19     I went to the sale at the Delancy Marven farm. Bought folding bed, chair and clock.

Oct 20     I hauled in some corn out of shock. William Boner and Walter shucked out about 40 shocks today. this is a nice day but the ground is wet.

Oct 21     I hauled in some fodder this forenoon. This afternoon went to church. Cloudy dark day.

Oct 22     We went to church. This is the last time for Brother Nicholas to come. He quit off before his year is up. Day is cool. A little frost tonight.

Oct 23     I took up a small load of corn to Vernon, got feed for it, bran and meal. First frost this morning.

Oct 24     I am only choreing some. Weather is nice. Frost this morning but not as much as yesterday.

Oct 25     I chored some and shucked out some corn out of shock. Nice day.

Oct 26     I shucked some corn and hauled it in and gathered some pumpkins and brought them up. Very nice day.

Oct 27     I and Walter Boner dug the potatoes this forenoon. This afternoon we hauled out the rest of the manure on the cornfield by the barn where Edy is going to sow wheat. He helped this afternoon. Lawrence sowed his wheat on the corn ground today.

Oct 28     I went to N. Vernon, then to old Vernon and paid my last half taxes. Day is right cool.

Oct 29     We are at home all day. Joe and Pammy came over and Grace Euler. Maw is sick. Day right nice.

Oct 30     I was sorting over some corn this forenoon. This afternoon choreing some.

Oct 31     I took 2 calves to Lovett to Asbury Green. Day is cool. Rain last night.

Nov 1     I and Billy Boner are fixing the floor in the hog house.

Nov 2     I am sorting corn this forenoon. This afternoon mowed down the alfalfa grass, it is a cool day. Big frost and freeze this morning.

Nov 3     I am choreing some, sorting corn.

Nov 4     I am choreing some. Cloudy dark weather.

Nov 5     We are at home all day, dark cloudy day. Maw is sick in bed for the last 4 or 5 days. Big rain tonight.

Nov 6     I was sorting some corn and choreing some. Big rain last night and the ground is very wet.

Nov 7     I went to N. Vernon, took up Sadie and Mima to go home on the 2 o'clock train. They have been here 2 or 3 days while Maw is sick.

Nov 8     I am sorting corn and doing chores. Ground is very wet, hardly can get through the field, so muddy.

Nov 9     About the same as above. Joe Bertram is gathering corn. There is a lot of damaged corn and muddy to haul.

Nov 10     About the same. I sort some corn, do the chores, this is about all I do. Maw is better now, soon will be able to set up is she gets along well.

Nov 11     I have not done very much today, chored around some. Maw is not able to set up yet. There is a very high wind tonight.

Nov 12     We are at home and Maw is still in bed, not able to sit any yet. This is a cold blustery day and quite cold. It stormed all last night and rained, then snowed and froze the snow.

Nov 13     I am only doing the chores. This is the coldest morning this fall. Wind blew down lots of the corn and all of the fodder that was shucked out in the field.

Nov 14     Still tinkering around some. Cool day and the cornfield's are very soft and the corn, most of it, is down since the storm.

Nov 15     I set up the fodder that the storm blew down. Joe gathered corn today, first this week. He took his hogs to Lovett on yesterday.

Nov 16     Sorting some corn and doing chores. I am bothered with rheumatism. The weather is cloudy, dark and wet.

Nov 17     I and Billy Boner hauled in fodder this forenoon. Wind is high and rain some. This afternoon it rained most of the time.

Nov 18     I am choreing around. Billy Boner is shucking corn out of shocks. Day is right cold. Call done now but 21 shocks. Joe has about 8 acres to gather.

Nov 19     I went to church today. Maw is not able to go but is able to be up most of the time.

Nov 20     Finished shucking the shock corn. Billy Boner helped all day. The fodder is most in the barn all but nine big stacks out at the sink holes. Big fodder. The day is right cold to shuck.

Nov 21     I hauled in the last of the corn out of this 15 Acre field by the house. Cool day.

Nov 22     I went to N, Vernon, took up 16 roosters, got 7 cents a pound, very low price for chickens. Day is right cool.

