Jan 1     We are at home and Dick is still with us. Ground is still froze to bear up.

Jan 2     Edy and I hauled out manure on the stalk field. Joe and Dick went out to Lawrence's. Day is right cool.

Jan 3     Edy hauled stove wood home from the woods. Day is right nice. The ground is froze some.

Jan 4     Doing nothing. It rains most of the day and the creek is getting up.

Jan 5     Edy, Joe and Dick went to cut some wood for Phoebe Spalden(Spaulding). The day is cool, ground is a little frozen. I am choreing.

Jan 6     We are all of us, setting in the house. It snows and is stormy.

Jan 7     We are not doing anything but the chores. Mrs. Spencer died this evening.

Jan 8     We went over to church. Day is cool. Some snow on the ground.

Jan 9     We went to the funeral of Mrs. Spencer this forenoon. This afternoon we set in the house. It snows some.

Jan 10     We are not doing anything but the chores. Bradley is fixing the organ. Day is chilly.

Jan 11     I went to N. Vernon to mill. Boys went to help George Euler to butcher his hogs. Day is chilly.

Jan 12     We, all of us, went over to George's to help cut up his hogs. Day is mostly cloudy.

Jan 13     We are not doing much. It rains some by spells all day and this evening it set in to rain and it rained hard the most of the night.

Jan 14     The creek is up the highest it has been for most 2 years. It run across the 15 acre field quite strong. Boys and Dick went hunting. Ground is very wet.

Jan 15     We are at home most of the day. We went up to Sam Young's awhile. Liew is sick.

Jan 16     We cut some stove wood. Day is warm and nice.

Jan 17     We butchered our hogs and George, Dick, Emma are helping. The day is very pleasant.

Jan 18     We cut up our hogs and salted them, made sausage, tried out the lard. The day is some cool. Ground froze a little last night, thaws some today. Cloudy.

Jan 19     We hauled out some manure on the field by the barnyard. Ground is froze some but thaws some. Not very cold.

Jan 20     The same as above and got all out of the barnyard at noon. This afternoon hauled from stable. Day is nice.

Jan 21     We are choreing some, fixing wire fence where the water took out on the road below. Laying around the house some. Bradley is fixing the organ.

Jan 22     We are at home. Day is very nice.

Jan 23     We are only choreing. Weather is right nice.

Jan 24     We went to the funeral of Ward Spencer this morning. This afternoon we took off our hogs and the Canfield cow and calf to Lovett to Fitzgerald.

Jan 25     We hauled in some corn fodder off of the Long Bottom where the water had been over. Ground is some froze.

Jan 26     We are not doing much. We hauled in the last load of fodder for this year. It set in the snow.

Jan 27     We are not doing much. We hauled out a little manure. The ground is froze some, it bears up part of the time. Tis quite a cold spell with a snow on.

Jan 28     I went over to Pete Bertram's to buy some fence posts this morning. This afternoon went over to Harrison Spencer's to see the sick folks. The day is right cold and the roads froze to bear up.

Jan 29     We are at home. The day is right cool but right bright day. Sunshine.

Jan 30     We are not doing anything. It is quite cold and blustery, a very little snow on and cold.

Jan 31     The same as above, doing nothing and is quite cold.

Feb 1     Cold morning but a very pleasant day. The little bit of snow melted some but not very much. Nothing done, only the chores.

Feb 2     About the same only warmer today. Edy hauled home some stove wood from the woods. Joe took a load of hogs for George Euler to Lovett. Ground thaws right fast.

Feb 3     Edy and Joe hauled some fence posts from Pete Bertram's this forenoon. This afternoon Joe went over to George Euler's to take Mary home but George was sick and did not go.

Feb 4     We did not do much. Edy and I hauled out a little manure and chored some. Joe went to George's to do his chores, then to town and called the doctor for George. Day has been chilly.

Feb 5     I went to church this morning. Snow is about 3 inches deep. There was only 7 persons at church and there was 3 of them joined.

Feb 6     We are only choreing. It set in to snow and it snowed the most of the day. Weather is right cold. George is some better now. Joe is staying over there.

Feb 7     We are not at work, only the chores. It is snowy and snows more part of the day. It is right cold. George Euler still sick and Joe is staying there.

Feb 8     The same as above, not doing anything but the chores. George is not too well today. Dick and Edy went over to set up with him. This has been a cold day. The coldest this winter.

Feb 9     We are at home most of the day. Maw went over to George's this morning and stayed there tonight until he died at 2 o'clock this morning.

Feb 10     This morning at about 2 o'clock George Euler died. (NOTE: Emma's husband) Very cold morning, coldest his winter.

Feb 11     We are over staying with Emma as she is lonesome. Today is not so cold as on yesterday.

Feb 12     We went to the funeral of George Euler. The day is right cold and very good sleighing.

Feb 13     I went up to Thompson Childs' today and stayed awhile at his house. Edy went over to stay with Emma, to do work. Weather is cold, the coldest morning this winter.

Feb 14     Joe and Dick went out to Lawrence's on the sled. It is nice sleighing. The day is some warmer but does not thaw any to amount.

Feb 15     We are not doing anything but the chores. Joe and Dick came home from Lawrence's at noon. The snow is melting off right fast.

Feb 16     I and Joe went to N. Vernon to mill, went on the sled but it was very poor sleighing. The snow melted off fast today, it was quite warm.

