Funeral services for John Franklin Burroughs, age 70, of Newport, brother of Mrs. Maude Martin, Covington Rt. 1, who died Saturday, April 28 (1962), at the Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis, were held Tuesday, May 1, at the Newport Friends Church. The Rev. Clarence Ozier officiated. Burial was in the Newport Cemetery with the Watson Funeral Home of Cayuga in charge. Mr. Burroughs had been ill a few days. He was born March 28, 1892, in Newport a son of Frank and Philena Brown Burroughs. Mr. Burroughs was a retired farmer. He was married to Bell Nevins, who preceded him in death. He was later married to Myrtle Workman, who also preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Henry of Newport; a sister, Mrs. Maude Martin of Covington; two brothers, George of Newport and Charles of Georgetown; eight step children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. --typed by Walt W