Nov 23     This is quite a rainy day, most of the day and cool. Not fit to gather corn.

Nov 24     I am only choreing. The day is right cool with a little snow on they ground. The ground froze a little last night, not fit to gather corn today.

Nov 25     I am choreing some. I am quite lame, got rheumatism in my neck and all over very stiff and sore. Weather is right cool, freezes some at night.

Nov 26     We are at home all day but still lame yet. Maw is around the house still gaining from her sick spell. Day nice.

Nov 27     I am choreing some. Sorting some corn and the chores. Right nice day. Joe is gathering corn, almost done.

Nov 28     I went to Vernon to get some medicine for rheumatism, got it off Doc Heiden. Joe got done the stalk corn.

Nov 29     I am choreing some. I am quite lame and stiff with the rheumatism. Day is right blustery and cold and a little snow on the ground.

Nov 30     This is Thanksgiving Day. Very nice day, some cold. Ground froze last night, thaws a little where the sun shines on, freezes in shade.

Dec 1     I am choreing around same as above, got the rheumatism. Very lame.

Dec 2     The same as above, sorting over some corn and doing chores. Quite lame and sore. Hardly can get around. Day is right nice.

Dec 3     We are at home. Day is dark and cloudy and snows most of the forenoon.

Dec 4     About the same as above. I am lame from the effects of rheumatism. Weather is right nice, freezes at night and thaws in daytime in the sun but freezes in shade.

Dec 5     About the same, still lame not able to do much. Joe Bertram finished shucking all of his corn. Lawrence has some out yet. Corn shredder is at Ray Marsh's today. Day nice.

Dec 6     I am going around not hardly able to walk, doing the chores. Day is some cloudy but warmer.

Dec 7     The same mostly as above, a little better today. Most of the folks are about to finish up there corn gathering. Some are done now.

Dec 8     About the same, not able to do much.

Dec 9     The old thing over, still have rheumatism. Weather is warmer.

Dec 10     We are at home and the day is warm and cloudy with a little rain. Rain tonight.

Dec 11     This is a rainy day, most of the day. Not much done.

Dec 12     This is another days rain and a lot more rain fell and tonight at 7 o'clock it is still raining.

Dec 13     Choreing, that is all that I am able to do at this time. This is the sale at Dessie Meeks. (NOTE: Dessie would not pay note owed to William) Right nice day but the ground is soaked full of water.

Dec 14     Another days rain, all day long. It rained slow down today, all day.

Dec 15     I went to Vernon to get some medicine for myself for the rheumatism. I am some better than I was.

Dec 16     I am doing the chores. It is a damp spell of weather. Cloudy chilly weather now.

Dec 17     I went to church. Day is cloudy and damp. Roads are muddy.

Dec 18     Only choreing, Lawrence is getting in his shock corn on the lower above Betsy Bottom. Nice day overhead but muddy.

Dec 19     The same, just the chores. I have the rheumatism yet and very lame and stiff. Shaw's sale today.

Dec 20     About the same. Day is right nice but the ground is soft.

Dec 21     I took twenty hogs to Lovett to Asbury Green at 555 per hundred.

Dec 22     I am dong the chores as usual, I am still lame yet. Weather is cloudy dark and quite damp.

Dec 23     I went to N. Vernon, got my check cashed for the hogs I sold to Asbury Green. Dark day and chilly.

Dec 24     We are at home all day. A little snow on this morning.

Dec 25     We are at home. Day is warm but damp.

Dec 26     About the same. It rains this afternoon. Ground is wet and muddy.

Dec 27     This is a stormy morning. Snows and blows and is freezing some.

Dec 28     This is the coldest morning for this month. It froze right hard last night, thawed a little where the sun shined on. Nice day.

Jan 1     I am around but very lame and stiff. I am only able to do the chores. This is a right nice day. Cool with the ground frozen.

Jan 2     About the same as above, this is a very nice day. Warmer, thaws. Bright day.

Jan 3     About the same continued. Weather is some cold.

Jan 4     This is the next coldest day this winter. Wind blows hard and very cold.

