Mary Margaret Butts was born October 9, 1884 near Veedersburg, Ind and died Sept 14, 1909, at the place of her birth. In the year 1898 she joined the UB Church, taking Christ as her Savior and guide. She had a lovable disposition and lived a consistent Christian life. Her illness continued through many months, her suffering was often severe and intense but she bore it all with christian patience and fortitude. Father and mother with loving sisters and devoted brothers, with a multitude of king friends tried in vain to coax the pure spirit to stay in its home of clay. It longed for wider range and more expansive vision and joined the ransomed host in the unseen and eternal. She leaves to mourn her loss a fond father, a loving mother, five brothers and four sisters. A short service was held at the home conducted by Rev. John Boord, her first school teacher, after which the remains were taken to the UB Church where Rev. OP Cooper delivered the funeral discourse from Rev. 7:13 17 after which the remains were taken to Rockfield Cemetery.