Feb 17     We hauled home some wood from the woods this forenoon. This afternoon hauled some fence posts from Bertram's. The snow is most melted off. Roads are right good yet.

Feb 18     We are only choreing. Ground is getting very muddy. Weather is pleasant.

Feb 19     We are at home and Emma and the children and Mary Euler are here. Nice day but muddy.

Feb 20     We are only choreing. Weather is warm but muddy. Bad to get around.

Feb 21     We are only choreing. Day is sort of rainy and very muddy. Quite a rain this evening.

Feb 22     I went over the creek to Emma's, looked around the farm to see if it needed any grass seed on the wheat land or not. Joe and Edy are sawing wood for Emma today.

Feb 23     I went to N. Vernon this morning. It set in to snow and there was a big snow fell.

Feb 24     I went to N. Vernon to have a deed made from George Euler to Emma Euler to the farm, was made this day to her and the children and I also paid to Mary Euler, $1,700 for Emma.

Feb 25     We are not doing much. Weather is muddy and wet.

Feb 26     We are at home and the creek is high from the snow melting off and rain.

Feb 27     I am choreing. Joe is helping Emmy to saw stove wood. It is muddy now.

Feb 28     I am choreing same this forenoon. I went up to look at some pigs at Young's, four miles north of here and bought 11 head off him. Day is cloudy, windy.

Mar 1     I am only choreing some. Joe is helping cut stove wood. It is a cloudy day, some rain.

Mar 2     I and Joe went up to the sale of Joe B. Smith property. It was a large sale. Very wet time and very muddy roads. The creek is up high.

Mar 3     I am choreing around. It is very muddy time. Joe and Edy are sawing wood for Emma. Dark cloudy weather.

Mar 4     Only choreing. It rains most of the day and is dark and muddy time.

Mar 5     We are at home all of us and Dick is here too. It snowed some.

Mar 6     I am choreing some. Trimming some apple trees. This is a right cold day with a little snow on the ground. Dick Gibbs started to go away, went up to N. Vernon to Cincinnati.

Mar 7     I am only choreing and trimming some apple trees. Joe helped to haul in a stack of hay for Emma. Right cold today and ground froze.

Mar 8     The same as above. Joe helped Emma to saw. The day was more pleasant and thawed right smart.

Mar 9     The same as above, Joe is helping to saw.

Mar 10     I am over to Emmie's this forenoon trimming up her vines and some trees in the yard and Joe is there grinding feed on the mill.

Mar 11     I went to N. Vernon, took up Charley horse and sold him for $90. Edy took one for Emma and sold one. The day is very nice and warm.

Mar 12     We are at home. It is cooler today, cloudy and the wind is right high.

Mar 13     We, Joe and Edy, are sowing clover and timothy seed on the wheat on the Leyhigh land. Day is nice.

Mar 14     Joe and I are hauling in a stack of fodder and the rails around the hog lot to the orchard.

Mar 15     We went to the sale of Charley Gahn on Tea Creek. Bought a wheat drill for $40, 9 months time. Very chilly day.

Mar 16     Joe and I hauled out manure this forenoon. This afternoon Billy boner came to help saw some stove wood. Day is very nice and warm.

Mar 17     Joe and Bill are sawing wood. I sowed a little timothy this morning then took over Joe and Billy dinner to them and then helped to start Emmie's cattle on the way to Seymour. Day nice.

Mar 18     I and Maw went to N. Vernon to trade some. Big rain last night and the roads are muddy and creek is up. The day is cloudy.

Mar 19     We are at home and Emma, Maggie and the children are here. There is snow on the ground and quite cool.

Mar 20     I am trimming apple trees. Joe is splitting wood. It is right cool today but the snow melted off.

Mar 21     I trimmed apple trees. Joe is splitting stove wood. Dark day and rained some.

Mar 22     The same, at the trees and got all done for this time. Joe is at the wood. Day is cloudy and dark.

Mar 23     We are putting up some fence in the orchard and repair on the barnyard fence.

Mar 24     I sowed clover seed on the lower field by Burgmyer. It is a nice day. All done now.

Mar 25     I and Joe went to N. Vernon to mill with a load of corn to get ground for the cattle feed. The day is rite nice, a little rain fell this morning.

Mar 26     We are at home. This afternoon Mrs. Otis and Edy was here awhile. The day is cool and cloudy.

Mar 27     I took off my old hog to N. Vernon to Mat Mornen to ship to Cincinnati. Sold at .03/lb, 80 off, weight 580

. Mar 28     We commenced to haul off our wheat to N. Vernon to Ebert's mill. Get 66 cents /bushel for that. Weighs 66 lbs is all. The roads are bad, so much rain and snowed some today.

Mar 29     The same, hauled 2 loads of wheat. Weather cool.

Mar 30     The same as above, at the wheat hauled 2 loads. Then brought home 2 loads of tile off Lynch.

Mar 31     Still hauling wheat, 2 loads a day. Weather is cool. Roads are bad.

Apr 1     Still the same and got all done. The day is cold. I went to church this afternoon.

Apr 2     We went to church. The day is quite cold and cloudy.

Apr 3     We are grubbing out the hedge fence on the old Sullivan Bottom where the water buried. The day is quite cool. Joe Bertram, first day. (Note: Joe marries Bessie, 1902)

Apr 4     The same today as above and finished it. Joe and Joe Bertram and I hauled lumber home from Cammel's mill for fencing.

Apr 5     Straightening up fence along the road where the water took over, then went to digging tile ditch.