Jan 5     This is the 3rd and the coldest day yet this winter.

Jan 7     We are at home. Myron Gannon is out from Kokomo for a few days. They went up to Edy's today, him and Lawrence and Emmie's. This is the coldest morning this winter.

Jan 8     I am around, still have some rheumatism yet but better than I was. There is snow on the ground and there has been snow fell most of the day. Edy, Lawrence, Myron went over to Allen Hartwell's today. Snow 3 inches deep and more coming.

Jan 9     About the same, the weather is right cold enough to keep the snow on.

Jan 10     Still cold and snowy, nothing done but the chores.

Jan 11     Cold and stormy day. Snows most of the day, nothing done.

Jan 12     Big snow this morning. Snowed most of last night and drifted some, about 7 inches deep and pretty cold this morning. Jim Earl died last night. Big snow, cold and stormy.

Jan 13     This is the coldest morning this winter, it snowed and stormed all night. They found Jim Earl in the snow up at Collin's, this side of the brick schoolhouse, frozen to death.

Jan 14     Jim Earl was buried today at Vernon. The snow is 7 or 8 inches deep. Not so cold today as yesterday.

Jan 15     This is the coldest morning, 2 or 3 degrees colder than any other back. Snow on and deep.

Jan 16     Still a little colder this morning than on yesterday. All day cold but the sun shone bright and clear.

Jan 17     Some warmer, the snow got a little soft and thawed a little.

Jan 18     This morning it is much warmer. Rain some last night and most all day today. Snow has melted, most of it.

Jan 19     The ice went out of the creek last night. It gorged and the water is high. Snowed last night, cool day.

Jan 20     About the same but there is water and ice all over the Bottoms. It froze the water this morning before daylight about ½ inch thick. It gorged below and it is right cold this morning. Never seen the ice frozen all over before.

Jan 21     Church today but we did not go over, too much ice on the road from here to the bridge.

Jan 22     We butchered our 2 hogs for meat. Joe Bertram and Billy Boner helped. Day is nice, thaws some, thaws off the snow.

Jan 23     We cut up our hogs, fried out the lard, made the sausage, salted the meat. Joe and Pammy helped. Very nice day.

Jan 24     I went to N. Vernon, took a load of corn to get feed for the cows, got it and a barrel of coal oil.

Jan 25     I am at home choreing some. It is a very nice day, it thaws some but not very warm.

Jan 26     I, Billy Boner, Ed Stewart hauled out all the manure out of stables and most of outdoors. Thawed a little.

Jan 27     I went to N. Vernon then to Vernon to get medicine for the rheumatism. Day is nice. Day is right cool, thaws a little every day.

Jan 28     We are at home, all day.

Jan 29     I am hobbling around with the rheumatism, doing the chores as comes.

Jan 30     About the same as above, still lame. Colder today and the ground is frozen. Froze all day today.

Jan 31     About the same as above. This is the last day of January. Some cold and the ground is froze, thaws a little.

Feb 1     This has been a stormy day. Snowed a little all day, not very cold but don't thaw any and cloudy.

Feb 2     This forenoon is cloudy, this afternoon the sun shines by spells, some cold. This evening is cold.

Feb 3     Today is a stormy day, snowed all day and this evening high winds drift snow.

Feb 4     We are at home all day. This is a cold stormy day. Storms, blows.

Feb 5     This is another cold day but don't storm. Snow is about 4 inches deep on the ground.

Feb 6     Nothing done but the chores. I still have the rheumatism, only able to get around. This is the second cold spell. This morning it was 10 below zero. Don't thaw only in a few warm places where the sun shines warm.

Feb 7     There is nothing doing now days but the chores. I have got the rheumatism yet, not as bad as some time ago but quite lame.

Feb 8     About the same as above, the snow is still on yet. Cold enough to keep it on but warmer now. John Beeler(Butler, Beeter?) died on last Saturday

Feb 9     About the same as above, cold and the snow is till on yet and down to zero weather, right cold.

Feb 10 The snow is still on. Weather is cold enough to keep it on. John Wrape is very sick at this time.

Feb 13     This is the day of George Ochs sale. Cool day.

