BURGESS, Josiah - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Sheldon, Ill Nov 9 – Josiah Burgess, 95, one of the oldest residents of Iroquois County died last evening at the home of his sister, Mrs. LB Mitchell where he had lived for many years.  Born in Fountain County, Indiana Feb 11, 1840. He was a son of Archibald and Elizabeth (Clawson) Burgess.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Maude Humbert, a son, Seymore Burgess of Sheridan, Ill; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Anderson of Iroquois, Ill; Mrs. Rebecca Dean of Aurora and Mrs. Mitchell; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon from Prairie Dell Church, Rev. Worley of Donovan, Ill officiating; interment in the church cemetery. – kbz