Apr 6     Laying the tile in the ditch below the road at the quicksand. The day is cool and cloudy and a little rain this evening.

Apr 7     We are only choreing. This is mostly a rainy day and quite cool.

Apr 8     I and Maw went to N. Vernon then I went down to old Vernon and paid the one half of tax. This is a chilly day and rain and snow fell this forenoon. The two Joes are choreing some.

Apr 9     We are at home. The day is very nice.

Apr 10     Joe Bertram and I burned up the brush on the orchard this forenoon. This afternoon put up plank fence east of the barn. The day is right nice.

Apr 11     We are at the plank fence and got it done. The day has been nice and warm.

Apr 12     The two Joes are hauling out manure on the field by the barn where we allow to put in corn. I am setting out fruit trees. The day is warm.

Apr 13     Went over to Emmie's this morning and ground a load of feed. The boys hauled manure this afternoon and Maw and I went to town. The day is warm and nice.

Apr 14     We plowed the garden and part of the potato patch and planted the garden to onions and the ground we had broke to potatoes. This is a nice day.

Apr 15     We are trying to finish up putting in tile and repair to tile. I went out to Gawn's(Gahn?) and got my wheat drill that I bought at the sale. Day pretty nice.

Apr 16     I and Maw went out to Lawrence's today. The day is quite cool.

Apr 17     We are repairing the tile in Emmy Euler's field where it settled down by the quick sand. This afternoon re-setting fence on the rail fence below the house. Day very nice.

Apr 18     We repaired some fence and chored around at several things. It rained a little today.

Apr 19     I went up to Childs' after some seed corn this morning, then went to town this afternoon. The boys finished the wood.

Apr 20     We began to break for corn in the sod field by the barn for the first this year. It is in very good order. The day is warm.

Apr 21     The same as above, at the plowing this forenoon. This afternoon broke and raked some stalks. Day is warm.

Apr 22     The same as above. Weather is very pleasant and warm.

Apr 23     We are at home. Sebe Ewing and Lissie, Emma are here. The day is very nice.

Apr 24     We are choreing. It rains most of the day and is very wet, too wet to plow for several days. We shelled some corn for feed.

Apr 25     We went down on the lower bottom on the pipe stem to roll up some wire there. The ground is very wet, cannot plow.

Apr 26     Hauled in a stack of hay to barn, then hauled out some manure this afternoon and began to plow with one team this afternoon. The day is warm, very very nice time for everything to grow.

Apr 27     The boys are plowing here by the barn and got done at noon, then commenced on the Betsy Bottom. Weather is nice and warm. Apr 28     Plowing the Betsy Bottom and got it done. The day is nice and warm.

Apr 29     Went over the creek at Jerrie's and broke the stalks and raked the most of them this forenoon. This afternoon I went to N. Vernon to get Daisy shod. We put out the cattle to pasture this day. Weather is warm.

Apr 30     We are at home. The day is very warm.

May 1     We finished plowing over the creek this morning at 9 o'clock, then began to plow on the Long Bottom. The day is warm.

May 2     The same, plowing. Weather is nice but warm.

May 3     We finished plowing at home at noon, then this afternoon went down and broke stalks on the Liew bottom. The day is nice and warm.

May 4     We broke some stalks until it rained some, then we began to plow for the first. Weather is cooler at this time.

May 5     Broke the last of the stalks on corn ground and got the most of them burned. Day is nice.

May 6     I and Maw went to N. Vernon, took up a load of corn to get feed for horses. Joe rolled some corn ground. It rained part of the day. Tixton's child buried today.

May 7     We are at home. It rains part of the forenoon. There is no church on account of rain.

May 8     We are choreing some and took up a load of hay to Vernon to Tumbleson, $8 per ton.

May 9     We hauled out some manure on the corn ground this forenoon. This afternoon began to plow again since the rain. Big rain on Sunday night. We have not planted any yet.

May 10     The boys are harrowing the sod by the barn today for corn. The day is cloudy and looks like rain but only sprinkled.

May 11     Plowed this afternoon but the ground is wet.

May 12     Rain today and a big one. The creek is getting up. Nothing done but chores.

May 13     We peeled some willows this forenoon. This afternoon cut some briars. The day is right nice and is drying off fast but the ground is wet yet, too wet to plow or plant.

May 14     We are at home. The day is right nice.

May 15     We commenced to plant corn this afternoon for the first this year over the creek at Jerrie's, planted.

May 16     The same, planted the Betsy Bottom and the Long Bottom today. Day is nice.

May 17     We planted the sod at the house today. Day is nice.

May 18     Went down on the Liew land to plow and harrow and planted about 6 acres on this piece today. Weather is right nice.

May 19     Plowing on same piece, about half done this piece. Weather is nice, cool.

May 20     The same, one more days plowing after today. Weather right nice but very cool.

May 21     I am at home. Maw and Joe went up to N. Vernon to see Kitty Fixton. A little rain today.

May 22     We finished up breaking for corn today. Weather is nice but cool.

May 23     We finished up planting today for this year, all but the garden by John James'. Weather is nice but cool.

May 24     We broke the garden this morning and planted it the rest of the forenoon. Broke stalks on the ten acre field below the road this afternoon. Helped Bertram to plow on corn ground on Tull Sullivan. The weather is nice but cool.

May 25     The same, helping Bertram to plow, got done there this evening.

