Jan 1     We are not doing much. Joe went over to his father's, all of them. Very pretty day.

Jan 2     Joe hauled a load of fodder from James' then some manure and chored some. Day is right nice.

Jan 3     I and Joe went to N. Vernon, took up 2 dozen chickens, got 71/2 pound, got 1150 of bran for pigs. Big rain last night and more this forenoon. Creek is high.

Jan 4     Nothing much done but the chores and the weather is right nice. It freezes some at night and thaws out through the day time.

Jan 5     About the same as yesterday, not much done but the chores.

Jan 6     The same, continued as above, not much done and the weather nice too, a little cool.

Jan 7     We are at home and Edy and Annie, Emmie and all of her folks are here. Dick too and P. Bertram and wife are here this evening.

Jan 8     Big snow fell last night. The first snow this fall or winter. We are not doing anything but the chores.

Jan 9     Snow still on and right cold, about cold enough to keep the snow on. Right good sleighing. Nothing doing. Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon.

Jan 10     We are only choreing. The snow is on the ground. It is thawing some where the sun is shining on.

Jan 11     The same today as above. Nothing done but the chores. Snow is falling this morning but it is warmer and it is not partly rain and thaws.

Jan 12     The same today as above. Snow melts off a little every day and is cloudy. Look like snow or rain.

Jan 13     The same today, nothing done but the chores. The snow is melting off slowly. It is cloudy and dark time. The old store house at Hayden burned up for Joseph this morning with the goods all burned.

Jan 14     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon to Joe Stewart's. Day is right nice, it thaws right fast. Snow is melting off.

Jan 15     We are not doing anything but the chores. Wind is high most of the day and it rained a big rain and the creek is up.

Jan 16     Joe and Dick went hunting all day. I am not doing anything but the chores. Day is right nice, wind blows some all day.

Jan 17     Joe went to N. Vernon to get some medicine for his mare. Doctor was out last night to see her. Nothing done but the chores. Maw started over to Lawrence's a few minutes ago to see William, he is very sick.

Jan 18     Nothing done but the chores. Joe went to N. Vernon to get some medicine for Johnny, he is some sick with cold. Day is nice.

Jan 19     Nothing doing but the chores. Joe went to N. Vernon to get medicine for Johnny this morning.

Jan 20     Nothing done today but the chores. Day is very nice and warm all day, no frost.

Jan 21     We are at home all day and the day is warm most like summer, now and then a sprinkle rain.

Jan 22     Not but very little done today. Joe fixed the stable some, took out a stall and made a box stall for Cate, mare to go in to have more room. The day is warm.

Jan 23     Joe and Dick went out to cut stove wood today for the first. Went to Beaty's woods. It turned cold last night and today is some cold and windy.

Jan 24     Joe and Dick are cutting wood this afternoon. This forenoon helped Emmie to butcher. Day is right nice.

Jan 25     Joe and I went to N. Vernon to mill and market. We took up 2 dozen chickens, got 10 cents a pound or 60 cents a piece. Day is cool.

Jan 26     Joe hauled out manure this morning. This afternoon cut wood, him and Dick. The day is nice.

Jan 27     I went to Vernon to see Batchelor on some business. Maw went along to N. Vernon and stayed at Joe's till I came back. Day is nice.

Jan 28     We are at home. Joe and Pammy went to P. Bertram's. Sam Young and folks are here. Weather is nice.

Jan 29     Joe and Dick are cutting wood today. I am choreing. Day is very nice.

Jan 30     Joe and Dick are sawing wood. I hauled 3 loads home. Day is nice.

Jan 31     The same till noon, they got done sawing, they hauled this afternoon. 3 loads.

Feb 1     Joe and Dick finished hauling up stove wood. I am choreing some. We brought up our cattle out of the stalk field for this year if it don't freeze no more to bear up.

Feb 2     Joe is hauling out manure on the wheat, it froze to bear up last night and right cool today.

Feb 3     The same today till noon then split some stove wood at the house. Right cold wind all day.

Feb 4     We are at home all day. Day is cool and cloudy and tonight it began to snow and snowed all night.

Feb 5     We hauled a load of hay up from Edy's out of old stacks and raked off the black hay ready to press. The press was to have been up this morning but it snowed a lot last night and is cold today and they did not come tonight. It is 1 to zero, quite cold.

Feb 6     We are not doing much. The snow is on and cold. The protracted meeting began tonight. Ice on creek bore up.

Feb 7     The same only Joe split some stove wood this forenoon. This afternoon went to N. Vernon, him and Hiram Spencer. Weather to zero this morning. Church tonight.

Feb 8     I and Maw went to church. Joe split wood at the house. Day is nice, it thaws some today.

Feb 9     Went to church today. Joe is splitting stove wood and finished it all. It is some warmer today. Snow is melting slow, nice winter weather.

Feb 10     I went over to Web Spencer's this morning. Sold the 1/3 to Web of the farm for $1800. I and Maw went to church. Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon this afternoon. Day very nice.

Feb 11     We went to church. Day is some warmer.

Feb 12     The hay press went to work at the old hay stacks on below Edy's on his land as it is now. Joe hauled three loads of bails to Edy's barn, one load home this evening. Warmer today, thaws fast. Snow is most gone.

