Eliza A. Buford was born in Fountain County, Indiana in the
year 1857 and died at her home in Ironton, Mo after a long and painful illness
of consumption December 1st, 1891. Mrs. Buford came to Arcadia Valley
when quite a young woman and was married to Simeon E. Buford of this place in
the year 1866 at Pilot Knob, Mo. She was a member of the Belleview Baptist
Church for more than 15 years and was a kind neighbor, a loving wife and mother
and her presence will be greatly missed in the community in which she lived.
Although a great sufferer for many years, she had hoped to live for the sake of
her children, but was perfectly reconciled to die if it was Lord’s will. Her
last words to her pastor were, “God be with you til we meet again.” She leaves
a husband and three children to mourn her loss. Her funeral was preached from
the family residence by her pastor, Rev. FM Shoush before a large concourse of
friends. Rest in peace! Thy sufferings are over, and may God in his infinite
wisdom watch over and care for the motherless little ones … a friend. - kbz