May 26     We began to plow the stalk field for wheat and Bertram is helping. Back for what we done on corn ground.

May 27     Got the field all done this evening, all plowed and rolled down once over. Day is nice for work.

May 28     We are at home. The day is right nice and pleasant.

May 29     We took off 32 hogs to N. Vernon this morning, sold to Mornen. It rained a good rain while we were at town and tonight it rained a big rain.

May 30     We took 2 loads of wheat to N. Vernon mills, got .69/bu.

May 31     Took 4 loads of corn to N. Vernon, 3 loads to Bob Wrape, one to Litchfield. There was quite a rain just before noon today. Now the ground is quite wet.

Jun 1     We took one load of corn to Bob Wrape this forenoon and Joe took up the old Buckeye Binder to Tripps. Big rain and the ground is very wet. We have not plowed corn yet.

Jun 2     We mowed down some weeds around the corn field. It is too wet to plow corn. The ground is very wet now.

Jun 3     We replanted corn and some pumpkin seeds this forenoon. This afternoon plowed the first corn this year over the creek by Jerrie's. Ground is plenty wet now and warm today.

Jun 4     We went to church. Day is nice but warm.

Jun 5     Plowing corn on the Betsy Bottom and part of Long Bottom. The weather is very warm.

Jun 6     The same as above and got these pieces done. Came up and plowed the sod corn all over first time for these pieces. Weather is warm.

Jun 7     We sowed the millet. The day is very warm. Wind is high, looks like rain. A shower this evening.

Jun 8     Went down on the Liew Bottom to plow for the first time. Set up the new Champion Binder, ready for work.

Jun 9     Finished all of the corn once over this day. The day is right nice until this evening when it rained some and tonight it rained a big rain.

Jun 10     I and Maw went over to the 6 mile graveyard this morning. This afternoon went to N. Vernon with a load of corn to get ground for feed for horse. Day is fair but the ground is wet.

Jun 11     We are at home. The day is right nice.

Jun 12     Took off hogs to N. Vernon to Mornen, 16 head to ship. Plowed corn this afternoon, over the creek, second time.

Jun 13     Plowed corn till the rain came at about 9 o'clock. It rained and made the ground too wet, so we are only choreing. This is a wet time. Wheat is most ripe and clover is to cut and it is very wet.

Jun 14     We hoed some weeds out of the Betsy Bottom this forenoon. This afternoon plowed it over. More rain this evening.

Jun 15     We hoed some weeds out of the Long Bottom this morning till 10 o'clock, then went to plowing till noon. Then this afternoon commenced to cut wheat for the first time. The ground is wet.

Jun 16     Cut wheat all day below, got the upper piece done and moved down on the lower piece and cut some. Day is nice.

Jun 17     We finished up the wheat before night there and then came up and plowed corn the rest of the evening. The day is nice and is cool to work.

Jun 18     We are at home. The day is very nice.

Jun 19     We finished our ripe wheat, then cut some clover for the first. The Long Bottom wheat is not ripe yet, nor much account. Weather is nice.

Jun 20     We cut clover and put up some and plowed corn some this morning. The day is nice.

Jun 21     The same as above, at clover. Weather is very nice.

Jun 22     The same and got all the clover cut down and all the corn plowed over the second time. We allow to finish hauling in our clover tomorrow. Weather warm.

Jun 23     We finished up our clover hay. The day is nice and warm.

Jun 24     We were trying to finish up cutting wheat on the Long Bottom but it rained some. We did not finish.

Jun 25     We are at home. Day is right nice.

Jun 26     We finished up cutting wheat on the Long Bottom and this afternoon are plowing corn, the 3rd time on Betsy Bottom.

Jun 27     Plowing corn and cut some grass for hay.

Jun 28     The same and put up hay. The weather nice.

Jun 29     We helped Charley Woodward to thrash.

Jun 30     Helped Jim Marsh to thrash wheat. Weather nice.

Jul 1     Plowed corn this forenoon. This afternoon put up hay. It is a nice time for hay.

Jul 2     Church today and the last time for Martin to preach, his time is out today.

Jul 3     I went to N. Vernon and took up a load of corn to get ground for horses. Got back and finished up the hay hauling on the 10 acre piece below the house. Weather nice for hay but need rain.

Jul 4     We finished up our corn for this year, then went to hauling hay from up at John James' by the roadside, got it up.

Jul 5     We commenced our meadow on thicket piece. The weather is not very good for hay today, rain.

Jul 6     We put up hay. The day is right nice for hay.

Jul 7     We put up hay till noon, all we had cut down. This afternoon went over to help Emma Euler to thrash wheat but it set in to rain and they did not thrash much. A very nice rain fell.

Jul 8     We mowed down some weeds and briars this forenoon. This afternoon hoed some weeds out of corn. Nice rain fell last night.

Jul 9     We are at home. The day is very nice.

Jul 10     We all of us, helped Emma to thrash wheat and got it done. This is a very nice day.

Jul 11     Mowing below. I went to N. Vernon to take up the old wagon to get a new houn put in and I bought a new wagon and brought it home.

Jul 12     We are at the hay. Weather is nice for it.

Jul 13     The same as above, we are most done, 2 more days of good weather.

Jul 14     We are putting up hay and it is a good day for it.

Jul 15     We hoed weeds out of corn this forenoon. Then allowed to finish up the hay but it rained and stopped us. We went to hoeing weeds. Cloudy weather.