Feb 13     Pressed the rest of the hay, got all done. I and Maw went to church. I sowed some clover seed this morning for the first time. Day is warm.

Feb 14     Nothing done but the chores. It turned cold this morning and freezing. Brother Nicholsen is here today, left at 3 o'clock, went over the creek, church tonight.

Feb 15     Went to church today and tonight. The weather is cool. Church broke tonight.

Feb 16     Joe hauled out manure and a load of hay for Edy of bails. I went to N. Vernon. Day is nice.

Feb 17     I sowed the last of the clover seed on the wheat. Maw and Dick went to N. Vernon. Cloudy day.

Feb 18     We are at home, all of us. It is a right nice day but muddy.

Feb 19     I and Joe hauled up a load of damaged hay from the stacks where we pressed the hay stacks, then a load of fodder off Edy. This afternoon choreing. Day is nice & warm.

Feb 20     Joe took up a calf to the butcher at Nob's butcher shop, got 5cents a pound. Day is some dark and cloudy.

Feb 21     Joe went to the funeral of Phillip Gagen this morning. Ray Marsh married today. Day is nice.

Feb 22     Joe is choreing some, fixing the grape arbor. I am trimming some apple trees today. Nice.

Feb 23     Joe is finishing the grape arbor and choreing some other things. Day nice.

Feb 24     We took out the wire from the stalk field where we had our cattle on the Betsy Bottom. Hung up the meat to smoke, got some hickory wood to smoke it. Got all the pigs for this spring.

Feb 25     We are at home, I and Maw. Hime Spencer is here. Joe and Pammy went to church at Four Corners.

Feb 26     We done but very little today although the day was right nice till 4 or 5 o'clock when it began to snow and it snowed about 2 inches.

Feb 27     Nothing done but the chores. There is 2 inches of snow on the ground but it melts some and makes it muddy.

Feb 28     We done but very little. Joe went to N. Vernon to try to sell his colt and got a place to work. It thawed some, snow off.

Mar 1     The same today, not much done. Joe went to look for a farm today. I finished trimming apple trees.

Mar 2     I went to N. Vernon, took up a load of corn to the mill, got 35 cents. Got brand and shorts. Day is cloudy and rainy.

Mar 3     I am only choreing some. Joe went to N. Vernon. Ground is wet and the creek is past fording.

Mar 4     We are at home all of us and Dick is here too. Day is cool and cloudy.

Mar 5     Joe and Dick hauled up a load of hay from the old stacks from Edy's and a load of fodder this forenoon. This afternoon cut down some apple trees in the orchard.

Mar 6     Joe and Dick are sawing up the old apple trees in stove wood. I split some this forenoon. This afternoon went over the creek and trimmed locust trees. Very nice day.

Mar 7     Not much done today. It rained some last night and it is misting some rain this morning. Dark cloudy day. I trimmed some locust this afternoon.

Mar 8     Not very much done today. It is sort of wet and muddy time. Joe put in some wood in the wood house this afternoon. Warm and muddy.

Mar 9     The same today, not much done but he chores. It is muddy and wet, rain last night. Cloudy today, most of the time.

Mar 10     Not much done today. Finished smoking the meat. Weather is cloudy.

Mar 11     We went to church. Day is cool and some stormy. Joe Stewart is here & folks.

Mar 12     Not much done only the chores. Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon this afternoon, took home Joe and Sadie. Day is cool.

Mar 13     Nothing done but the chores. It snowed last night and today it snowed some more or a light sprinkle of rain all day fell and is cool enough to freeze.

Mar 14     Nothing but the chores. Snow is still on yet and right cool. Snow is crusted from the freeze last night.

Mar 15     Not very much done, the snow is still on yet. Joe hauled out some manure out of stable this afternoon on the pasture field below.

Mar 16     The same, nothing but chores only. It is right cool and the snow on yet.

Mar 17     Joe and Dick went to N. Vernon, took up some wheat for flour and 2 dozen chickens. Day is right cool, snow is melting some.

Mar 18     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy went over to P. Bertram's and Dick went too. Right nice day overhead but cool.

Mar 19     It snowed last night and rains this morning and sleets all day and snows some.

Mar 20     The same, snow on yet and a part of the sleet yet. It thaws some every day. Grinding corn for the cattle. Bad weather.

Mar 21     Joe hauled some corn and grund some for feed. Day is nice overhead but muddy.

Mar 22     Joe hauled out manure out of stable. The day is right nice overhead but muddy.

Mar 23     Joe and I took up 30 hens to N. Vernon, got 10 cents a pound, 164, $16.40. The roads are bad. Day is chilly and dark.

Mar 24     Nothing much done. It is muddy and wet.

Mar 25     We are at home all day. Day is cool and muddy.

Mar 26     Nothing much done, it rains by showers all day and tonight.

Mar 27     Nothing done but the chores. Ground is wet and muddy and the creek is high.

Mar 28     Joe took up a load of hay, bailed hay, to N. Vernon to Collen's Feed Store, 9 per ton. Roads are bad. Ground is so wet at this time. Dark weather for over 3 weeks.

Mar 29     The same today, took up a load of hay to same. This afternoon rain all evening and the creek will be up. It is very cool.

