BROWN, Franklin

Franklin Brown, aged 69, died very suddenly early Saturday evening at his home southwest of Tangier. The deceased had been at work all day and had come in for supper. Supper not being quite ready he said he would lie down awhile. The occupants of the house paid little attention until supper was ready when a little granddaughter of Mr. Brown’s was sent into the room to wake her grandpa and tell him supper was ready. The little girl returned and said she could not wake him. The little grandson then went to his grandpa’s side, but returned with the same answer as did the little girl. The decedent’s son then went to his father’s bedside and found him dead. He gave the alarm and a coroner was sent for. The coroner rendered a verdict of heart failure. The deceased passed away very quietly. It seems that he had sat down on the edge of the bed, put one foot on a chair, folded his arms across his breast and fell back on the bed. He leaves a son and five grandchildren besides a number of friends to mourn his loss. He was a man highly esteemed and widely known. Funeral services were held Sunday and the remains were laid to rest in the Harvey cemetery near that place.
Fairview News -- The death of Franklin Brown occurred very suddenly Friday evening May 24th. He had been in his usual health until a few minutes before his death when he complained of not feeling well and believed he would lie down and when they went to awake him he was dead. He was a consistent member of the U. B. church, a well respected neighbor and friends. He was a kind father to his children and to his little grandchildren who were bereaved of both their parents. Because of the downpour of rain until such a late hour Sunday it was impossible to take the remains to the church for a funeral so a short service was held at the cemetery by Rev. Levi Woody until some future time. After the service the remains were placed by the side of their life companion who had preceded him scarcely one year. – thanks so much to “S” for all the great typing of these obituaries!