Jul 16     We are at home. The day is very nice.

Jul 17     We are hoeing out weeds out of corn till noon. This afternoon we finished up our hay for this year. Good crop.

Jul 18     We hoed weeds out of corn this forenoon. Got done below, hauled corn to town this afternoon.

Jul 19     We are hauling off corn to N. Vernon. Corn is worth .35/bu. The weather is nice.

Jul 20     We hauled 2 loads of corn to old Vernon this forenoon. This afternoon 1 load to N. Vernon to Phillips.

Jul 21     We helped Tull Sullivan to thrash this forenoon. This afternoon we thrashed our wheat. Number of bushels 374 ½ is the amount this year.

Jul 22     I hauled 2 loads of wheat to N. Vernon mill. The boys are helping Sam Young and Boner to thrash. Weather is some dry, need rain.

Jul 23     We are at home, the day is very nice but quite dry. Joe went away to Lovett tonight to work for the telegraph company tomorrow.

Jul 24     Joe Bertram is helping Otto Hess to thrash this forenoon. It rained some at noon and stopped them. The hay men came down to press my hay and I am helping them to press.

Jul 25     We took up 3 loads of bailed hay to N. Vernon this morning. It rained as we came home and it rained a good rain after dinner. It was needed very bad.

Jul 26     I and Joe Bertram took 2 loads of corn to N. Vernon mill to Ebert's at .35. This afternoon took one load of hay to Smith Wetzel. Joe went to help Otto thrash and Fisher.

Jul 27     We went to the Fair at N. Vernon. The day is nice but warm.

Jul 28     I hauled 2 loads of corn to N. Vernon mill. Joe Bertram is helping his father to thrash wheat.

Jul 29     We, Joe Bertram helped John James to thrash wheat this forenoon. Took up a load of corn to N. Vernon. Big rain this evening.

Jul 30     We went up to Centerville to church. Day is warm.

Jul 31     We began to plow for wheat on the Long Bottom for the first this year.

Aug 1     We repaired the clover field fence and put in the cattle and hogs in there to eat it down. Weather warm.

Aug 2     We plowed for what on Long Bottom and got it most done.

Aug 3     We finished the Long Bottom this morning, then took 2 loads of corn to town. Very warm.

Aug 4     I and Joe Bertram hauled 4 loads of corn to town. This evening we got a big rain and the wind blew quite hard.

Aug 5     F. & Jane Gannon are here. Picnic at Tea Creek. It rained some today.

Aug 6     We are at home today. The creek is past fording.

Aug 7     I and all of us went out to Lawrence's to help him thrash but the machine did not come so we came home and loaded a load of corn.

Aug 8     Took 2 loads of corn to Vernon, one to Goff, one to Mortrenel's(?). Day is cloudy.

Aug 9     I and Joe Bertram are plowing in millet until the rain came on, when we quit.

Aug 10     We are mowing down some weeds this morning. The ground is very wet. This afternoon took 2 loads of corn to the mill at Ebert's.

Aug 11     We trimmed some hedge this forenoon. This afternoon Joe plowed in the clover, it is plenty wet. The creek is high at noon today.

Aug 12     We are mowing down some weeds, the ground is very wet. Big rain last night and the weather is very warm.

Aug 13     We are at home. The day is right nice.

Aug 14     We are plowing for wheat in the 15 Acre piece of clover. The ground is plenty wet at this time.

Aug 15     Still plowing. The corn blew down on last Friday night. We had a big storm and the big corn is flat on the low ground.

Aug 16     The same as above. I am helping plow. Joe Bertram went home this morning, sick.

Aug 17     We are plowing in millet on the 10 Acre field by the road this afternoon. It is very warm.

Aug 18     I and Avery are plowing in the millet for wheat. Joe Bertram is at home sick. Weather is very warm.

Aug 19     I took up a load of corn to N. Vernon mill to get feed for the horses. The weather is very warm.

Aug 20     We are at home. The day is nice.

Aug 21     We finished plowing in the millet and cut the rest of it for hay. The weather is nice.

Aug 22     I and Joe Bertram took up a load of corn to old Vernon to get ground for feed for the horses. Weather is nice.

Aug 23     We hauled in our millet hay. It is dry and nice. Joe mowed down the weeds on the wheat stubble. The weather is warm and getting dry again.

Aug 24     We hauled out manure on the wheat ground. The day is warm.

Aug 25     Plowing on the millet piece and ogt it all done and Joe Bertram is cutting weeds in the orchard. The day is very warm.

Aug 26     We re this forenoon, opening the mouth of the tile in Indian Creek. This afternoon we about finished hauling out manure on the wheat ground. The day is hot.

Aug 27     We are at home. Day nice.

Aug 28     Boys are plowing, ground is getting dry and the weather warm.

Aug 29     The same and got most done. I and Maw went to N. Vernon to mill.

Aug 30     We finished all of our wheat ground plowing and once rolled this day.

Aug 31     Joe Bertram is cutting over the lower wheat stubble, the weeds down on the field next to Burgmyer. Very warm and I am a cutting briars below Tull's. Very warm.

Sep 1     The same as above and got the weeds cut and we cut briars. Very warm and needs rain very bad.

Sep 2     The boys are hauling in the stove wood from the woods to the wood house. I am corning it up. Weather is warm.

Sep 3     We went to church over at Zion, Brother Martin preached his last time. He is on his way to New York. Weather is very warm.

