Mark A. Hedges

5/24/1968 - 1/9/2017

On January 9, 2017, Mark A. Hedges, age 48, of Portland, completed his journey on Earth.  He is now with his heavenly Father celebrating the life he was given.  He was a 1986 graduate of Jay County High School and then earned his degree from Ball State University in Manufacturing Technology.  He was employed at Accelerated Curing in Portland.  He was currently in his second term as a Portland City Councilman after being first elected in 2011.  He was a member of the New Beginnings Holiness Church, west of Portland.  He was a member of the Jay County Historical Society, Jay County Landlord Association, and the American Society for Quality.  He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid collector of Jay County memorabilia.

Mark A. Hedges was born May 24, 1968 in Portland, the son of Jim and Carol (Elliott) Hedges  He was married July 20, 1991 to Judy Roberts.

His beloved wife- Judy Hedges, Portland, Indiana

 1 Son- Candler Hedges, Portland, Indiana

1 Daughter- Lilly Hedges, Portland, Indiana

2 Brothers- Brian Hedges (wife-Lori), Greenwood, Indiana

 Steven Hedges (wife-Lisa), Indianapolis, Indiana

1 Sister- Karin Somers (husband-Ron), Portland, Indiana

 Parents- Jim and Carol Hedges, Portland, Indiana

 In Laws- Don and Kathy Roberts, Portland, Indiana

Brother in law- Jeff Roberts (wife-Tammy), Brownsburg, Indiana

Sister in law- Jennifer Thomas (husband-Sam), Mooresville, Indiana

 Several nephews and nieces, and his dog, Sam.

Visitation will be held from 2-8pm on Thursday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.

Funeral services will be held at 10am Friday in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland.  Pastor Randy Smith and Pastor Greg Rittenhouse will officiate the services and burial will follow in the West Grove Cemetery, east of Balbec, Indiana.; Memorials may be directed to the Jay County Historical Society or New Beginnings Holiness Church.