Mar 30     We are not doing anything but the chores. Creek is up the highest it has been this year and it has been raining a little all day by spells.

Mar 31     The same today but the creek is running down fast. Ground is very wet. Dick is still here.

Apr 1     I and Maw are at home. John James' is here. Joe and Pammy went to church at N. Vernon then to P. Bertram's.

Apr 2     I and Maw went to N. Vernon then I went down to old Vernon and paid the taxes on farm. $224.70 all for this. Joe took up 2 loads of wheat to Ebert's mill. Day is right nice.

Apr 3     I hauled 2 loads of wheat to Ebert's mill. Joe hauled 2 loads of hay to Collen's Feed Store. Day is nice and warm.

Apr 4     I hauled one load of wheat. Joe hauled 2 loads. Roads are most of it right good.

Apr 5     Joe took up a load of hay. It rains some little most all day. I did not take any wheat up today, too wet.

Apr 6     I took the last load of wheat to Ebert's mill today and settled for it, 270 bushels at .77 cents per bu. Joe and Dick are grinding corn for feed.

Apr 7     Choreing some this forenoon. This afternoon Joe went to George Baker's took the crippled mare and Emmie's Topey mare. Day is right nice.

Apr 8     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy went to Four Corners to church. A little rainy a part of the day. Dick went up to El Sullivan's.

Apr 9     Joe took Dick Gibbs to N. Vernon to go to Chicago to go to work. Day is right nice.

Apr 10     Joe took up a load of bailed hay to Collen's this morning. This afternoon choreing some. Day is nice.

Apr 11     We repaired some rail fence on the line next to Boner's. Day is right nice.

Apr 12     We repaired some more rail fence around the field by the house this forenoon. This afternoon I went to N. Vernon, got some clover seed.

Apr 13     I sowed the Long Bottom to clover the second time. Joe and Pammy went to Vernon and he paid his tax. The day is nice and warm. Joe set out the apple trees this forenoon while I sowed the clover seed.

Apr 14     Joe took up 2 loads of bail hay to Collen's. There was a big rain last night and the roads are muddy. The day has been most fair, the creek is up.

Apr 15     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy went to church at Four Corners then to P. Bertram's. Day is right nice but cool.

Apr 16     Joe and I are hauling some rock on the line fence at the branch to fix a gap to hang a gate on next to Boner's woods. This afternoon finished and hauled the wood out of orchard. Day nice.

Apr 17     Joe hauled out some manure on the garden, allowed on the bottom corn and chored some. Day is nice.

Apr 18     Joe spread the manure on the garden this forenoon. This afternoon plowed the garden then shelled some corn on the new sheller. Day has been nice.

Apr 19     We ground corn for feed for the cattle. This afternoon we made some garden, then after ground some more corn for horses. Day is very nice.

Apr 20     Joe hauled out some manure on the orchard then planted some potatoes this evening. Day is very nice.

Apr 21     We finished planting the potatoes this forenoon. This afternoon Joe took up a load of bailed hay to N. Vernon. I and Maw went out to Tea Creek Church. Day is very nice.

Apr 22     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy went to P. Bertram's this afternoon. Day is nice but cool wind.

Apr 23     Joe rolled down the stubs on the wheat field below the road this forenoon. This afternoon cut stalks with the stalk cutter for the first this year. Day is nice and cool.

Apr 24     Joe is working on the road, grading up the road. This is a cool day.

Apr 25     Joe hauled out manure on the corn ground this forenoon. This afternoon cut stalks on Long Bottom. Day nice, I raked some.

Apr 26     Joe cut stalks all day, most of the day on Betsy Bottom. I raked until I broke the rake. Day nice.

Apr 27     Joe finished cutting stalks at noon. This afternoon took up a load of bailed hay to N. Vernon. Day nice.

Apr 28     Joe plowed the 2 patches at the house for corn and beans and harrowed them ready to plant. I raked the rest of the stalks and burned them. Day nice but warm.

Apr 29     We are at home all day. Sam Young and folks are here. Day is nice.

Apr 30     I and Maw went to N. Vernon this forenoon. Joe began to plow on the 15 Acre field a piece for alfalfa clover allow to sow 2 acres to try it. I got the seed today, 9 per bushel. Day is nice. The appraiser was here today.

May 1     Joe commenced to plow for corn for the first. I am not doing much. I turned the cattle out to pasture for the first. Day is nice.

May 2     Joe is hauling out manure this forenoon. This afternoon went down to George Baker's took down 3 mares. William Bertram is plowing. Day nice after the shower last night.

May 3     Joe got back this morning at 10 o'clock. This afternoon hauled out manure. Will is still plowing. Day nice, not very warm.

May 4     I, Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon this afternoon to mill. We are still plowing for corn all this week. Week has been a good week to work. Today nice again.

May 5     We ground corn and oats for feed for the horses awhile this morning. Then harrowed the ground to sow on alfalfa seed. This afternoon sowed on the seed and harrowed in. A little rain this afternoon.

May 6     We are at home and Lawrence and folks are here. Edy and folks, Emmy and folks. Day is nice.

May 7     I went down to George Baker's, took Nell mare. Joe is plowing on the Betsy Bottom, got his field most done. Cool day.

