Gerald "Brownie" Brown, 68, 505 E. Fifth, Tilton, Ill., died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at his residence. He had been in ill health for several months. He was born June 11, 1918, in Georgetown, the son of Gilbert and Lydia Doss Brown. He was a member of Teamsters Local 26. He was mechanic for Hires Trucking. Surviving are four sons, Robert E. Brown, Sidell, Ill.; John H. Brown, Danville, Ill.; Edward F. Brown, Westville, and David A. Brown, Georgetown; four daughters, Mary Wheeler, Danville; Virginia Holt, Covington; Charlotte Wheeler, Metcalf, and Debra Brown, Tilton; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Kenneth Brown, Georgetown; two sisters, Kathleen Strader, Westville and Louise Bladwin, Danville; a cousin, Alice Suffern, Tilton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte, in 1968, a brother and three sisters. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with the Rev. Leon Korb officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Indianola.
