GEORGE WESLEY BURK, son of Christopher and Margaret Burk, was born Feb. 3, 1864 near Greensburg, Ind., and departed this life Sept. 24, 1915, at his home about eight miles southwest of Veedersburg, Ind. Aged 51 years, 7 months and 21 days. He with his parents, moved to the vicinity of Veedersburg, Ind., in 1873, where he remained through life. On Feb. 15, 1891, he was united in marriage to Mary Hinshaw. To this union were born three daughters: Margaret, Clara, and Gladys, all of whom were at his bedside when he passed away.
During a series of meetings held at Centennial by Rev. Rosenbarger, he joined the U. B. church at that place, and retained said membership until death. He was also a charter member of Yeddo Camp No. 9987, M.W.A. He had a kind and generous disposition. His chief care was that of his family. His last illness, though somewhat protracted, was borne with courage and fortitude, no one thinking the end so near because of his uncomplaining and cheerful disposition. Beside
a mother, five sisters, a brother, wife and three daughters, he leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. We feel that in him the following lines have been fulfilled to a letter: So live that when the summons come to join that innumerable caravan which moved to that mysterious realm, where each shall take his chamber in the silent halls of death, thou go not like a quarry slave at night scourged to his dungeon, but sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams. Funeral services were held at Centennial church at 2 o’clock Sunday by Rev. Robbins after which interment was made in the nearby cemetery.- thanks to S&E