Feb 14     I am choreing around some. It is warmer now. Snow melts some for a few.

Feb 15     This was to be the sale of John Wrape but John is very sick and the sale was stopped.

Feb 16     I went to N. Vernon, took up a load of corn to get ground for the cows and horses. Day has been nice. John Wrape died last night.

Feb 17     John Wrape was buried today. Right nice day.

Feb 18     We are at home, there is church over at the church. I had the rheumatism, too lame.

Feb 19     I still have the rheumatism, don't do anything but the chores. Rain all forenoon. Frost is getting out and is very muddy.

Feb 20     Today is right nice but the roads are muddy.

Feb 21     This morning, the ground is covered with about 4 inches deep of wet snow and froze some. There was some rain on and froze this evening, the snow bears up. It was cold this afternoon and stormy.

Feb 22     Not doing anything but the chores. The snow is on and froze to bear up and did not melt any to amount to much.

Feb 23     About the same as above but the snow melted a good deal today. Sun shone out all day and was clear.

Feb 24     Thaws some. The snow melts some everyday.

Feb 25     We are at home. Day is right nice, thaws fast. Rain most all night and the creek is out big.

Feb 26     Nothing done, the snow has most all melted off from the rain last night and the creek is big all day.

Feb 27     I am not doing anything but the chores. I still have the rheumatism. Day is right nice but cool and the roads are muddy. Love bought the 2 red cows today.

Feb 29     I went to the sale at Earl's and bought a sow and 8 pigs, $27.00. Day is right cold.

Mar 1     I went up this morning and brought home the sow and pigs. Right cool, the road is froze hard.

Mar 2     I am at home all day, not doing anything but the chores. Cold don't thaw any today.

Mar 3     We are at home and it is a very stormy day. Snows and drifts the snow.

Mar 4     I am doing the chores, that is all. The snow is about 3 inches deep and it did not melt any today.

Mar 14     This is the day of John Wrape's sale. Dark cloudy day and some rain this evening. I did not go, was not able to go, very lame.

Mar 15     I am around and it is about all to do the little chores that I have to do. Cloudy dark day.

Mar 16     About the same, I am hardly able to go around. Did not go to church.

Mar 17     We are at home all day. Feel pretty bad.

Mar 18     About the same, I am very weak and lame yet, hardly able to go. Right nice day and warm, the mud dries.

Mar 19     A little rain fell last night and a big rain last night.

Mar 20     About the same, I am able to go round but that is about all. Colder.

Mar 21     I am able to do the chores and set around the house but have a poor appetite to eat for the last 2 or 3 weeks.

Mar 22     I am still able to get around and do the chores. It is colder today, froze some last night.

Mar 24     I went to N. Vernon, took the eggs to town and got some notions we needed. Ground is very wet, so much rain. This is Sunday - mistake - rain all last night and all day today till 2 o'clock when it began to snow and is cold.

Mar 25     About the same, the ground is white with snow but the most of it melted off today.

Mar 26     Warmer today. Snow all gone. Very muddy in places and the ground is very wet.

Mar 27     Nice weather now but the ground is wet.

Mar 29     More rain and the creek is up a good deal out in low ground.

Apr 5     I am around still able to do the chores. Weather is nice now. Joe Bertram took off my wheat to Vernon, got $1.00 a bushel. 94 bushels.

Apr 6     I went to N. Vernon, took up the eggs, bought some groceries. Very nice day and the roads are drying off nice.

Apr 7     We are at home all day and Lawrence Stewart and folks are here today.

Apr 8     I am at home this forenoon. This afternoon I went down to Dick Meek's to see about that money that Dessie got off me but I did not get it. This has been a nice day after the rain.

Apr 9     I am helping Lawrence Stewart to spray the apple trees this forenoon. Day nice.

Apr 10     I and Maw went to N. Vernon, took up the eggs and traded some. Day is very nice.

Apr 11     I trimmed some apple trees and chored around. Weather is very nice.

Apr 12     I went to the sale at Olinger's. Did not buy anything. Day is very nice and warm.