May 8     Joe finished up plowing the Betsy Bottom. Plowed some this afternoon on the Long Bottom. Weather cool.

May 9     Joe harrowed the Betsy Bottom ready to plant tomorrow. Cool, little rain tonight.

May 10     Rain some this morning. We did not plant corn. Joe went to plow on Long Bottom at 10 o'clock. After rain ti cleared off and is warmer. Pammy went to N. Vernon this afternoon.

May 11     Joe planted corn on the Betsy Bottom for the first this year. The county surveyor is here running over the lines between Henry Burgmeyer, Ell and I…got it done. Day nice.

May 12     Joe was plowing on the Long Bottom this forenoon. This afternoon took the last load of bailed hay to Collen's. I and Maw went to church. Nice day.

May 13     We all went to church, the Dedication of the new Baptist Church today. Day very nice.

May 14     Joe is plowing on the Long Bottom and finished now, ready for corn. It is getting dry, need rain. Weather is nice.

May 15     Joe planted the Long Bottom to corn. The day is nice but warm.

May 16     Joe began to plow on the 14 Acre piece on the old Sullivan Bottom for corn on this field for the first. Day is nice, some warm. Need rain.

May 17     Joe is plowing still for corn. Weather is warm and dry, need rain.

May 18     Still at the plowing and warm and dry. Anthony Hagg is buried today.

May 19     Plowing this forenoon. This afternoon planted on the old Sullivan Bottom. There was a nice rain last night and today nice.

May 20     We are at home, Maw and I. Joe and Pammy went to church at Four Corners and then to P. Bertram's. Day is nice.

May 21     Joe is plowing yet for corn. I went over to Charley Woodward's and got some seed corn to plant over the Betsy Bottom, it has not come up good.

May 22     We took off our hogs to Lovett for Mornen. He bought the hogs for 605 per hundred.

May 23     I went down to George Baker's took Cate and Joe's Daisy. Joe is plowing one more day will about finish up for this crop. Warm and dry, need rain.

May 24     Joe is plowing and got most done, will finish in a few hours tomorrow. Weather is warm and dry.

May 25     The same this morning and got he plowing done at 10 o'clock, then ground corn for feed for horses. This afternoon planted some. Weather warm and dry.

May 26     Finished planting corn today. The ground is very dry. Weather warm, need rain bad.

May 27     We are at home all day. It threatens rain but did not get only a few sprinkles.

May 28     Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon to the show. It rained a good rain last night. It was needed very bad. It is very cool since the rain.

May 29     Joe went to George Baker's took the cripple mare, left her. This afternoon plowed for Henry Burgmyer. Nice day.

May 30     Plowed for Henry till noon. This afternoon took up a load of hay to Spate of N. Vernon. Day nice.

May 31     Plowed some corn this morning awhile. It rained some, quit this afternoon. Ground corn for feed.

Jun 1     Plowed corn this forenoon. This afternoon went to N. Vernon, took up a load of corn. Joe corn.

Jun 2     Joe is plowing corn. We went over to 6 mile to the graveyard to fix up some fo the graves this afternoon. The day is nice, needs some rain.

Jun 3     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon to church, came home then went to George Baker's. Day nice.

Jun 4     Joe is rolling corn ground ready to plow corn this forenoon. This afternoon took up a load of hay to Joe Cone. Day is nice. This evening it rained a nice rain and now at 9 o'clock it is rainy more.

Jan 5     We trimmed the hedge this forenoon. This afternoon Joe helped to pick cherries. It rained another nice rain at noon.

Jun 6     Took up 2 loads of corn to N. Vernon, one load is Joe's corn, last load. He got a cultivator.

Jun 7     Joe is trying his new cultivator on the Betsy Bottom. I am putting on paris green on the potatoes.

Jun 8     Joe plowed corn on the same, and the new plow they took back. I plowed the garden.

Jun 9     Joe plowed corn this forenoon. This afternoon took up a load of corn to Ebert's mill. I went to church this afternoon.

Jun 10     We all of us, went to church at Zion and tonight is Children's Night.

Jun 11     Joe plowed corn on the Betsy Bottom field, second time. I picked cherries. Day is cool.

Jun 12     Joe began to plow corn on the old Sullivan Bottom. Ground is dry, needs rain at this time. I mowed own weeds along the creek and among the locust patch.

Jun 13     Plowing corn and rolling some. It rained a little.

Jun 14     Joe went to Baker's, took down Cate and Daisy. I am fixing some wire on the fence at the creek. Day is nice.

Jun 15     Joe plowed corn, rolled and harrowed some. I pained the porch roof this morning. At noon it rained a shower.

Jun 16     We went to N. Vernon this afternoon to mill. Took the last of the old wheat. Dry weather yet.

Jun 17     I and Maw went over to Lawrence Stewart's. Joe and Pammy went to church at Four Corners, then to P. Bertram's. Day nice.

Jun      We began to cut wheat. We cut the Long Bottom piece. Day nice.

Jun 19     Joe plowed corn till noon. Rain came on and we ground corn. This evening nice rain.

Jun 20     Joe plowed corn this forenoon. This afternoon cut wheat for Billy Boner. I hoed out weeds out of corn on Betsy Bottom. Day nice. Some cloudy.

