SHADLEY, Homer

Homer Shadley, 66, a farmer, who had resided in the vicinity of Hillsboro for the past 13 years, was found dead about 10 o'clock Friday morning in  a chicken house near his home, in the Campbell Chapel neighborhood west of Hillsboro. A shotgun was found near his body.  Mr. Shadley had been grief-stricken since the death of his wife about a year ago.

His daughter, Mrs. Bernadine Winfield had made her home with  her father since the death of her mother. She stated that her father left the house about 7:20 that mooring and when he did not return she became uneasy and called her brother, Kenneth Shadley, a Hillsboro business man.  Accompanied by a friend, Louis Brazel, a farmer of near HIllsboro, they made a search of the premises but did not find the body until 10 o'clock.

Homer Shadley, son of James and Mary Shadley was born at Greenup, Ill on July 7, 1883.  He was married to Miss Jennie Kees at Champaign, Ill and most of their married life was spent in Illinois.  He was a member of
Campbell''s Chapel Church. His wife preceded him in death.  Survivors are the son Kenneth, Hillsboro; three daughters, Miss Ann Shaldey, Indianapolis; Mrs. Mar Tighe of Homer, Ill and Mrs. Bernardine Winfield at home. He also leaves a brother William Shadley of Greenup, Ill and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Reese of Matoon, Ill and four grandchildren.

The body was removed to the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro where the funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday Aug 27.  The Rev. James Wire, pastor of the Hillsboro Methodist Church was in charge.  Pall
bearers were Freeman Cronk; David and Donald Zeigler; Louis Brazel; Paul Miller and Arch Foxwrthy. Flower beaarers were: Nellie Myers; Elda Mellott; Gertrude Epperson; Wreatha Linn; George and Leota Crumley;
Golda Cronk; Della Mae Nine; Mildred INgalsbe; Grace Nine; Myrtle Miller and Julia Kay. Burial was sin Wood lawn Cemetery at Indianaola, Ill.