Apr 13     We are about choreing some, it rains some this morning. A nice rain falling.

Apr 14     We are at home all day. Day is right nice.

Apr 15     Choreing around at one or another thing. Sold a load of hay to Lora for 18 per ton.

Apr 16     I am measuring up 2 loads of corn for John Childs this morning. Edy is plowing the garden and hauling brush out of the orchard. Emmie helped plant the garden. Very nice day.

Apr 17     Rain last night and more today. Big rain today and the ground is very wet and cooler.

Apr 18     I am choreing some, not doing very much of anything. Day right nice but cool.

Apr 19     I am choreing some. Day has been nice. I loaded 3 loads of corn for Childs, Lora and Oliver Davis today.

Apr 22     I went to N. Vernon to get some fencing wire and lumber. Quite cool.

Apr 23     We put up the woven wire fence down along the road across from Burgmeyer. Nice day.

Apr 24     Joe Bertram commenced the sod field on the 11 Acre piece for corn on yesterday. It is all right. Day very nice and cool.

Apr 25     Joe hitched up the 3 year old to break in to work. He is at the plowing of the sod field. Day nice.

Apr 26     This morning it is raining and has kept on all day and last night it rained a good deal and the creek is high. The highest since the ice went out.

Apr 27     I am around doing a very little work. Not well at all. Gave to Emma Euler, $100. Gave to Edward Stewart, $100.

Apr 28     We are at home all day. It rains some by showers all day and the ground is very wet. No one can get to plow for a week.

Apr 29     I went to Vernon and paid the first half of my taxes, it was $100.33/half. It rained a good deal today.

Apr 30     I was choreing some. Jim Green was here after a load of corn and got a load of hay this afternoon. Day has been cloudy but no rain today.

May 1     We are putting up a fence out at the creek at the rocks to get water for the horses and stock. Day nice.

May 2     I am choreing some. Nice day.

May 4     I went to N. Vernon and brought home a new harness, got from Swarthout at $125.00. Day is right nice and warm.

May 5     We are at home all day, not well. I nor Maw are only able to get about. Day threatens rain but did not rain.

May 11     I went to N. Vernon, got my new harness for the new surrey. There was rain most of the forenoon and this evening there was quite a storm of wind and rain. Very wet time.

May 12     We are at home, sort of a rainy day.

May 13     I am choreing some. This is a very wet time, no one can plow, so wet. Rain most every day.

May 14     I hauled up the old fence boards along the road where I built the new wire fence this forenoon. This afternoon nothing, wore out. Right nice day but we had a small shower this afternoon.

May 15     Nothing done but a few chores.

May 16     Nothing done, rain all day. Ground is very wet, no one can plow nor plant. So wet no corn planted to amount to much. None broke. The same too wet.

May 17     Nothing done. It is so wet no one can plow or plant.

May 18     I went to N. Vernon, took corn to get ground for the chickens and some for the horses. Got it and brought it home.

May 19     We went to church. The day is right nice.

May 20     I plowed the potatoes in the garden and hoed in the garden the rest of the day. Very nice day and the people are out plowing for corn.

May 21     I am hoeing in the garden this forenoon. This afternoon not doing much. Down on the Long Bottom where Joe Bertram is plowing.

May 22     Joe Bertram planted the long part of the Long Bottom today. Has been a nice day.

May 23     I am choreing some. Joe is at the plowing of the Long Bottom. Weather is nice now.

May 24     About the same as above. Joe finished planting the Long Bottom, came up and planted 20 rows on sod field.

May 25     I am hoeing in the garden. Joe got the sod field planted this evening. Has been a nice week for work.

May 26     We are at home and the day is nice.

May 27     Joe came over and plowed and planted about 4 acres of the 24 piece to corn for the first in this field. Day nice.

May 28     Joe worked in this field till noon, it rained. This afternoon they plowed till most night when a big rain stopped them.

May 29     Joe did not come over today, too wet to plow or plant. More rain today again, still wetter.

May 30     Joe came over this morning and began to plow about 9 o'clock, a little wet in spots. Day nice.