Sep 4     We hauled the rest of the stove wood for cook stove. Avery Hall quit work and went home. He is lame. Weather is warm.

Sep 5     I am choreing some this forenoon. This afternoon went to N. Vernon. Joe Bertram went to Seymour this forenoon. This afternoon he finished mowing down weeds on the wheat stubble.

The weather is very warm and needs rain very badly.

Sep 6     I and Maw started to go to Petoski, Michigan to see the country and the lake and go to Ludington, Michigan. (note: Charles Gibbs lived in Ludington) Sep 7     We landed at Petoski at 10 o'clock today. We stayed there today and tonight.

Sep 8     We took the boat for Ludington this morning and got there at 7 o'clock.

Sep 9     We are here at Ludington all day today. We allow to start home tomorrow.

Sep 10     We got on the boat to come home at 4 o'clock this morning, we came up to Petoski.

Sep 11     We left Petoski at 10 o'clock last night on the train and came to Indianapolis tonight.

Sep 13     We are at home and Joe is harrowing the wheat ground and rolling. The weather is cool at this time. Went to the Association freedom(?).

Sep 14     The same as above and have got the wheat ground all ready. We began to cut corn on Wednesday.

Sep 15     We are cutting corn today, Joe and I, by the house.

Sep 16     I am choreing same. Cutting stubs around the shocks and shucking some corn for the hogs this forenoon. This afternoon went to town. Joe Bertram went to Cominski to the Soldier's Reunion.

Sep 17     We re at home and Lawrence's folks are here and Emma. The day is nice but need rain.

Sep 18     We began to sow wheat for the first this year on the 10 acre piece below the road. It is quite dry now.

Sep 19     I went to N. Vernon after the bone dust and sowed the rye today.

Sep 20     We sowed the Long Bottom to wheat. Got it done. It is still dry yet, need rain.

Sep 21     We are harrowing and drilling the 15 Acre field to wheat. The weather is quite dry and cool. We got in 9 acres of this field today.

Sep 22     We finished sowing the 15 Acre field at noon today. This afternoon went to N. Vernon. Weather dry.

Sep 23     We took up a load of bailed hay to Smith Wetzel at N. Vernon. This afternoon we gathered a new load of corn for feed.

Sep 24     We are at home. The day is cool and cloudy. It threatens train all day. Rain tonight.

Sep 25     Joe Bertram and I cut a few shocks of corn this forenoon and sowed the rest of the rye in the corn piece. Got it all done. This afternoon we commenced to pick winter apples. The day is cool and cloudy.

Sep 26     We finished picking our winter apples at noon. This afternoon we made some cider for vinegar. Day is cool and cloudy.

Sep 27     We cut our potatoes. The day is right cool. Hugh and F. H. Gannon came here today from Howard county.

Sep 28     I took up a load of corn to N. Vernon to the livery stable then got on the train and went to Seymour to the Street Fair with Frank and Hugh.

Sep 29     We hauled one load of hay and 3 loads of corn to N. Vernon. Quite a cool day and the biggest frost tonight, this year.

Sep 30     We dug the sweet potatoes and gathered one load of corn. Then Joe Bertram went to Seymour to the Fair. Cool day.

Oct 1     We went out to Lawrence Stewart's...Maw and I, F. Gannon and Hugh Stewart. The day is nice.

Oct 2     We began to sow wheat on the corn ground. The ground is dry yet.

Oct 4     We hauled in hay and corn to town and finished sowing wheat for this year.

Oct 5     We all went to the Fair at Greensburg. The day has been right nice. Hugh Stewart and F. H. Gannon went up with us at Greensburg. They are on their way home. Dick Ewen (Ewing) was here last night.

Oct 6     We gathered one load of corn this forenoon. This afternoon we took up a load of corn and one load of hay to N. Vernon. Cool and very dry weather.

Oct 7     We are choreing some this forenoon. This afternoon took up a load of corn and some potatoes to N. Vernon. Still dry.

Oct 8     We went over to Emmie's, all of us. The day is drk and some drops of rain falling a part of the day, only enough to dampen the dust.

Oct 9     Joe Bertram commenced to gather corn to crib at the hog house. It is quite damp yet.

Oct 10     Joe is gathering corn. I am choreing some. Weather is still dry.

Oct 11     Joe hauled one load of wood from Emmie's, then we shucked out some shock corn by the barn. A little sprinkle of rain fell and made it damp.

Oct 12     Joe Bertram hauled rock on the road. I shucked some corn out of shock.

Oct 13     I and Maw went to N. Vernon to see the Dr. Green, then we went down to old Vernon and paid the last half of taxes. Joe Bertram is hauling gravel on road on land tax. Weather is still dry and warm.

Oct 14     Still at work on roads at the gravel. Weather is warm at this time and still dry yet.

Oct 15     I am at home, Maw is sick and I stayed at home. Sander's preached today and tonight. I went tonight. Still dry weather.

Oct 16     Joe Bertram and Frank Hess is hauling gravel on the road. I am choreing. It is still dry weather yet and warm.

Oct 17     This morning it is raining and rained a part of the forenoon. A very nice rain for the wheat. We put in some gravel in the stable this evening.

Oct 18     We finished hauling gravel at the stable at noon. This afternoon we shucked some corn out of shock and fixed a pen for the hogs at the water gap to feed.

Oct 19     The boys finished hauling gravel on the road. Rained a little today.

