Bismark, Ill. - Mrs. Cora E. Brown, age 75, a resident of Bismarck for the past 40 years, and a native of Fountain County, Ind., died at 4:35 A.M. Monday, Dec. 27, at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill. She had been ill three weeks. Mrs. Brown was born March 16, 1890, in Mellott, Ind., the daughter of William and Keziah Tanner. She was married Dec. 6, 1910 to Otis Brown, who preceeded her in death in 1956. She had attended the Mellott schools and had last been employed as a cook at the Bismarck Grade School for 13 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Women's Circle. She is survived by: two sons, Earl of Bismarck and Wayne of Danville; four daughters, Mrs. LaVerne Rollins of Chicago Heights, Mrs. Louise Tribbey of Madison, Wis., Mrs. Virginia Hatfield of Hoopeston, Ill., and Mrs. Freda Walter of Danville; one sister, Mrs. Gusta Smith of Mellott; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ, Bismarck. Kenneth Fetters officiated and burial was in Sunset Memorial Park, north of Danville, Ill.


Mellott - Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Cora Brown of Bismarck, Ill., who died Monday in Lakeview Hospital at Danville, Ill. She had been hospitalized for about three weeks. Mrs. Brown, 75, was born and reared in Mellott. She was the daughter of William and Keziah Farmer. Her death came only six days after the death of a sister, Mrs. Mamie Parkerson, 87, of Veedersburg. Among the survivors are two sons, four daughters and a sister, Mrs. Gusta Smith of Mellott, who is recovering from a hip fracture at the home of a niece, Mrs. James Wills, at Crawfordsville.