May 31     Joe came over and plowed and planted some this afternoon on the 24 Acre piece. I went to Baker's with Queen mare. Day nice.

Jun 1     I am not doing much. I am lame and stiff from the rheumatism. Day is nice.

Jun 2     We are at home all day. Day is nice.

Jun 3     I went to N. Vernon to get some medicine for my rheumatism. Joe is most done plowing and planting corn. Will get done on tomorrow. Nice day.

Jun 4     Joe finished the corn planting at noon today. This afternoon I went down to George Baker's, took Queen mare down. Nice day.

Jun 5     I am puttering around, not doing much. I am so lame and stiff that I cannot hardly walk at all. Weather is very nice.

Jun 6     I am doing a little work. I am cutting down some dock and some sorrel on the field by the house where Edy had in corn last year. Cool weather but nice. Lawrence began on the Betsy Bottom today. Cool day.

Jun 7     I am puttering around some, not able to do very much. Weather is nice but a shower of rain is needed badly.

Jun 8     About the same as above. I plowed my potatoes in the garden. Ground is getting dry.

Jun 9     I and Maw went over to Joe Bertram's. Day is nice and dry.

Jun 10     Choreing some is about all.

Jun 11     Joe and his hand hauled out manure on corn below on top.

Jun 12     I rolled the Long Bottom corn over, ready to plow tomorrow. Very dry, need rain.

Jun 13     Joe came over this afternoon and plowed some. Ground is dry.

Jun 14     Joe did not come over today on account of the rain. It rained some this morning but not much but this afternoon it rained a good rain. I was cutting down the big horseweeds along the Long Bottom at the time of rain. Very nice rain.

Jun 15     I went to N. Vernon this forenoon. This afternoon went to church.

Jun 16     Went to church, then to Children's Night tonight. Right nice day.

Jun 17     I am choreing some, not able to do much. Edy began to plow the corn field by the house. Rainy weather for a few days. No one can plow corn, too wet. Taylor Sullivan died this morning.

Jun 18     I am not doing anything, it rains most all day slow and the ground is wet on the top.

Jun 19     I mowed down some weeds in the park and around this forenoon. This afternoon went to the funeral of Taylor Sullivan, he was buried in the graveyard at Emma Euler's.

Jun 20     I was cutting out some weeds out of the corn on the Long Bottom where Joe is plowing. He finished the first plowing on this piece then began on sod piece at 3 o'clock. Day very nice.

Jun 21     Rain last night, too wet to plow corn. More rain today, too wet to plow corn.

Jun 22     I am not doing very much. I finished the first trimming of the hedge and cut some weeds down. Cool and wet, too cool for corn to grow.

Jun 23     We are at home all day. Day is very nice.

Jun 24     I am choreing some, not able to do much. Joe is plowing his corn over first time.

Jun 25     About the same as above, I hoed out some weeds out of the sod corn. Weather is right nice.

Jun 26     I am not able to do anything today. I am very lame. Joe has got all over his corn the first time, this evening.

Jun 27     About the same as above, some rain today, not much.

Jun 28     I am repairing the roof on the tool house. Warm day. Bill Boner is putting on some shingles where it leaks.

Jun 29     I went to N. Vernon on business and to get notions that was needed. Nice day.

Jul 1     I am cutting out some weeds out of Joe Bertram's corn on sod field. Nice day. Corn is growing.

Jul 19     I am not doing much. I am very lame from walking too much a harrowing on yesterday. Day is nice.

Jul 20     I cut some weeds out of Joe Bertram's corn this forenoon. This afternoon went to N. Vernon. Joe finished plowing. Day is nice.

Jul 21     We went to church. Very nice rain fell.

Jul 22     I began to cut grass for hay today.

Jul 23     We raked up what was cut and shocked. Right nice day.

Jul 24     We hauled in hay today. Joe Bertram and his hand and Billy Boner put up 7 loads. Day is nice for hay. Jul 25     I am mowing some and Joe and Billy Boner is putting up hay.

Jul 26     We finished up the hay for this year. Nice weather, cool day.

Jul 27     I went to N. Vernon to get some notions. Day nice.

