Ambia, Nov 28 – Despondent over poor health, Brownlow B.
Bruce 71, a laborer, hung himself this morning, his body being found suspended
from a rope on a small walnut tree in the backyard of his home here by Charles
Fawbush and Donald Snyder, neighbors, at 7:30 o’clock. He arose about 4 o’clock, leaving his wife,
who was not feeling well in bed. After starting a fire in the kitchen range, he
obtained a rope and a small box, fastening a noose about his neck and attaching
the other end to a limb of the tree.
Then he stepped off of the box and was strangled. The widow survives
with four children: George, Ernest and Arthur Bruce of Ambia; and Mrs. Charles
Wells, Brookston.
Note: He lived in Fountain County for awhile, having at least two of the above children there.