Oct 20     I went to N. Vernon to mill and took up a load of corn to Litchfield. The day is a little cool.

Nov 13     Joe and George Layman are gathering corn on lower piece. Weather is nice.

Nov 15     We were at work in shock today. It rained a little sprinkle and it was nice to shuck and it is warm.

Nov 16     We are at the shocks till noon when it got dry and then went on stalk below. The weather is very nice for shucking.

Nov 18     The same and finished below on stalk. We have a little below the house on stalk yet to gather and some over one hundred shocks yet to shuck. I and Maw went to N. Vernon this afternoon. Weather nice and the roads good.

Nov 20     we are at the shocks on the Bertram thicket. The day is right nice but threatens rain.

Nov 21     We went down on the same piece this morning and got 2 loads of fodder and a part of a load of corn and it set in to rain and we came home.

Nov 22     This is a rainy day and we are only choreing around. Can not shuck corn. We would have gotten done this week if it had been nice.

Nov 23     We put up the wire fence between the wheat and the stalk field on the old Sullivan Bottom to turn the cattle in. Then gathered one load of corn by the house. George Layman is helping. Cloudy weather and damp.

Nov 24     We went down below to gather corn out of shock on the Bertram piece. This has been a nice day.

Nov 25     The same and got most done, only 13 shocks left down there. The day is quite cool. Edy is helping and Jake Burgmyer.

Nov 30     We went to Tea Creek to church and baptism, then went to John Layman's and stayed there till 4 o'clock. Day is nice.

Dec 1     We hauled out manure on the potato patch. Joe Bertram and I and Joe plowed it this evening. The weather is nice.

Dec 2     Joe hauled in the balance of the stove wood, then plowed the garden this evening. Very nice weather.

Dec 3     We are at home and it is raining and a dark day.

Dec 4     Joe B. is hauling out the stable manure out in the stalk field by the house. Weather is nice.

Dec 5     The same as above at the manure. Day is right cold. Wind is cold and it freezes some all day.

Dec 6     I went to the sale at W. Randel and bought one steer for $30.50. The same at the manure hauling. Day is very nice.

Dec 8     I and Maw went to N. Vernon to mill, took corn and wheat, got bran and shorts for the corn. The day is very pleasant.

Dec 9     Joe Bertram and I hauled in the two last loads of fodder we had out, then this afternoon went to church and Joe hauled out manure. The day has been cloudy, looks like rain but did not rain any till tonight then it rained some.

Dec 10     We went over to church and tonight again.

Dec 11     We chored some. It is very wet. Big rain last night. Mon Swarthout and folks and Jim Tyler and wife stayed here tonight.

Dec 12     Choreing. It is wet on the ground and soft since the rain.

Dec 13     I and Joe repaired some fence around the barnyard, then fixed to take off our hogs tomorrow. Day is very chilly.

Dec 14     We took off our hogs to N. Vernon, sold to Mornen. It snowed most all day.

Dec 15     Joe Bertram went out hunting. Snow is 3 inches deep. Joe's time is up on yesterday, has worked 8 months. Day is cool and chilly.

Dec 16     I went out to Charley Rape's to settle for the drill I bought off Gon's (Gahn?) sale. The day is some cool but looks very pleasant. Snow on but is melting some.

Dec 17     We are at home and Edy and Emma and folks are here. It is some warmer and the snow is melting off fast.

Dec 19     We butchered our hogs. Quite a nice day.

Apr 23     We put in rings in our hogs noses this forenoon and then took out some grubs out. This afternoon began to plow for corn for the first this year. The ground is wet yet to plow.

Apr 24     Plowing for corn on Betsy Bottom. The day has been right nice but the ground is most too wet yet.

Apr 25     The same as above and finished this piece then finished the rest of the Long Bottom.

Apr 26     Went over the creek at Jerrie's this afternoon to plow. Day is nice.

Apr 27     Joe plowed alone over the creek. I and Clifford took up a load of corn to grind for feed.

Apr 28     The boys are hauling manure out on the field by the barn. I and Maw went to N. Vernon this afternoon. Weather nice.

Apr 29     We went to the funeral of Mrs. Brannon. Day is nice and warm.

Apr 30     Joe B. is hauling out manure. I went up to Henry's to take Nell, cripple mare. The day is very nice.

May 1     We are taking off the stalks of the lower 20 acre piece on the Liew land. The weather is nice and dry.

May 2     The boys finished the last of the stalks this morning, then went to hauling out manure again the rest of the day. Weather is cool.

May 3     We took off 10 hogs to Lovett and one cow sold to Mornen and Green, then hauled out manure the rest of the day out of stables. Very cool day.

May 4     We began to break the field by the barn today. this is a very cool day.

May 5     The same until noon then Joe Bertram and I went to Hayden to the convention and Clifford still plowed on. The weather is warmer now.

May 6     We are at home. The weather is some dry.

May 7     The boys are harrowing the corn ground to plant tomorrow on Long & Betsy Bottom.

May 8     We began to plant corn on the Long and Betsy Bottom. Ground is quite dry, rain tonight.

May 9     We broke up ground by the house till noon, then went and planted the Betsy Bottom and the piece over at Jerrie's. This is all planted tonight, this has been a nice rain.

May 10     We commenced to plant corn in the field by the barn this afternoon. The day is very nice.

May 11     We finished planting the field by the barn at noon. Then the boys went below on the lower 20 acre piece to break for the first on this piece. Weather nice.