Jul 28     I and Maw went up to Edy's. Right nice day.

Aug 1     I went to N. Vernon to the Fair awhile. Right nice day.

Aug 2     I am not doing much. I went over to Emmie's, the machine is thrashing her wheat. Nice day.

Aug 5     We thrashed the wheat of Lawrence raised and Edy's too. 47 is the whole crop of wheat.

Sep 20     The Protracted Meeting closed tonight. Edy began to sow his wheat out opposite Burgmyer's. Plenty wet.

Sep 21     I went to N. Vernon for some notions, got home at noon. Edy got the long piece in wheat this evening up to the corn shocks.

Sep 22     Big rain this morning. Ground is very wet. We are at home. Dark cloudy day with a little rain now and then.

Oct 2     We went to the funeral of America Child's. She was buried today.

Oct 3     I and Maw went to N. Vernon this forenoon. Edy got done sowing his wheat here.

Oct 4     I am choreing around some. Joe Bertram is sowing the wheat on yesterday. Today is helping Garret to fill his silo. Very nice weather.

Oct 5     Joe got done all fo the wheat but about 2 acres. Very nice day.

Oct 6     We went over to Lawrence's, I and Maw. Very nice day.

Oct 7     I went over to Hayden to register and bought a sow and pigs off Dodd.

Oct 8     This morning we heard that the two McQuade(John & Charles) men were shot and killed last night by some unknown. (note: lived about 1 mile south) I went to the sale north of N. Vernon on the farm of Noyna's(?), the Ahora farm. I did not buy anything.

Oct 9     I went to Hayden to get the sow and pigs I bought on Monday.

Oct 10     We went to the funeral of John and Charles McQuade. They were buried. We went with Joe Bertram's. Very nice day.

Oct 11     I am doing a few chores. Weather is nice but need some rain.

Oct 12     I am puttering around not doing very much. Still dry and cool today.

Oct 13     We are at home all day. Weather is nice. Walter Woodward is dead, he died yesterday morning.

Oct 14     Walter Woodward was buried today at Vernon Cemetery. Very nice weather.

Oct 15     I shucked a few shocks of corn today. Weather is nice but is getting dry. Oct 16     I shucked out a little corn out of shock and chored around.

Oct 17     I hauled in the corn I shucked yesterday and fodder. The McQuade murderers were arrested today at N. Vernon.

Oct 18     I went to N. Vernon. Grace Euler went with me. This is a raining day, all day.

Oct 19     I went to church this afternoon. Day is nice.

Oct 20     We went to church then went to Emmie's. Day is nice.

Oct 21     I went to the sale at Dorsen's. Day is nice.

Oct 22     Not doing very much. Rain a part of the day.

Oct 23     Shucking corn out of shock. Boner is helping. First big frost last night.

Oct 24     Billy Boner is shucking corn out in the field where he raised it on shares for me. Big frost this morning.

Oct 25     I got all of the corn and fodder out of the field by the house where Boner raised the corn.

Oct 26     Every night frost for 4 nights. Very nice weather for over a week. Went to N. Vernon, got a load of coal.

Oct 28     I hauled in corn that Billy Boner shucked. Very nice weather now.

Oct 29     I went to Lovett with a load of 8 hogs to Morin at 725 per hundred. Market is down now.

Oct 30     I went to the sale at the McQuade place, where John and Charley was killed. Day is nice.

Oct 31     I and Billy Boner hauled in fodder till it rained. We quit. Allen Hartwell and Jane came. Rain today.

Nov 1     I went to Vernon and paid the last half of taxes on land, the amount is $111.08. I got home at noon. This afternoon hauled in corn. Day is cool.

Nov 2     I chored this forenoon, this afternoon hauled in 2 loads of corn out of shocks. Billy Boner shucked it out of shock. Nice day but cool.

Nov 3     We went to the funeral of John Sullivan, he was buried over in the little graveyard. Biggest frost this winter.

Nov 4     I and Billy Boner hauled gravel and put it in the stable for the horses. Day is right cold.

Nov 5     I went to Hayden to the election this afternoon. Day is right cool.