Jun 21     Plowed corn and cut weeds. The day is nice.

Jun 22     Joe plowed corn this forenoon. This afternoon hauled in load of clover hay and then cut some wheat. Day is right nice.

Jun 23     We cut wheat till noon when the rain came on and we cut no more today, damp. Not much rain fell.

Jun 24     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy went over to P. Bertram's this afternoon. Day is right nice and warm.

Jun 25     We finished cutting wheat this morning for this year. Then went to work in corn. Dry weather, need rain.

Jun 26     At the corn, over it twice now. Need rain.

Jun 27     We took 3 head of cattle to N. Vernon to the butcher this afternoon. Joe cut the rest of the clover. Warm day.

Jun 28     Plowing corn this forenoon. This afternoon put up clover hay. Warm and dry weather.

Jun 29     Joe plowed corn all day on the Betsy Bottom. The last plowing. I and Boner put up and Reller helped too. Finished the clover all.

Jun 30     Joe is plowing corn and finished up the Betsy Bottom and the Long Bottom for this year. Warm and dry weather.

Jul 1     We are home and Jim Fixton and 2 sisters are here. Warm and dry.

Jul 2     Joe is helping Jim Marsh to thrash wheat. Weather warm and dry.

Jul 3     Helping Charley Woodward to thrash till noon. This afternoon it rained and stopped them.

Jul 4     Began at Woodward's this afternoon and finished his and went to Emmie's and thrashed 7 loads for her. Nice day.

Jul 5     Got done at Emmie's at between 10 and 11 o'clock. Then the machine went and thrashed out Emelie's wheat. Then went to Lawrence's and got his most all done. It it had not rained, would have finished.

July 6     I went over to help Lawrence finish thrashing wheat then came home and I hoed weeds out of the corn on old Sullivan Bottom. Joe sick all day. Good rain late this evening.

Jul 7     Walter Boner plowed corn this forenoon. This afternoon I plowed corn. Joe is sick yet, not able to work. Day is nice.

Jul 8     We are at home and Joe is sick but is better. Day is nice.

Jul 9     I and Will Bertram are hoeing out weeds out of the corn till noon. This afternoon he plowed corn. Day very nice.

Jul 10     I and Joe went to take 3 head of cattle to Lovett to Mornen. Will Bertram finished up plowing corn for this year.

Jul 11     We helped Anthony Gawen to thrash then Billy Boner then the machine came here and they thrashed our 100 bushels and it rained and we had to quit.

Jul 12     We finished thrashing our wheat, number of bushels, 350. Then they thrashed Henry Burgmyer's wheat this evening.

Jul 13     We helped Otto to thrash, then Edy, then William Bertram, then Shepard this day. It threatened rain all day but did not rain to stop thrashing but it rained tonight.

Jul 14     The machine went back over the creek this afternoon. The day has been cloudy. Joe took a load of wheat for Edy to N. Vernon.

Jul 15     I and Maw went to church. Day is very warm.

Jul 16     Nothing much done this forenoon. It rains most of the forenoon. It rained a good rain. We took 2 loads of corn to Ebert's mill this afternoon.

Jul 17     We took 3 loads of corn to N. Vernon. The day is some cloudy or we would have cut grass.

Jul 18     Joe cut the grass in the 15 Ace field and we put the hay up this afternoon. Nice weather for hay.

Jul 19     We cut the most of the meadow by the barn and got it up. Very nice weather for hay.

Jul 20     Joe finished cutting grass for this year and put up a part when the rain came and stopped and one more load out.

Jul 21     Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon took up a load of corn to Ebert's mill. Rain today by showers.

Jul 22     We are at home all day. It rains some and is clouidy most of the day.

Jul 23     Joe began to plow for wheat for the first in Long Bottom. I mowed down weeds in the locust patch. Cloudy and a shower of rain.

Jul 24     Joe plowed this forenoon. This afternoon put up the last load of hay that lay out since Friday. Day is nice today.

Jul 25     I took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to William Lett Stable this morning. This afternoon helped thrash at P. Bertram's. Joe helped all day.

Sep 24     I went up to Valentine Heilman's to try to buy a sow and pigs. I bought one white sow and ten pigs off him for $40. Joe is harrowing on the Long Bottom for wheat. He got it all harrowed, ready to sow tomorrow. Day very nice and cool.

Sep 25     Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon this forenoon. This afternoon finished sowing wheat on the Long Bottom, all done for this year. A little rain this evening fell.

Sep 26     I and Joe went to Frank Easter's sale. I bought a sow and pigs and 2 shoats, this is a sort of a rainy day.

Mar 5     I and Joe went to N. Vernon. Went to the corn men's cars to hear them talk on corn, then we loaded our barn roofing and went home. There was a big snow on this morning but it most melted off.

Mar 6     We ground corn this forenoon and bailed for the hogs this afternoon. Joe and Dick finished sawing stove wood.

Mar 7     Joe is choreing some, making a box to plant corn in to test the seed. Day is dark and cloudy.

Mar 8     I went over to see Jane Gannon. She is down with the rheumatism but is some better now. Joe trimmed apple trees. This is a chilly day and cloudy.

