Grace J. Anderson, 62, a former resident of 144 E. Adams Street, Portland, and a resident of Portland Community Care Center West for the past 10 years, died Monday at Chalet Village Nursing Home, Berne, where she had recently moved.
Mrs. Anderson had worked as a nurse’s aide in several area nursing homes prior to her illness.She was affiliated with the Tabernacle of Jesus Christ, Portland.
Born April 24, 1932 in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of Exhard and Celie (Garringer) Ervin. She was married May 25, 1953 to William E. Anderson, who survives.
Surviving besides the husband who also lives in Chalet Village, are four sons, Robert E. Anderson, Muncie; William E. Anderson, Daleville; David A. Anderson, Fort Knox, Kentucky; and John L. Anderson, Gaston; four daughters, Mrs. Francis (Margaret Joan) Cavanaugh, Wanda S. Southworth, Mrs. Ted (Alice Faye) Huey, and Mrs. Charles (Norma) Fields, all of Bryant; one brother, Eugene Ervin, Winchester; one sister, Elberta Jones, Redkey; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 am Thursday in the Tabernacle of Jesus Christ, Portland, with the Rev. Richard Turner officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Point Cemetery, south of Portland.
Friends may call at the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer
Funeral Home from 2 to 8 pm Wednesday and at the church one hour prior to
services Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle of Jesus Christ.