Nov 6     I and Billy Boner hauled in fodder this forenoon. Done nothing this afternoon. It is a dark day and rained a little by spells.

Nov 7     I am choreing around this forenoon. This afternoon hauled in the corn that Boner shucked.

Nov 8     I hauled in 2 loads of white corn out of shock that Boner shucked out. All done my shocks but 3 rows next to Henry Burgmyer.

Nov 9     I and Maw went to N. Vernon to market. Day nice.

Nov 10     We are at home most of the day, went down to Henry Burgmyer's a little while this evening. Nice day.

Nov 11     Boner shredded his corn. I chored a little. Very nice weather.

Nov 12     I hauled 2 loads of pumpkins, one load up to the barn, one load over to Joe Bertram. Joe finished gathering the corn on the Long Bottom. All the rest on stalk is yet to gather.

Nov 13     No corn gathered today on this place. Rain last night and some today.

Nov 14     Joe began the stalk corn below Henry's today. Got 4 loads.

Nov 15     The same as above, got 4 loads. I am fixing the shed for the colts.

Nov 16     I was choreing around this forenoon. This afternoon went to church. Day is nice.

Nov 17     I and Maw went to church. Day is nice.

Nov 18     I chored some around, not very much. William Whitcomb was buried today. Very nice weather for several days, good time to get in corn. Big frosts at night.

Nov 19     The folks are busy gathering corn. Nice weather for it. Joe is most done on old Sullivan Bottom.

Nov 20     I hauled in the last corn out of the shock. Weather is still nice. Joe got the corn out of the old Sullivan Bottom, all but a part of a load.

Nov 21     I and Boner hauled in the last of my fodder this morning. All done with the shock corn.

Nov 22     I am not doing much today, looking around. Joe Bertram is gathering corn on sod piece these two days. Very nice weather.

Nov 23     I went to N. Vernon to market and to buy notions. Right cool day but the ground is dry.

Nov 24     We are at home today. This is a stormy day. First snow fell and the wind blows cold all day.

Nov 25     Joe Bertram got done all his corn. Cool day. Snow all gone, only a very little fell.

Nov 26     I hauled in the last load of pumpkins. Day is right cold.

Nov 27     I am puttering around, not doing very much. Very nice weather for the last 2 or 3 weeks.

Dec 12     I am at home doing little or nothing. Day is right cold, wind blows cold.

Dec 13     I went to N. Vernon to get some notions that we needed. Not quite so cold today. The ground is dry and the roads are good.

Dec 14     I am choreing some this forenoon. This afternoon went to church. Day is very nice, a little cool.

Dec 15     I went to church. Day is nice.

Dec 16     I sowed some grass seed on the wheat field next to the house where Boner had corn and Edy has it in wheat. Nice day.

Dec 17     Not doing very much. Day is right nice.

Dec 18     I sowed some more timothy seed on the wheat across the road from Henry Burgmeyer's house. First snow fell this forenoon, 3 or 4 inches deep.

Dec 19     Not doing but the chores. It is right cool.

Dec 20     About the same as above, still right cool weather, some snow on the ground yet.

Dec 21     I went to the sale at Lizzy Croceleberg's. Right cool day.

Dec 22     We are at home all day. Day is nice.

Dec 23     I went to N. Vernon with a load of corn to get ground for the cow and the pigs, got it ground. Snowed as I came home. Right cold day.

Dec 24     Not doing much, only the chores. Weather is nice for the time of year.

Dec 25     We are at home today and the day is nice. A little snow on the ground in places.

Dec 26     Not doing very much. Weather is right cool, frost and freeze at night. Roads good.

Dec 27     I went to N. Vernon on business, got a payment from Fisher today and all the interest. This has been a cold day.

Dec 28     I went up to Lora Childs to appraise the property. We got it all done at 1 o'clock. Day is right nice.

Dec 29     We are at home. Day is right nice.

Dec 30     I am puttering around, not doing very much. Dick went over to Emmie's to help her to butcher her hogs. Right nice day.

Dec 31     The last day of this year. Joe butchered 2 hogs for our meat, will bring them over tomorrow. Very nice day.