Mar 9     Joe went to the sale on the Golliger place. I went to church this afternoon. Weather is damp and chilly.

Mar 10     I went to church, the rest are at home. The creek is pretty deep to ford. Damp and chilly weather.

Mar 11     Joe was cleaning the hen house and white washing it this forenoon. This afternoon got some poles for the horses. Right nice day.

Mar 12     There has been rain all last night and today and the creek is big tonight and still rains some.

Mar 13     Nothing much done, it rained most all of last night and today. The creek is the highest it has been for 4 years and it rained a big rain tonight.

Mar 14     We are only choreing. It is muddy and wet to get around, the creek went down fast.

Mar 15     Joe went to N. Vernon to get bran and shorts and clover seed and got it.

Mar 16     Joe opened some ditches to let out the water out fo the road and field this forenoon. This afternoon ground corn for feed.

Mar 18     We began to roof our barn today with galven iron. Wagner is putting it on. Day is nice.

Mar 22     Joe is harrowing in the orchard to put orchard grass in and then plowed the garden. Very nice weather, now and warm.

Mar 23     Joe hauled out some manure on the Betsy Bottom field, then made the garden. Day is very nice and warm.

Mar 24     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy went to church at Four Corners, then to P. Bertram's. Nice day.

Mar 25     Joe hauled out some manure this forenoon. This afternoon commenced to plow a piece for oats on the Betsy Bottom field. Weather is very nice.

Mar 27     Plowed till noon. This afternoon sowed some. Joe Stewart and Sadie came up from Seymour today and went back tonight. Weather nice.

Mar 28     Joe is plowing and sowing oats. I am painting the old part of the house. Weather nice.

Mar 29     Joe is plowing and sowing the oats. Got them all done tonight. I done some more painting. It is cloudy and rained some, sprinkled rain.

Mar 30     Joe harrowed in the grass seed in the orchard then chored some till noon. Then him and Pammy went to town. I was painting at the house.

Mar 31     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy went to church at Four Corners then to P. Bertram's. Day is cool.

Apr 1     I went to N. Vernon then to old Vernon and was at the courthouse and paid my tax, all $224. Day is right cool.

Apr 2     Joe is plowing the potato patch this morning, then this afternoon plowed the piece to put in alfalfa seed on the Betsy Bottom field. I am painting. Ed Stewart's got on fire today.

Apr 3     Planted our potatoes this afternoon. Nice day.

Apr 4     We were choreing some. We got the last of our wire out of the old Sullivan Bottom and a part of the posts out. Cloudy day with a few sprinkles this morning.

Apr 5     Joe and Pammy went to Seymour to Joe Stewart's. I went to Vernon, Covert sent to penitentiary for 2 years. Cool weather now.

Apr 6     Joe is working on the road hauling gravel. Dick and I are grinding corn this forenoon. This afternoon baiting the hogs on grass.

Apr 7     We are at home all day. The weather is cool and there was a good rain this afternoon.

Apr 8     Joe finished splitting stove wood at the house. I am painting the house on the west side. It is very cool and the wind blows hard all day.

Apr 9     Nothing done but the chores. Joe went up to Wetzel's to buy a hog. Day is cold. Wind blows hard all day.

Apr 10     We put up the fence out at the water gap. Day is cold.

Apr 11     We are choreing some fixing some fence, fixing some holes in tile. Day is cool.

Apr 12     Joe went to N. Vernon to mill, took the last of the old wheat and sold it, 73 cents per bu. Day cold and snowed.

Apr 13     Not doing very much. Day is quite stormy and snows some. I went to church this afternoon.

Apr 14     We all went to church but Maw. She is not well enough. Weather is cold, froze quite hard last night.

Apr 15     Joe hauled out some manure on the Betsy Bottom this forenoon. This afternoon cut stalks on the Betsy Bottom. I painted on the house.

Apr 16     Joe hauled out more manure this forenoon. This afternoon began to plow for corn on Betsy Bottom. Dick went away this morning. Right nice day.

Apr 17     Joe is plowing for corn. I am painting at the house. The appraiser here today. Assessed in the partnership for the sum of $11.00.

Apr 18     Joe went up to Wetzel's to get a male hog off him and got it, price $32.00. This afternoon grinding corn for feed and broke the mill. Some rain this evening and quite cool.

Apr 19     Joe is plowing, has got most done the Betsy Bottom done. I am painting a part of the time. Weather is cool and dry, there has been but very little rain for a long time.

Apr 20     Joe finished the Betsy Bottom and harrowed it. I painted some and chored. The day is nice but cool.

Apr 21     We are at home, I and Maw. Joe and Pammy went to church at the Four Corners then to P. Bertram's. Day is very nice.

Apr 22     Joe shelled corn to feed the hogs this forenoon. This afternoon cut stalks on the Long Bottom. I was painting some on the house. Day nice.

Apr 23     Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon. There was rain fell most of the day and cool weather.

Apr 24     Joe and Nick Keller is cutting down the big sycamore tree at the creek. I am painting some on the house. Day is very nice.

Apr 25     Joe hauled out 2 loads of manure down at the lower ford by the creek where the water washed the bank off. This afternoon it rained more.