May 12     The same as above at the plowing till noon. This afternoon went to the church, they baptized 18 today. Day is nice.

May 13     We went to church. Ocelley preached this morning. Weather nice.

May 14     I took up a load of corn to N. Vernon mill to change for feed, got it, came home at 1 o'clock. Joe plowed this forenoon, both Clifford this afternoon below. Weather nice but some dry.

May 15     The boys are plowing. There is about three more days yet till done the corn plowing. Day is very warm.

May 16     Still at the plowing. Weather is warm.

May 17     The same today and still warm. Got done at 4 o'clock. Rain this evening.

May 18     We began to plant the last field this morning. It is in nice order since the rain last night and is cooler today.

May 19     We broke some for millet on the weed piece by John James' where I sowed timothy. This is to sow millet on it, was too wet to finish planting corn. It rained more at noon. We went to N. Vernon this afternoon.

May 20     We went over to Peter Bertram's. Day is very nice.

May 21     We finished planting corn this evening, then began to plow for millet on the weeds by the roadside next to John James'. The weather is nice.

May 22     Breaking for millet, got the 6 acre piece done at noon. Then began on the thicket piece this afternoon. Weather is nice.

May 23     Still plowing for millet and got the 2 pieces plowed below on weeds and corn stubble piece. Some rain this evening.

May 24     I went to N. Vernon and took up a load of corn to sell, got .50. Joe and Clifford are not working today. Day is nice.

May 25     We sowed one piece of millet next to John James. The day is nice.

May 26     We sowed the rest of our millet below on the thicket piece and the garden lot at the house. Day is nice.

Jun 9     I went up to N. Vernon this morning. This afternoon went to church. Joe is plowing corn on the Long Bottom, the second time. Too wet anywhere else to plow. Day nice but ground wet.

Jun 10     Went to church and tonight at Children's night. Very nice day.

Jun 11     We and I myself plowed corn in the field by the house. It is plenty wet in spots to plow. Day is right nice.

Jul 9     We repaired straw stack this forenoon. This afternoon helped Tull to thrash wheat. Very nice day.

Jul 10     Began to mow our grass. I and Oscar took up a load of corn to Bob Wrape. Put up hay this afternoon. Day is nice.

Jul 12     The same and got done all the mowing and all in but 2 loads.

Jul 13     We finished all of our hay at noon today. This afternoon hoed out weeds out of the corn by the house. Weather fine, need rain.

Jul 21     We are only choreing, big rain on yesterday and the ground is wet and this week has been mostly cloudy and a good many showers of rain. Creek is up some.

Aug 12     Went to church today and this evening we had quite a rain and wind. It blew down corn and some fences and top of stalks.

Aug 13     We plowed this forenoon. This afternoon there was a big rain about 1 o'clock. We chored.

Aug 14     We took off 34 hogs to Lovett for Mornen to ship to the city, got 5 cents a pound. Nice time to move hogs this morning, it was foggy and damp.

Aug 15     We are only choreing. The ground is too wet to plow. We cut some weeds and briars. Another rain this afternoon.

Aug 16     We, Maw and I, went to N. Vernon to the Association. The ground is very wet and it rained more today. Joe and Pammie went to the picnic at Marian. No work done.

Aug 17     We, Joe Bertram, Oscar Boner, I myself cut briars and weeds down on the hill next to Canfield's this forenoon. This afternoon went to plowing again. Plenty wet at this time and the warmest day of this year.

Aug 18     Plowing below road on 15 Acre field. Very warm.

Aug 19     We are at home. The weather is very warm. Daisy, mare died last night.

Aug 20     I went to N. Vernon, took up Pamma(Bess) to go down to Seymour to Joe Stewart's. Got Queen shod, came home and harrowed on the 15 Acre piece. Still warm.

Aug 21     Joe Bertram is cutting millet on the lower piece. We hauled in 2 loads. Weather warm.

Aug 22     Put up 3 loads this forenoon, then it rained. We plowed this afternoon.

Aug 23     We finished cutting our millet below on thicket and we are putting it up. Not so warm.

Aug 24     We finished all of our wheat ground. Plowing all done but he millet where we allow to sow grass.

Aug 25     I went to N. Vernon to get feed ground for horses and got a new mowing machine off Coray. Paid $40. Rain this afternoon.

Oct 1     We gathered one load of new corn out of Betsy Bottom this morning, this afternoon digging potatoes. Weather is still dry yet.

Oct 2     We finished our potatoes. Day is warm and dry. I went to Vernon and paid the last half taxes. $92.00

Oct 3     We went to Seymour with Emma and Edy. Day is warm and dry. Frank is gathering corn.

Dec 15     I wnet to Vernon to get a load of coal. Got 21 bushels off I. Ranels. We began to burn coal on the 13th day of December. Day is right cold.

Dec 16     We are at home, I and Maw. Dick and Pamma went to Lawrence's yesterday.

Dec 18     I went to the sale at Will Halls. He sold out his property today. Weather is nice.

Dec 19     I sowed the grass seed on the 10 acre wheat field next to Burgmyer's. It freezes at night and thaws in daylight. Weather is very nice.

Dec 20     I went to N. Vernon and took up old Jersey cow to Mornen to ship to Cincinnati. Nice day.

Dec 21     I am not doing much although the weather is nice. Joe Stewart and Sadie came out from Seymour this morning.

Dec 23     We went to church over at Zion. Brother Marten came here and preached. The day is cool.