Apr 26     Joe went to George Baker's today, took the two young mares down there. Creek is up big till noon when it began to fall.

Apr 27     Joe went to Baker's this morning with the young gray filly. This afternoon hauled in some straw to bed the horses with. Nice day and warmer.

Sep 14     We went over to the church, there was one baptized, the Earl girl.

Sep 15     Church today and a wedding. Betsy Hess married. The day is nice.

Sep 16     Joe mowed the clover and the potato patch and the alfalfa patch down. Then got a load of corn by the bridge. Nice day.

Sep 17     Nothing much done today. Joe has gone to N. Vernon tonight, him and his father was called on the account of Albert.

Sep 18     I and Joe went to N. Vernon to get a load of lumber for the church belfry. This afternoon hauled in some hay off of the potato patch, then a load of corn.

Sep 19     Joe is hauling out manure with Jim Marsh's manure spreader. Warm.

Sep 20     Joe is hauling out manure on the ground where the oats was raised. He has Jim Marsh's manure spreader. It is nice weather.

Sep 24     Digging the potatoes and got in some corn out of Long Bottom to make a road to get gravel for bridge. Day is nice.

Sep 25     We are at the potatoes and got them most done, 2 more rows left yet. Day very nice.

Sep 26     We finished digging the potatoes this morning. Then we went to the Long Bottom, got a load of corn for the hogs. Then Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon.

Day nice. Sep 27     We went over to the church house to help to put up the bell. This afternoon Joe harrowed on the wheat ground. The ground is some dry, need rain. Pete Canfield cut 40 shocks of corn for the first today. Day nice.

Sep 28     Joe finished harrowing the wheat ground over the second time, then we gathered a load of corn for the hogs on Long Bottom. Cloudy day, all day.

Sep 29     We are at home and the day is very nice, need rain.

Sep 30     I and Joe went to N. Vernon, got some bran and some grass seed and took up the old coal stove to get mended. Day is very nice.

Oct 1     Joe began to sow the wheat today. Weather is dry.

Oct 2     Joe finished the 10 acre piece of wheat on the 15 Acre field this morning, then loaded our clover seed and took it over to Lawrence's to thrash. Got 2 bushels, 10 pounds of seed.

Oct 3     Joe finished sowing wheat at noon. This afternoon went down to get a load of corn on the lower end of the Long Bottom and it rained all the time we were loading and it was a big rain.

Oct 4     We sorted our potatoes out of the wagon that we dug last week and put them in the cellar for our own use and 15 bushels ready to take to N. Vernon. The creek is up today, out of low banks in corn in low ground.

Oct 5     I and Joe went to N. Vernon, took up 15 bush of potatoes, sold .80/bu. Day is nice.

Oct 20     I and Maw are at home. Joe and Pammy at Baker's. Nice day.

Oct 21     I and Maw went to N. Vernon this afternoon. Joe began to gather corn to put in crib. Some damp.

Oct 22     Joe gathered corn all day, one load for hogs, one for crib. Nice weather.

Oct 23     Joe hauled a load of cement for bridge. This is the third load of cement has been hauled. This afternoon went over to help his father to put on a roof on barn. Nice day.

Oct 24     Joe is helping on his father's barn today, got it about done. I sorted some corn in the crib. Corn is damp. Weather is dry and big frosts every night.

Oct 25     Joe gathered corn all day, one load of hogs out of Sullivan Bottom, one load out of Long Bottom to crib. Weather nice and dry.

Oct 26     Joe gathered on load of corn this morning, then it set in to rain and it rained the rest of the evening and tonight.

Oct 27     Joe and Pammy went to Indianapolis to see Minnie. I and Maw are at home. Dark day with a few sprinkles.

Oct 28     Joe is gathering corn to crib. Day nice.

Oct 29     Joe is at the corn. I went down to get some molasses off Adam Houseburger, got 6 gallons at .50/gal. Day is nice.

Oct 30     Joe is hauling in some fodder in this forenoon. This afternoon gathered one load for the hogs. Rain some this morning.

Oct 31     Joe is gathering corn on the Betsy Bottom. Got done the Long Bottom. Got all the rock on the bridge today.

Nov 1     Joe gathered one load of corn this forenoon. This afternoon went to N. Vernon, rain all afternoon. Got the stone work of the bridge done.

Nov 2     Nothing much done today. It is wet from the rain we had. The ground is very wet.

Nov 3     We are at home. Day is very nice.

Nov 4     We butchered a hog this morning. This afternoon Joe gathered a load of corn for the hogs. Right nice day.

Nov 5     Joe shucked corn out of shock. Day is nice.

Nov 6     Joe and Charley Baker is helping to shuck corn out of shock. Nice day, some cooler.

Nov 7     Gathering corn out of shock. Charley is helping. Day is right nice.

Nov 8     I went to N. Vernon, took up the red cow calf deformed(?) with caustic potash. Sold to Davis the butcher, at 5.5cents per lb, whole weight-210 lbs. Joe and Charley hauled in fodder this morning. Hauled in corn this afternoon. Day right nice.

Nov 9     Joe and Charley hauled in fodder this forenoon. This afternoon shucked. I and Maw went to church this afternoon. Right nice weather with plenty of frost at night.

Nov 10     We all went to church. Day is some cool.

Nov 11     Joe and Charley are gathering corn on the Betsy Bottom. Day is nice and cool. Big frosts every night.

Nov 12     I and Joe went to Joe Baker's sale. Day is chilly.

Nov 13     Joe is shucking corn out of shock. I and Maw went over to Jane Gannon's. Day is quite cool.

Nov 14     Joe is helping in corn or rather Frank Hess is helping him-Joe. Weather is nice. Big frost every night.

Nov 15     The same as above at corn. Got all off stalk off the Betsy Bottom, about 6 acres yet to gather, shocks and all.

Nov 16     I went to N. Vernon, took Maw up to go to Seymour to go home with Sadie. Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon to the priest's funeral.

Nov 17     I am at home alone. Joe and Pammy went to P. Bertram's, Maw to Seymour. Day nice.

Nov 18     Joe and Frank are at the shock corn. Day nice.

Nov 19     We took 35 hogs to Lovett this morning to Asbury Green. Got in one load of corn out of shock. Right nice day.

Nov 20     I and Joe went to N. Vernon to the Institute. Bad rainy day.

Nov 21     Joe is at the corn in shock all alone. Ground is wet.

Nov 22     Joe finished the shock corn today. I and Maw went to Vernon, right nice day.

Nov 23     Joe shucked corn on stalk.

Nov 24     Joe and Pammy went to George Baker's. Day nice. I and Maw are at home.

Nov 25     Joe gathered 2 loads of corn on the stalk, some of it is a little soft.

Nov 26     Joe gathered corn alone, too more loads. Day nice.

Nov 27     Same today, at corn. One more day to finish.

Nov 28     Joe finished shucking corn for this year. Frosty mornings, nice days.

Nov 29     Joe and Frank Fisher are hauling in fodder this forenoon. This afternoon helped Henry Burgmyer in corn.

Nov 30     Joe finished hauling in the fodder. It set in to snow and it snowed fast. This is the first snow this fall. Day dreary.

Dec 1     I and Maw went over to Lawrence Stewart's. The day is right cool with a little snow on.

Dec 2     I went up to old Vernon to the courthouse. Today is Commissioner's Court. Joe and Frank Fisher put up the wire fence on stalk field.

Cool day. Dec 3     Joe went to the sale at Nester's. I am at home. Day is chilly and cold.

Dec 4     We are not doing much. Joe went out to Hayden this afternoon, took over a young sow. Day is right cool.

Dec 5     Joe took off our young sow to Doc Green's farm today.

Dec 6     I went around the neighborhood to see how much I could get subscribed for preacher for the next year. Weather is nice.

Dec 7     I went to church. This is the last time for Jones to preach. The year is up today and tomorrow the next time on the new year.

Dec 8     I went to church, the last sermon of the year.

Dec 9     Rain last night and showers today and warm.

Dec 10     I went to N. Vernon today and let Marten Gawen have $284 for 90 days. Joe worked on bridge fill. Day is cool.

Dec 11     Joe is at the bridge at the fill. Day nice but cool.

Dec 12     Joe worked on fill with team all day. Weather is nice.

Dec 13     The same, on fill till 2 o'clock when it rained and they quit. Dec 14     Nothing done but the chores. It is wet and rains some. We went to the schoolhouse at No.5 to elect a supervisor and did elect, Nicholas Miller. The ground is wet and muddy.

Dec 15     We are at home all day. Day is dark. Ground is wet and muddy.

Dec 16     Nothing done but he chores. Joe went to George Baker's to help him to butcher a beef. Then to Sam Young's to butcher a beef. Cool ground. Wet, too wet to work on fill.

Dec 17     Joe helped Phillip's to butcher his hogs this morning. This afternoon worked on fill at bridge. The day is not very nice, it snowed some this afternoon.

Dec 18     Nothing done but the chores. Ground is wet and soft with some snow on. Cloudy and dark.

Dec 19     Joe hauled out some manure out of stable this forenoon. Not much done this afternoon. It froze last night to bear up most places.

Dec 20     Nothing done but the chores. Joe helped Edy to butcher a beef this afternoon. A little snow on and a very little more falling.

Dec 21     Nothing done but the chores. Joe and Pammy went to N. Vernon. A little snow on yet and a little froze and some chilly.

Dec 22     We are at home and Edy and folks are here. Emmie and folks are here. Rain this afternoon.

Dec 23     Nothing done but the chores. It rained most of last night and a little today and the creek is up big.

Dec 24     I and Maw went to N. Vernon. Day is right cool.

Dec 25     We are at home all day. Day is right nice. No snow on the ground.

Dec 26     We butchered our hogs. Day is nice and the ground is froze a little this morning.

Dec 27     We ground the sausage meat and salted the meat down. Wind is high so we are not at the rendering of the lard.

Dec 28     We rendered out the lard. Day is right nice, a little cool.

Dec 29     We are at home and Lawrence Stewart and folks are here. Weather is some warm and cloudy.

Dec 30     Joe and Pammy went to P. Bertram's to help butcher their hogs. Right nice day.

Dec 31     Joe worked on fill at bridge. Day is very nice. Note: back of book miscellaneous
